It used to be pretty balanced, choose Minmatard heavy for flanking and speed, Caldari for AV, and Gal and Amarr competed for HMG heavy. Amarr would typically be slightly better at facing other heavies - but Gal could be more versatile with 4 lows. And with Gal low stamina - 4 kats on it wouldn't overwhelm everyone. Stacking 4 armors would keep it up with amarr who still had 3 lows plus a good amount more base armor.
But now?
Amarr is just the choice suit for heavies. Caldari is still the AV heavy pick choice - but Minmatard is doomed.
With resistance to HMG, 4 lows to stack armor, reps, speed, or hack - and good stamina - why would you pick any other heavy?
With gal it made sense - but Amarr? It's just OP.
What data could you of possibly gotten to make this decision? It seems absurd.
Minmatar's flanking ability makes it a great assault like heavy suit, especially in maps with lots of rooms with obstacles to slip around. Cal is the same but for playing defense.
Gal is better at open area offense than Amarr. Amarr is better for open area defense.
Also, isn't the Amarr resistance to projectile weapons (HMG) only for their shields? I forget.... |

Well, I'd be willing to bet isk that if Gallente suits ALL had significantly higher regen in general, no one would complain. |

If you want to give them 7HP/s base regen you're goddamn wrong. I'll be complaining. I'll be complaining about all the Gallente suits fitting nothing but armor plates, and getting higher armor values than my Amarr suits. If all gallente suits had even 6-7 HP/s people would use them and equip nothing but plates. Don't deny it, because you know its true.
Well lets say you just threw on native armor regen like we have now...
Currently for Sentinels you could JUST give Gal Sents more rep and call it a day. Example: If Your Amarr with its 5 Lows stacks 4 plates and 1 repper and has (for ease of use lets make up numbers completely to be nice and round):
100 hp plate x4 10Hp/s Repper x1
400 more HP at 10 HP/s
a Gal with it's 4 lows gets 3 plates and 1 repper:
100pÇÇhp plate x 3 10/hp/s Repper x1 (+5 built in to suit)
and youve got 300 more HP at 15 HP/s (I know, super easy math lol!) But that is a buff that lacks parity among other races and does NOT address the Assault suits. Assault suits between amarr and gal have the same slot layout. So lets NOT do the above.
Actually I was thinking more significant regen to the complex reppers for Gals. Just make it higher for Gal suits. Native built in Armor Repper Efficacy bonus. However, a significant one.
Example: A complex repper is 7.5hp/s. The armor repair systems skill maxes out at 25% bonus. So on an amarr suit you get 9.375 rep a sec for that repper on the Amarr.
On a gal suit give another racial bonus of 15%. That would total out to be 40% bonus. So on a Gal suit you would get 10.5 rep a sec for the same repper. Actually that seems like too small a gap -- at even as high as 25% racial bonus to reppers ( for a total rep bonus of 50% with max skills for Gal) and that repper gives 11.25 rep a second on the Gal. That's an extra just shy of 2 hp/s per repper over the amarr at a 50% bonus.
Regardless, Fizzer, it is a fair amount of regen. And Gals will take advantage of it without stacking like amarr. Would you complain about that?
Kirk would you figure that works better for you? 2 Reppers for 23.5 HP/sec (and say 3 plates)?
(all number subject to modification of course.)
EDIT: Im sleepy so **** grammar and punctuation. |
