Another problem I saw, is that there are too many fences and rails. This blocks what would otherwise be great places to Snipe, and doesn't make sense as any other weapon can be used perfectly in those areas since they don't require that you crouch.
Then there's the fact that you have to crouch to remove the sway. I understand there being an initial sway to prevent quick-scoping, but why require that you crouch if you're going to be stationary? All it does is stop you from sniping in places where it would actually make sense to snipe.
I also feel as if there aren't enough vantage points, especially in Skirmish where there are multipule objectives and places of interest. And of those few vantage points, most are very easy to find and visiting them will get you killed with ease.
But enough with my problems, what are yours with Sniping?
Noted however not sure how much we can change up with this.

I'm fine with sniping now. Add two Complex Light mods and two enhanced dampeners to an Assault suit + advanced sniper rifle and level IV in sniping. You won't need anything else.
Feels just hard enough to discourage noobs from pursuing it and rewards people who are good at it. Some people will continue to snipe and suck, but that can't be helped.

I'll be happy for you to run in my squad Kodho. Maybe skill into swarms for AV if your gun game is really bad. Try piloting? Even running a dropships with a gunner or yourself as a gunner would be great. Show more faith in your skills!

1. It is boring. 2. Takes no skill, first few times I did it I went 20/0 with a couple times 30/0. 3. People who think lifetime KDR is relevant will look up to you. 4. Your cult starts to copy you, increasing the # of snipers in the game by 15%
Ive seen very few players in this game that can consistently get 15+ kills with sniper rifles, and even I have trouble getting more than 30........ so either your a sniper god or a liar

Problems: 1. Headshot bonus has effectively negated the need to use anything other than the cheapest version of sniper rifles. 2. CCP has made the conscious decision to make sniping more difficult by adding more obstructions around congested areas. Understandable for maps like Manus Peak where you could pick off anyone that tried to hack a node, less so when nodes are now being placed inside of buildings and giving snipers little to shoot at. 3. A sniper that can't find targets to kill has no other way of contributing to the battle. As others have pointed out, at least allow them to act as spotters and highlight an enemy on the Tacnet. 4. Rendering is still a big issue. On the rare map where I can actually line up a shot to defend a node, the enemy will often not render until after I pass over them once or twice with the reticule...even on heavies.

idk sniping honestly right now seems to be in a better place than it ever has been.... however I could use a little more incentive to use proto snipers maybe higher magnification, range, or clip/ammo capacity anything other than just straight up dmg.... I do enough of that
So you can sit further back in the redline? |

For some reason they are allowed to fire their weapon 150m further than the next closest weapons in the game. Why isn't 300m enough?
I'm all for snipers, but they should have to do it in the field of play, like everyone else. Most maps can have snipers able to shoot all the way to the objective, yet be so far back in the redline, that it would conclude in suicide to try and remove them. That's including the use of an ADS.
I think snipers should be more than a annoying scrub mechanic on the battlefield. I'm all for having them cover area around objectives, but not from in accessible locations. Its unbalanced.
The fact that you can sit so far away that the game doesn't even render(a sniper's biggest challenge) properly should tell you that it's ridiculous. |

That they exist in the first place. Semi-joking aside, I dont see why you cant steady the scope while standing up. I would use the tactical sniper more as a midrange / longrange marksman weapon if I didn't have to crouch to steady the bloody thing. That's my problem with snipers. They just want to set up shop somewhere safe and camp / snipe away while honestly rarely ever contributing much to the battle at hand. I want to be mobile, moving around the battlefield with my dampened scout picking off targets as I can. Not being anchored to one spot in a heavy suit like some sort of paper weight. Who is this "they" of which you speak? Of all the Sniper threads created I've yet to see one person (who snipes) defend the crouching mechanics, while I've seen several push for it's removal.
Though I should mention that Heavy suits are terrible for Sniping as you're easy to find, slow, and will be OHK'd by an enemy Sniper either way. I agree on your other points though.

I honestly don't see your problem with the new mechanics...... I've been doing better than ever before, I'll admit the Charge is now the worst Sniper Rifle but its still in a better than it was before, what is ruins sniping for you ?

But enough with my problems, what are yours with Sniping? I use the TSR aka Tactical Sniper Rifle it may have the lower damage but the ROF is high enough. most common places to find a sniper is between 1 redline 2 crouching some in the ground 3 locate navohive in the mountains or in the ground 4 lastly if your getting sniper get out of there soon as possible
Yep. Very true. Also, if I may add a number five, look for drop uplinks in the redline (specifically hilly areas) and in the "mountains". If you see a droplink + hive package, watch out. :P Blueberries who just spawn in dont need ammo. Y'know what does? Snipers. Obviously there are sniper favorites on certain maps. You just gotta learn what they are. An example are the six towers on Line Harvest. Look around the base of those and on top. If you're in the right spot (which isnt hard to get in as there are multiple areas around that map) you can pick off the snipers on top of each of the towers who stick their heads out. 60pts and a chance to **** off a sniper. :P
From a sh*tty sniper to my fellow blueberries (and cranberries so watch your heads :D), hope that helps!

It's not in a better place at all.
- Range - Clip Size - Headshot Dependant - Bullet Trail
The previous version could down a heavy with body shots, given every game goes below 30 fps, body shots were consistent ways of dealing with threats. You're better off using a standard sniper rifle with longer range, and more bullets to spam hoping for headshots.
The tradeoffs weren't worth it, they neutered the Charge Sniper Rifle.

I used to be a sniper, I believe it or not, was a big help in keeping the Objective in our hands then. Now when redlined I (sometimes) snipe, regularly to scatter them a bit, but I get headshots by accident... I miss the days when you didn't have to be a Prototype Galmando with a Thale in the Redline to be a sniper...
