You see the original numbers at least gave medium frames a reason to use precision enhancer or two, or maybe even a range amp if they felt extra scanny today, but now? Pfft, lolno, leave it to the scouts, everyone else just brick. I 100% disagree with that statement. These are numbers that CCP and CPM worked on based on all the feedback we were given. Thing is, the meta won't change: sacrificing tank for EWar is going to remain an enormous drain on resources for anyone other than Scouts, and even they will actually feel a pinch (which isn't unreasonable, but I think this may negatively impact them much like the Bandwidth system bonus Logis early on.)
I ran numbers and I made a mention of them but knew that they'd get swallowed right now, so I will happily provide feedback after deployment. But simply, the close range scans are next to useless: they are at such proximity that you'll have already been shotgunned/knifed by the time you can register the radar blip, react and actually turn. It can't be too long or else dampening is worthless, but base scan ranges for Scouts, Assaults, Commandos and Logis needs to be at least 15m, not the 10 (12.5 for Logis) that's coming.
At 15m, we'll have a 22.66m (considering the x0.4 modifier for range plus the skill bonus) close range scan with 3 CxRAs. That's a close of 22.66; normal of 55.65; and a far of 113.31. That's an investment of three complex low slot modules to get a 113m scan that picks up nothing but vehicles; a normal scan that picks up heavies and undampened Logis and a close that picks up undampened scouts. Considering that a scout can still evade with two CxDamps (35*0.9*0.75*0.785 = 18.55) or one if they have the damp bonus (35*0.9*0.85*0.75 = 20.08.)
With the incoming changes we will be getting an 18.885m close range on a Logi with 3x CxRAs (assuming that they remain at 45%.) Other classes will have a 15.108m close range. Considering that a base scan of 15m is considered pretty awful in general, a 15m but very precise scan would actually be useful while the normal range would pick up heavies and allow an actual EWar meta to develop.
Essentially, scan ranges need to go up, because the Close range is too close and the Far range is too imprecise for anything but heavies. Though I'd say that the Far range would need pulled back a little. Anyway, the current numbers won't shake anything up, but I am glad that we're getting the mechanics in place.

That ~1 second warning-blip is shared via passive scans. Mercs getting flanked and stabbed might not change, and quite frankly, it shouldn't change. What will change is that assassin's position will be broadcasted to his victim's squad. That's a pretty big deal. That's true, hadn't considered that. I'm not sure that's enough though.
