It always seemed that snipers had one use, and that was clearing people from high places and taking out perched forge gunners. In the early days of PC they were used to guard points, but the EWar capabilities of a scout and the use of ADSs, rendered them pointless.
I did however see a sniper in a PC the other day named, now I'm sort of fuzzy on the name here, but something like "Irisheyes". He or she did quite well, even though the PC was mostly a stomp.
With the introduction of the mini OBs there will be even less things for them to do.
Now I only see them when:
A) A person is trying out a SymFork or a Thales
B) They have been so brutally redlined that sniping is the only safe option
I sniped for a long time. I gave em hell with a charge sniper back in the day, hit 57 kills in a game (not a record I'm sure). I had GemCutter teach me everything he knew. Nowadays I can't see the viability as the amount of clones that can effectively be put down by a sniper are nothing compared to the amount of kills and warpoints generated by running any other suit in a more supportive or aggressive role.
I would suggest giving snipers some overwatch bonus points for kills above a certain height, or near an objective. Y'all need some love.

My role as a sniper: I start the match running a proto gal scout with uplinks, kin cats, cardio reg,, shotgun and knives. I hack as many objectives and etc. as I can. I then distribute uplinks strategically around objectives. This has been nerfed due to bandwidth requirements. I would then switch out suit to sniper fitting that is appropriate for whatever map I'm playng. My proto scout sniper suit consist of kin cats, cardio reg., damage mods, sniper rifle (type depending on map), scrambler pistol, nano hives and proto scanner. This allows for over watch and the ability to provide team with scans of the over watched objective.
Current updates will significantly impact the amount of war points I will be able to obtain. It really pisses me off. I average around 700-900 war points per match (all skirmish). Now, I'm being told I can't play that way and be a valuable member of my team. Orbitals and bandwidth will now seriously effect my contribution which was already limited.
I have not played the new update yet. I'm hoping I'm wrong. But, I believe my fears will be realized when I log in later tonight. I will continue to snipe. I have tried other methods of engagement, but I'm just not good enough for it. So, I'm left to try and adapt or put the game away forever. It's a shame that we as snipers have been nerfed into the ground. Headshot bonus aside, we have never gotten anything but the nerf hammer.
In closing, to all my fellow snipers, hang in there.

Used to roll sniper. Was never as good as Gem Cutter of Symbiotic but I sure tried to be.

i would say i'm a dedicated counter sniper, that count? meaning i usually snipe when i noticed the enemy team has a couple. i have pro 5 in all sniper, ammo, pro, reload, even optimization. anyone ever see me? |

This "x" k amount of kills thing doesn't make sense...
You basically leave out everyone from this list, essentially lowering membership, which is power. Its how interest groups in real life work, usually more membership=more power.
