The first problem, is that the hills and mountains on most maps are too low, making it impossible to counter high-ground campers until the peek their heads out. An easy example would be that one socket with the two buildings and really high tower.
Another problem I saw, is that there are too many fences and rails. This blocks what would otherwise be great places to Snipe, and doesn't make sense as any other weapon can be used perfectly in those areas since they don't require that you crouch.
Then there's the fact that you have to crouch to remove the sway. I understand there being an initial sway to prevent quick-scoping, but why require that you crouch if you're going to be stationary? All it does is stop you from sniping in places where it would actually make sense to snipe.
I also feel as if there aren't enough vantage points, especially in Skirmish where there are multipule objectives and places of interest. And of those few vantage points, most are very easy to find and visiting them will get you killed with ease.
But enough with my problems, what are yours with Sniping?

That they exist in the first place.
Semi-joking aside, I dont see why you cant steady the scope while standing up. I would use the tactical sniper more as a midrange / longrange marksman weapon if I didn't have to crouch to steady the bloody thing.
That's my problem with snipers. They just want to set up shop somewhere safe and camp / snipe away while honestly rarely ever contributing much to the battle at hand.
I want to be mobile, moving around the battlefield with my dampened scout picking off targets as I can. Not being anchored to one spot in a heavy suit like some sort of paper weight.

I use the TSR aka Tactical Sniper Rifle it may have the lower damage but the ROF is high enough.
most common places to find a sniper is between
1 redline
2 crouching some in the ground
3 locate navohive in the mountains or in the ground
4 lastly if your getting sniper get out of there soon as possible

My problem with sniping is that it is easyway but it isnt effective.
What I mean?
Easyway: you can just Sit there with a tanked suit risking almost nothing, your kdr Goes high, your isks go high, you risk close to nothing and earn a lot,
Non effective: while being easyway snipers are rarely (almost never) effective. Last sniper I saw in a PC was in first days of PC. Snipers are close to useless, they earn a couple o kills but cant effect the battlefield.
What I would like is CCP not buffing them, to not make them even more easyway, but at the same time make more effective.
An example on how they could do so? If a sniper see an enemy he can Mark him (like if the enemy was scanned by an active scabner) for some seconds, to let everyone see him. The sniper also gains some WP for the Mark and more points if the player is killed while marked.
This is just a simple idea I had in this moment so it might be stupid, but I really thing CCP should make them more effective without any straight buff.
One of the few assaults you'll find in a PC match!

idk sniping honestly right now seems to be in a better place than it ever has been.... however I could use a little more incentive to use proto snipers maybe higher magnification, range, or clip/ammo capacity anything other than just straight up dmg.... I do enough of that

Atiim, I agree on all points. Not being able to stand without rifle sway severely hampers getting in closer to the action. Yes, sniper locations are limited because the terrain has/is not beneficial to our trade.
To those who hate snipers...I suggest you change the way you play the game. Use cover and don't be stupid and run out in the open, top of pipes and buildings. You know we are there, why put yourself in that position. Don't be pissed when we kill you.
Secondly, come and get us. I have been the victim of more and more counter snipes as of late. I like it! It adds to the gameplay when instead of crying about snipers someone counters. I'll be honest, if I'm getting kills and assist I will stay in my location until I'm found or someone counters me.

I am originally a sniper because I prefer to relax and let the kill come. Chances are, you'll get the lowest number of kills in a match, but sometimes, your team really needs a sniper on over watch. |

I hate that extra cover was added to objectives that I used to be able to defend from afar. It felt like the only purpose of that was to discourage snipers or make them less useful.
Also, I get really frustrated with the poor hit detection and issues with rendering. I can sometimes see another sniper's head, but can't hit it, no matter how hard I try. |

Definitely the glitched rendering for me.
I stopped being a frequent sniper long ago once it stopped being effective and I got into logi-ing. But, I still like to counter-snipe. It has got to be one of the most frustrating things in this game to try and do for the past several months, you just ping away at the head of that f*cker with the Thales for like a whole clip and... nothing!

My problem with sniping is that it can still be done so far in the damn redline.
My other problem is people sniping through the tops of hills so I can't get a shot back at them.
The biggest problem is that a sniper no longer renders visible on my screen at a distance where they can still hit me.

You know what would fix this right away? Foliage. Foliage that gives you partial and directional protection. This would be true to form for sniping. Replace the top of the hill sniping with in front of the hill behind foliage sniping. Then prevent firing from atop a redline hill that you can back down behind.
Also, I thought the cloak was going to assist snipers like a futuristic ghillie suit rather than give shotgun scouts a further leg up. Shotgun ninja scouting was never at a disadvantage, it was the general use of scout suits, particularly as sniper suits that was the problem.
I'd love to see an advantage given to using the scout suit for sniping over a medium or heavy suit. The shoot once from cloak makes too much sense. It is only one shot. Once you do that you become decloaked and exposed.

I've dropped my sniper skills and gone dropshipping. However, I pull out the mil rifle when I see an opportunity for sniping to help. When the dom objective is being camped and we're held back and I know of a place to get a good bead I do that.
Dropshipping with a blaster though seems to do the same thing. It may not hit anything, but it makes the reds scatter and have to deal with me rather than the infantry blue shooting at him.
Otherwise, I've gone to marking a dot on my screen and sniping close without scoping when my team is holding the objective and I can shoot out from a mid point. I haven't done a lot of that vs. dropshipping and playing alt chars.

It's boring to stagnate in the redline. Even guarding a lone objective warrants heightened alertness and utility.
Best fit is Gallente or Caldari Scout taking points with NK, then guarding indoor Obj with NK or outdoor Obj with SR. Thrilling.
