Ability to combine X amount of lower meta gear and X amount of modules such as CPU and Power Grid to create higher meta gear. A catalyst item such as the new loot system keys is required to craft. Key opens Research Lab perhaps.
Ex. 20 Militia Combat Rifles + 5 Power Grid Upgrade + 5 CPU Upgrade + 1 Key = 5 Standard Combat Rifles
Input cost vs output price, officer gear crafting, use of standard simple recipe to keep system basic and easy to understand can be debated.
To be clear the idea is to use a very simple interface that is a stripped down version of the fitting user interface to craft in the same way we make fits.
You enter through the marketplace tab, near assets. Window pops up and you scroll through the market list and select the item you want to craft.
Fittings window pops up and input numbers shows red if you are lacking items white if you have the required amount.
A bit of work, but should be achievable with our current market and UI system.
Main focus is to keep the recipe list low or just standard to reduce confusion.
So if I want a Thales I need 10 Proto Tactical Sniper rifles + 10 PGU + 10 CPU + 1 Officer Key
There can be LP variant to this requiring LP materials and LP Key.
Some players may buy Aurum Gear packs to convert to officer or proto gear.
Variants that have lowered fitting cost would need double the PGU and CPU modules to create.
ex. 10 Rifles + 20 PGU + 20 CPU = 1 currently existing low fit cost weapon. (Not creating weapons that do not exist)
Rules
Crafting Key required, won as salvage and crate loot, can be bought for Aur or LP, not available for ISK.
Crafting Keys may be Meta Level Locked, Meta 1 for standard crafting and Meta 9 for officer crafting for example.
Aurum gear can be used to craft LP or ISK variant gear
LP gear can be used to craft LP or ISK variant gear
ISK variant gear can only be used to create ISK variant gear
BPO's cannot be created nor used in crafting. (Will save on support tickets in the very least)
Crafting based on Meta Level, Meta 0 < Meta 1 gear (Militia only creates Standard, Standard to Advanced, Advanced to Proto, Proto to Officer.)
All crafted gear are consumable and pre-existing in Dust 514. |

Cat Merc wrote:I would prefer if crafting officer gear would be insanely costly. Like, 50 proto rifles, 50 Proto PG, 50 Proto CPU and a key that costs 5000 LP costly.
This would end up with a price of 2,887,500 ISK + 5000 LP per officer weapon. They should be expensive, I don't want them to be used commonly like prototype weapons.
Right on, my focus was to make some sort of simple crafting that can be implemented with our current UI and in game materials.
I agree that Officer crafting should be expensive and have special requirements.

I agree that Officer crafting should be expensive and have special requirements. Maybe have a timer for crafting. So say you craft 50 Duvolles? You need to wait a day for said Duvolles to be crafted. CCP could then sell the ability to accelerate that for Aurum.
Great idea, certainly would keep the (hopefully eventual) market from being flooded, and keep in game spam of Officer Gear to a reasonable level.
I pitched the use of the Fitting Screen UI as it can easily be copy/paste and re used for crafting.
Slots can be for ingredient materials, and for keys that act as time or material cost reduction.

Tell that to the CCP Devs that are asking for ideas in terms of crafting.
