Waiting for a Factional Match to start gives me a lot of time to reminisce about this game.
I remember the first match I played I hopped in with a that Assault Starter Fit and I kicked the other teams ass pretty decently and ended up scoring at the top of the leader board. I was excited because it gave me the impression that right off the bat I am able to dominate in this game.
Then I played the second match and things turned real dark for me. It was that second match and every subsequent match for several weeks that let me know I simply got lucky with my first go at this game. |

I remember the first time i dropped BF3 and played Dust.
I had a pretty high K-D ratio in BF3 so i thought i would totally own in dust (i came here beginning of Chromo era). So the 1st game was really fun. I really wouldnt care i was getting my butt kicked.
''Then i thought. ''This guys are just lucky because i dont know the maps. Even as low level i CAN and will own them.''
THe true horror came about a month after, when i realized i already knew the maps and my K-D was still like 0.25.
So i stopped caring about my K-D. I joined a corp (ANONYMOUS ;') ) and now im here.
I still dont know what my exact K-D is. I can only guess its around 2.5...but meh...
FUN FACT. I Killed myself like 10 times the first match trying to figure out how to correctly cook grenades. The second one i died like 10 times trying to Use the grenades correctly. And,more than a year after... I still suck ass at throwing grenades, thats why i dont use them XD

I ran sniper for several games right down there in the thick of it. I thought that maybe this game favored tactical, careful movement. I actually kept that impression for several matches. I died, but I got several kills too peaking out from behind structures.
Of course it was easier to do because it was just before Uprising hit and there were still good LoS sniping areas as well as bigger maps so enemies were spread out more.
Oh yeah, no f*cking cloaked scout scrubs either. And I did this all in a scout suit too. Much higher survivability before Uprising.

I started playing Dust during Uprising 1.3. I don't remember the specifics of the very first match.
I think we had Academy up to 400 wp (changed back to 1200 wp right after I "graduated") and, while I sucked (first console FPS and all) in Academy, the mainstream was an instakill nightmare, spawning and dying to Duvolle AR's mostly. It was very discouraging.
I do recall being an ignorant noob, running a Medic starter fit, somehow in a squad with a player named "Cpt Hollywood", or something like that, in one match. He was downed by an HMG heavy and I rezzed him 3 times in a row - right in front of that heavy - before "Quit f**king rezzing me!" came over comms and I caught a clue. Good times.
I'd have quit this game if I hadn't been recruited into SAM-MIK by D Pizzle and Corporal Tarr around my third week into it. |

The very first few academy match I did I had an around 30 - 47 kills and 1 - 5 deaths My average was 40+ kills 3 deaths. I did so well because I often play very hardcore in true FPS games. In games like crysis 3 I have more headshot kills than I do normal kills in multipler( Playing on supersoldier/veteran mode) In crysis I have possible a bit over 7,000 kills. A bit over 2,000 are normal kills, and over 4,000 are headshot kills. It depends on the game though, because in a game bad maps + inadequate gun zoom = lack of headshots. In another ps3 game, defiance, I got 50 headshots in a single enemy wave with a semi auto sniper. If the game has good zoom, I will make use of it very well.
My Isk payout gets lower and lower the more I play, even though I'm getting better. Smells like success.

I'm not really sure why the heck I stayed, and often I am unsure why I still continue to play the game despite it being second only to War Thunder in terms of how much I play it.

I don't really remember my first match in any detail, but I vividly remember my last match of the first evening I had Dust downloaded. I was killed by Chcagocubs4ever no less than 20 times before beginning to think that he was somehow cheating. Turns out he was number one or two for all time kills right about then, and I was a scrub-tastic noob. In hindsight, I'm amazed how many times I could have gotten discouraged and very easily quit.

I really don't remember but with 18K kills and 2.76 alltime KDR it couldn't have ever been too rough as I played from the beginning 90% solo. it's easy to do badly in a game for a long time, rack up a load of deaths and have an immovable KDR.

I remembered spawning in on the tabletop map, getting my ass absolutely handed to me by this mysterious thing, a Mass Driver. Everyone was in a Logi or Assault with it, or a Heavy/HMG combo.
Funny part was, I remember thinking "Mass Driver? you mean like the one in Descent 3? Must be a sniper." (Descent 3's Mass Driver was a super powerful sniper type weapon that dealt knockback and immense damage, firing i believe HG rounds)
