Currently it sucks.
I had an overhaul of my fittings yesterday and realised I still had a stash of commando suits gathering dust in some long forgotten locker..
On attempting to create something that might challenge my Scouts and Assaults I ended up laughing at just how shash the Commando is these days.
So how to improve it and make it worth using again?

HELL YES, we should also have the sidearm reload speed bonus put back on the commando as well... because Commando = weapon expert, not just light weapons.
They took away this bonus EVEN though it was slated to stay according to the patch notes of 1.8**? or 1.7? i dont remember but it was one of those when they removed the sidearm bonus on my commando and it was a sad saaaaaad day :(

The commando could use alot of things but some extra cpu/pg, an extra high or low depending on race and a grenade slot would make me happy.

The problem is everyone thinks they should be able to run and gun like an assault with two weapons. It's not meant for that. If you're a cod scrub, I don't recommend the commando. Where they shine is used as a support suit as it was intended. Perched on a building or ledge with swarm launchers, mass driver or something similar. Use it correctly and you'll love it. I had several games last night alone where I went in the neighborhood of 25/2 with my minmando/ MD fitting

Min Mando is by far the best commando out there. Next up would be a tie between cal/gal commando. The Amarr commando is a joke.
Commandos should be a semi bridge between logies and assaults. Give them 2 equipment slots and proto (don't increase bandwith) and a tweak or two to the base stats (mainly shield regeneration on the Amarr) and commandos should be good to go.
One of the downers for commandos tho is there 2 light weapons slots making them reliant on weapons balanceing.
On that note. Cal commando would be up there with the min commando if the charge up time for the RR wasn't so long.
I do not know love, only ( -í° -£-û -í°).

Hello Robin, loved you your whole career!
I hear what you're saying - and please please I've never played COD and never want to. My moan about the commando is maybe coloured by me going gallente and having fantastic assaults and scouts to chose from. I get the role - but it's coming in way under par.
Interesting to see the two posters backing the commando in it's current form are both using minmatar.

Increase Speed and movement speed to actual Logi level (and increase Logi speed to -0.15 compared to assaults)
Give them one extra slot = AM +1High , Gal +Cal+Min +1Low
Reduce their Scan Precision/Profile by -5

Or more hp or speed (it's too slow for such little hp, my assault out shines it in very way but that second light weapon)

We bring Galmando's AR+PLC/SG to PC matches, denying the power of that suit is foolish If I want AV, I'll try use a Cal/Min.. If I'm leaving someone outside covering range, the Amarr is there
With objectives being fought for in CQ that leaves the Amarr lacking some uses.. But at the same time it's the toughest commando so has that advantage Commando's seem like decent options, especially when used by dedicated mercs |

That damage bonus they get is no joke. A Galmando will absolutely rip your face off with a damage modded proto Breach or TAR. A Calmando with a sniper rifle, or the current ARR is sick. A Minmando shooting snowballs and opening mad suppression with a Six Kin?
Commandos are niche suits. Just like Sentinels. Except their niche is dual-versatility. A Calmando running a RR and a Swarm Launcher, can adequately protect a group of assaults running across a field from enemy vehicles, and long range threats. Then you have Forks when he was running a Calmando as a true Overwatch sniper. That was a very specific niche.
What I'm saying is, you don't want Commandos being spammed like Assaults. You don't need them to. They are for players that have very specific niches, or roles of execution in mind.
If anything, buff their damage bonus.
Set your goals high, and shoot for the moon; even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars.

i love my caldari commando. i stack rechargers and regulators on it, and have my rail riflle and mass driver on it. its an amazing ranged suppression suit, especially on the new maps where you can get a hight advantage.

I would have to disagree. I love my Minmando. All of them.
The reload speed bonus on a maxed out reload speed weapon is comically fast.
I can run CR/Swarms. Hey look AV that doesn't leave me helpless to slayers.
Plasma Cannon/Mass Driver. Oh look they're in a hole.
Also Mass Driver/ Mass Driver because screw clip size.
CR/Mass Driver because people think they're safe behind cover.
CR/CR because I'm ******* mental

Min commando Do you mean more slots or more pg/cpu? Cause I can fit all proto modules on mine with a proto assault md and a bk42 cr with no problem.

Notice how the bk42 isn't proto? What about proto equipment? Assaults have little trouble fitting all pro, I mean really all pro. So yes, I mean more cpu/PG aka fitting capacity. If that doesn't resolve their UPness then I'd add another slot. |

I always saw the Commando best suited as sort of an assault / AV hybrid, as that's all it can really do that no other suit does well.
I think they need a bit more EHP, and I see no reason they shouldn't have a grenade slot.

I would give it an armor and shield buff. maybe 2 more slots, or just 1 more CPU PG Add 1 more effect This changes because it was the Buffy version of assaults and after assault buff, commandos are just a joke, the slot is because when ccp buffed assaults they add them 2 slots, also more hp, CPU, PG so basically assaults took the comando position and way better that it was, so I would say that adding a new effect that helps commandos with Their weapon usage is a good thing, for example 4% more range per lvl, so they can be like dreadnought but in dust, after all 1 good assault will get him easily and don't talk about scouts...

The commando (minmando) is pretty OK right now. It could use a little more hp (1 more high or low slot) and I'd like to see more ammo on the suit. So please give us a 10-20% more ammo pool skill. This would make it much more flexible, since right now, you pretty much need to bring hives.
I would also propose, that at least the Calmandon gets a Swarm Launcher lock on bonus, so that he does the same dps as the minmando. |

I play Gallente commando basic with a basic plasma canon and basic beach assault rifle. You're a mission support specialist. Not meant for solo play. You're typically an Extra gun while filling an Extra role as needed.
Caldari: tactical suppression unit. Amarr: long range fire team suppression unit. Gallente: Close quarters specialist with the shotgun or added fixed enemy placement removal with the plasma canon.
With the Gallente I can say that their commando is my favorite. I typically carry the plasma canon because it's a good counter to heavy spam and scares off most vehicles. I always stay with the squad in my basic suit. I tend to go positive in kdr and isk efficiency. Minmitar: these are much similar to the Gallente suit but you need to specialize in anti infantry or anti vehicle. The Minmitar commando is the best suited to hit drop ships.
