If there was a class on the culture of New Eden what would be on the suggested or required reading lists?

I'm mainly meaning any specific articles, stories, or New Eden history records.

I was one of those people only moments ago.

The Scriptures - At points the guiding principles of the Empire have to be taught (optional reading list) Symbology of the Amarr Empire - To understand Imperial Culture one has to understand and symbolic nuances of our culture (Mandatory reading list) The Reclaiming: A Historigraphical Analysis of the Cultural Phenomenon - Being this is the cultural phenomenon that brough the Amarr in to contact with the peoples of New Eden and were the root cause of the Empire's first interactions with the other Empires on a cultural level. (Mandatory reading list) 20 Generations a Slave - A work of fiction written by the descendent of a 10th generation Matari slave released by Jamyl Sarum's emancipation degree that discusses the lives of his ancestors as slaves under a Doman Holder. (Mandatory Reading List) Pax Amarria - the writings of late Emperor Heideran V, his thoughts on his time as emperor, and his hopes for a peaceful future as a united Amarr Empire (Mandatory Reading List). (EDIT- Wait is this Out Of Character as in actually books in the real world or In Character as in your character is attending a New Eden culture class?) While I'm plenty interested to know both OOC and in Character, I mainly am looking for the OOC stuff that I would be able to read to get a better idea about each faction.
This interest was drawn up from a FW thread that mentioned how the Amarr are such that they naturally seem like the "Bad guys" to most, and how the Caldari generally just look boring. The post also stated that both of these factions also have very rich cultures that tend to be overlooked.

Just from looking at a few pages of the EVElopedia and True Adamance's replies, I feel like I've already learned quite a bit about New Eden's history and culture. However, I can also see that I've hardly even seen the tip of the iceberg, let alone the whole thing. The lore is quite in depth.

Learning more about the lore has made me even more disappointed in the shortcomings of Dust... And made me all the more interested in playing EVE.
I had never really been too dissapointed in Dust before, because I hadn't know what it was meant to be until I had already been playing it for a year. At the point when I found out what target CCP was trying to hit with Dust I became mildly dissapointed, but now I am quite dissapointed. I can only hope that EVE: Legion can become what Dust514 was meant to be. Because let's face it, Dust is not going to hit the intended target for various reasons. In the meantime Dust will be a useful tool in developing Legion properly.

True Adamance wrote:I'd take that with a grain of salt. It's missing some massive core concepts from the Amarrian lore, haven't looked into the others yet but its full of rather snarky commentary and rather poor generalisations. The notion that you have the be True Amarr to be a free citizen of the Amarr Empire is a joke at best. You do not, not even to be a Holder, Catiz Tash-Murkon can trace her root back the the Udorian's, the Khanid Family were of the original Khanid who helped the Amarr crush the Udorians these dudes were and EMPEROR FAMILY (meaning they were formerly in contention for the role of Emperor during succession trials). Only slaves are indentured servants and law dictates they must be cared for and educated and that no cruelty unbecoming the transgression should ever be inflicted upon them under punishment of enslavement itself. Moreover social trends and tradition mandate that loyal slave families are to be emancipated by their Holder's upon display of sufficient values of an Amarrian citizen. So, in comparison to real history Amarr slavery was more like middle eastern slavery (during the colonial era) rather than European or American slavery. That is, slaves were treated as a low class, but given the proper respect of being human beings, and had a chance to earn their freedom. There are a lot of things I have learned about the Amarr that don't make them look like such bad guys anymore. I wish I had known all of this before because it is really interesting.
I've read some of that, and have taken it for what it is. That is to say, a fairly brief summary of some pretty deep lore, which is bound to leave quite a bit of info out. I could tell from the start that the Amarr part was pretty negatively biased. The table of contents should probably give me a guideline for what to research in EVElopedia.
