People talk about keeping the payout low to discourage running proto but as we all can see, most of the people that run proto have the ISK to burn regardless of the payout. The only thing that is discouraged by the low payout is people pulling out all the stops to win. When a match isn't an obvious stomp in favor of a lot of people, they do what they can to minimize the hit to their wallet unless they have the ISK to wipe their ass with before burning, even if it means their team will lose simply because of it.

100% Disagree. Less isk - More value for proto suits. Right now people are going through protos as if they are blue prints. I would even say LOWER the damn isk payout. I am getting 250k-300k isk a match with my new character. It's crazy.

it wouldn't allow players to run proto constantly as you only need lose 3-5 suits a game to lose money, it'd just allow more proto to be used. CCP are 'encouraging' players ot use the best equipment with the bandwidth changes yet runnign a full proto logi suit doesn't come cheap (250-280k) and there aint no way i'm buying AUR modules in the state the connection and game is in that they can be lost because i get stuck on a ledge/rdv drops a vehicle on my head/some clumsy f**k bluedot in FW gets too trigger happy with an MD

The key point on my end is that ISK payout should actually have a very wide margin. Of 150k up to maybe 750k, based on performance. So the way you play makes a difference in how much you make.

I agree to a small increase, however I believe it should be paired with a reassessment on the costs of everything in the game.
Right now every type of specialized suit has a uniform cost. This does not make sense. Given the economic focus of much of New Eden, items in this game should have a cost both reflective of their likelihood to be lost and their necessary 'level' of technology needed to create them.
Logistics and Assault suits should be the cheapest in the game, the ones most likely to writ off as an assumed loss. Sentinel and Scouts suits on the other hands would have a lower chance of expected death in their intended use scenarios and also would have more 'technology/resources' put into their manufacture (Advanced systems for Scout and Armor, Exoskeletal aspects for Sentinel), so they would be more expensive in comparison.
However, I am not so much suggesting an increase to any items cost but rather a lowering of the costs of certain suits and items that it makes good sense to be cheap/high chance of loss in battle. Equipment for example should be quite a bit cheaper than it is now. Nanohives are intended to be 'lost' where as Scanners and Cloaking Devices, not so much.
This would in effect 'buff' Isk payouts because the amount of Isk lost in battle will be reduced for the majority of people.
It can be used as another balancing lever between class types. |

Gonna leave this here. This is something I typed up for another discussion with a couple variants.
THE NUMBERS ARE JUST OUT THERE FOR DISCUSSION'S SAKE.
Here is something I've been kicking around for a while. Set it so each "position" on the end of match killboard has a set ISK amount. Then use a multiplier with WP to come to a total figure. The highest 4 members of the team are (likely)pretty equal contributors so they deserve the same baseline payout. The next 4 contributed but not to the same level of the top 4. From there down, it digresses quickly to the last place player.
1st place. 120 k
2. 120 k
3. 120 k
4. 120 k
5. 100 k
6. 100 k
7. 100 k
8. 100 k
9. 90 k
10: 90 k
11: 80 k
12: 70 k
13: 60 k
14: 50 k
15: 40 k
16: 25 k
Then take the individual's WP's and multiply them by "x" and then multiply that with the total payout. For example, for an Ambush match, I'll use .0025. I am on top of the board after the match and I get 1500 WP. We take 1500 WP X .0025 = 3.75. 3.75 X my first place baseline payout of 120k = 450000
2nd player gets 1100 WP.
1100x.0025 is 2.75 X 100k = 330000
6th player for example makes 740 WP
1100 x .0025 is 1.85 x 100k = 185,000
Just to look at it, 9th place player gets 400 WP. 400 x .0025. He is making 90k.
Anyone who has less than 400 WP would go into the negative, so their payout would be less than their basepay. So we set it so basepay is the MINIMUM anyone will be paid.
If the top player goes apeshit and puts up 4000 WP or more, that is where we have some issues that need to be worked out.
We have 4000 x .0025 for 10 X 120k is 1.2 Million ISK. However, we are not seeing 4000 WP put up in Ambush (Normally).
So what I would do is adjust the multiplier on the type of match. Ambush are the quickest so they will not have as high WP totals as a Dom or skirmish. So for Dom and Skirm, we change the multiplier to say .0015.
4000 WP * .0015 is 6 x 120k is a 720,000 ISK payout. Right in what I believe is a sweet spot. Not too ridiculous but enough to make it worth the person's while.
Those matches where you have one person putting up 6000 WP is cracking a million at 1,080,000
People who are AFK'ing are going to be sitting there making a total of 25k ISK (not worth it) and those trying to help the team will be rewarded. Even in the stomp-matches, those who have the most WP overall will be rewarded for the effort.
These #'s are just theoretical and could be moved/adjusted. Honestly, if we wanted to just set the baseline at 120K for all slots I would be fine with it. I just feel like 120k is enough of an incentive to make AFK'ing worth their while.
There would be another option I just thought of to fix that. To make sure the player is participating, just have a holder in place stating that in order to get paid, the individual needs to have any of the following 3 things: 1 Kill, 1 Death, 25 WP. If none of those are met, then the person is obviously AFKing and deserves no pay.
