Noted on the notification.
I am happy you feel the mix is good, we gave it quite a lot of thought. The undelying premise was that you should never believe you got less than your moneys worth, not exactly what you wanted maybe, but it's not a win or lose slot machine for sure.

Someone had a simple crafting idea too, like any officer weapon plus a proto weapon of the type you want, could give you the "right" officer weapon. A small horadric cube/minecraft minigame.

They might as well be on the market then. My complaint with the strongboxes is that I have very, very little incentive to get them. The odds are far, far more likely that I get something that I cannot use and the odds are still fairly high that I will get something I would not want. If it is an Assault Rifle, Combat Rifle, Caldari Logistics, Caldari Heavy suit other than basic, any Amarr suit, any Gallente Suit, any non-Logistics Minmatar, PLC, Mass Driver, Shotgun, SMG, Sniper Rifle, well, you get the idea, I cannot use it. An officer Swarm Launcher is worth far less to me than a single Advanced Assault Rail Rifle (my weapon of choice) because the officer weapons sells for less than what an ARR would cost me IIRC. You get Ghalag's Rail Rifle? That's nice but can you use it? Basically, until there is something that I can do with the 'good crap' I get I have no reason to buy Aurum keys. I might as well just buy the Aurum stuff that I would use. Turning Officer weapons into different variants would be nice. What I would REALLY love is to have my Exile Assault Plasma Rifle become an Exile Assault Rail Rifle. In short, we players need some kind of trading or crafting so getting an Officer weapon isn't "OH YE-, oh, nevermind."
Collect them, save them. There will be a reason to do so.

RND doesn't like me, apparently, and these kind of rewards -- if they hold up -- certainly aren't going to incent me to buy any more keys.
sounds like bad luck, but there is a fine line between not enough officer items and too many. Keep using your daily mission keys, it should pay off.

The unopened boxes? Officer weapons?
Officer weapons for sure. I kill one kitten for every officer weapon sold to Vendor.

Well, on the market, those items would go a long way up to the 800, if not more. Also, you might get more than one officer weapon in a box. And even an officer dropsuit.

Keep using your daily mission keys, it should pay off. I don't feel that strongboxes should contain anything less than AVD gear in large quantities to be honest. I know that you guys want it to be accessible to newer players, but 15 basic codebreakers? You said earlier that the player should never feel like they didn't get their moneys worth. That's not worth the money or time. I could have spent 14,625 isk rather than the 330,000 I sent in logi suits trying to earn the key in the high WP game earlier, or I could have just tossed away 300 AUR to simply buy the basic AUR codebreakers instead of 800 on the key to open it. Instead of all this fairly useless basic, couldn't you make it at least ADV AUR variants so that newbros still have access to it and it doesn't feel like a complete waste of time/money to everyone else?
Strong boxes are the "most" reliable way to get officer gear, without being reliable.
