So I am thinking of getting a Min and a Gal APEX suit. I don't really need them. I just like collecting things and will never spend the LP. I have a proto Gal Scout and a proto Min Assault. I think I would like to get different suits with the APEX just for something new. If you have purchased one or are thinking about it, what are you getting and why? Are you getting an APEX version of something you already have at proto to take advantage of the bonus? Or are you looking at something you don't already have for some variety? Anyone regrets buying one? Any advice? I'm kinda looking at that "Shaman" logi since I don't have one to make some WP's but I would be a solo Logi. The Gal has a scanner. Your whole team will be able to see the enemies you have scanned, but you will only receive Intel WP from kills made by your squad mates during the scan's duration. Dust can be frustrating. I run (and have skills in) Gal scout anyways, so the APEX is not too bad. It is very inferior to any G/1 fit I can make as far as dampening, speed and cloak are concerned. The Federation SG is okay, but I suck with the Ion Pistol. Most attractive feature is that it's BPO and I can make pure profit ISK while running it. I have zero SP into Amarr assault, but I do have the Templar BPO's and have run those with the Templar scrambler. I find the ScR on the OPUS to be inferior and I suck with the ScP. Overall, I do regret spending the AUR on the OPUS and would rather have something different. It seems to me that some players are "offended" when they're killed by someone in an APEX fit (especially the AURUM ones) as I often find myself targeted by those I've killed. Ultimately, once you accept that they are inferior fits and you are up to the challenge of using these inferior fits, go ahead and get one (or more) for your collection.

The good: has every thing you need to logi. Its pretty fast. Its free. IMO the bad: limits your play style. Rupublic combat rifle is full of skittles and marshmallows and various other non lethal projectiles. I like it, its not terrible and its not over powered. Its forced me to look at the non combat side of dust and its teaching me how to be support instead of assault. I do wish I had held of and got a fighting fit but oh well I'll be grinding Cal FW if any one wants to stomp me to death repeatedly. Hello? any one there?

I care little about its fit and so far I have no regrets. At least with this suit I know I earned it rather than take the lazy way and pay for it with cash. I don't do too well with the shotgun it has because I don't have experience with it (nova knifer here) and I have absolutely NO SP invested in shotguns so this suit is working against me in every possible way. But I still use it in FW because it's just interesting to me. I now have plans to go for the Republic 'Tiger' Scout. I don't know about the Imperial and State variants as I'm kind of biased against both factions in FW and I don't want my standings with the Federation and Republic to go down like the 2008 stock market. First off, yes, I would rather "earn" the suits, rather than "take the easy way out" and pay cash.. But that is not a choice I have.. I simply don't have the patience to wait weeks and weeks to save up LP. After the update, I will put my daily three or four hours in and see what it's like.. I have two suits in mind and will probably just get them with AUR. That being said, I will buy the gal logi for the scans and I also like amor while I'm giving reps.. The burst AR is a weapon I like to use, so why not.. Have lv.5 min logi but the extra reps don't outweigh the helpfulness of the scans IMO.. I will also be buying the min assault..I also have lv5 min assault, combat rifle and flaylock... So that will be nice as I like all the weapons and the remotes

They will be sort of useless for higher SP chars though.

I'd recommend saving your LP for them rather than buy them outright. They changed the Serpent scout after I bought it. I primarily good the logo because it had all the equipment I wanted in a logo even if its basic equipment. The Serpoent scout originally had several profile dampeners, remote explosives, shotgun and a submachine gun. Pretty much what I wanted in a scout.

They will be sort of useless for higher SP chars though. How would they be useless? Especially if the suit u want has everything on it you want and are skilled into? (Not saying it might get changed of course). All of your skills still apply.. It's actually the opposite.. Those suits are BETTER if you have more SP (given the skills you have apply to what's on the suit and the kind of suit it is)

That logi ain't going to make you that much sp if you don't have min logi to 5, or cr, and all your cores as i think all maxed you're looking at 420 ehp. With scanner you only get sp if someone in your squad kills the red dot when lit up. But if you don't have gal logi to 5 scanner is 100% NOT worth it as it's a standard. It also runs a Ar, you got that to 5?

But the changes use to be preceded by discussion, like we had during the announcement of the APEX suites. Both the excel sheet you linked and the official batch post by CCP Frame stated the Gal Assault to have a Active Scanner. I have searched the forums, and can find nothing to indicate why this was changed. So, I have a hunch the current configuration is not intentional, but a mistake. If not, I would love to hear the reasons why this was changed.

What do you think about the change from Locus to Flux grenade? Since the Assault Rifle has a bonus to shield damage, it would be preferable to have a Locus to finish off the armour. Now I thave to throw the flux first, and then have a weapon which is -10% to armor.

The Shaman would give me a logi which I don't have plus it has a CR which I have at max level. Both the Min and Gal Commando look interesting with the MD and PLC but I have no SP in the AR.
