(Hey Revon Could you update the map. I did it on my Paint and I linked it to imgur but I am not nearly as good as artist as you. I wrote names in the box near the cities.)

Country Name: Thaeton Capital: Kayikx Population: Small Borders: Island nation, central island in island cluster Cultural Focus: Inventors and navigators Religious Focus: Atheism Current System of Governance: Democracy Culture: Clannish groups arising out of the natural separation of the islands in the homeland. The islands have a rivalry with each other. Huge emphasis on invention, engineering, and discovering the unknown in Thaeton culture. Capital Terrain: Floating Islands* Terrain Strengths: Aerial, Mountainous, Ocean Terrain Weaknesses: Volcanic x3 (utterly intolerable for Thaetons), tundra Country Terrain Strengths: Highly defensible due to isolation Country Terrain Weaknesses: Agricultural difficulties due to industrial development and lack of suitable farmland, isolation means ground trade is difficult Resource Strengths: Immense deposits of metals and helium Resource Weaknesses: Lack of food
*Floating islands - not -exactly- floating, but are essentially large islands at high altitude supported by spurs of rock. Some islands -are- floating, but none of the main islands are. Something like this: http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs51/f/2009/263/a/b/floating_island_by_molybdenumgp03.jpg where only the very small islands actually float. Justified by weirdness with the curiously polarised metal deposits and the magnetic field in the area.
The area is very mountainous and difficult to settle with the exception of the island plateaus and ground plateaus. This means that finding farmland is very difficult.
I'll go ahead and do some backstory now.
The Thaetons were always an inventive people. Their difficult land made the quest for easier ways of doing things a necessity rather than a luxury. Surrounded by natural phenomena, and given motivation to invent, science and invention boomed. However, the Thaetons were a fractious lot for a long time - each island was by its nature very isolated from its neighbours, with contact requiring a difficult climb down the vast cliffs under each island and then another one up into the other island. This made trade difficult.
This changed with the discovery of a strange gas in the mines beneath the island of Kayikx. A fascinated scientist experimented with these gases and found that they seemed to be lighter than the air itself. Later, an engineer created a basic craft which succeeded in delivering a letter to another island. This discovery stimulated the Thaetons across all the islands - if such crafts could be built, could larger ones be built for people? Could the islands trade between each other in significant quantities for the first time in their history? The headstart that the island of Kayikx had proved telling in the subsequent race to build the first skyship. This ship, dubbed Voyager, managed to carry a crew of three to another island.
The creation of skyships revolutionised the Thaetons - free trade and travel quickly followed, and the islands united under one government - based on Kayikx, given its socio-economic significance as the first developer of skyships. Though skyships were dangerous craft, they had firmly captured the dreams of the Thaetons and living as they did, few had any fear of heights as it was.
Now the eyes of the Thaetons turn outwards, beyond their borders. For exploration of the unknown has always been a tenet of all the island peoples, and skyships have opened the way.
The skyships used by the Thaetons look more like this than this.
This is down to a few things. Firstly, they haven't discovered steam or mass metalworking yet, so much of the second style's lower portion is out, and they don't have gunpowder sufficient for weaponry yet. This limits them to sails. Secondly, the location of the air balloons tends to be more inside the hull for protection - like this but with a vastly lower technology level - wood and sails. Thirdly, these are not immense craft, yet. Most skyships are smaller craft, with the largest crew being under 100 so far. This will rapidly change, but it's not starting out like that.
So. Small floating wooden tradeships. Onwards!
I'll do a first contact thing with an exploration ship wandering out into the vast unknown tomorrow. ))

((The Map supplied that denotes the settled landmass is roughly the one these guys have been using now, which I only really created in paint and Raven expanded, so assuming you keep the existing settled lands as they are it's cool by me.
For reference Skadia is South East if the Paric (red) coast line.
Also now that I understand how Helium is extracted in future I can come up with a real explanation about where mine comes from and why I need tot trade for additional reserves. ))

Osmar land is Green. Split into 4 Counties or Earldoms (Which are then split again into Baronies if you'd like me to go into that much detail). The island of Crasmere is the most westerly territory in the realm. Burtun is the capital and realm of the Monarch, smallest but most densely populated county, situated near the mouth of a river named the B+ínbrim (how much detail of physical landscape d'ya want? ). Also most northerly territory. A fair bit of coastline. The county of Howe is west of Burtun, rather long coastline, situated near a mountain (which as it turns out was a volcano) called the Asbeorg. Finally there's the county of Kilerth. Mostly inland, south of Burtun and contains the Heortgard forest, which stretches up to the border of Burtun.
Those are the main "rules" for them. If you need any more details let me know and I'll have them within two shakes of a lambs tail.
What're you looking at me like that for? I'll shank you I will.

The Earl's steward managed to effectively command an evacuation of the town before the lava arrived. Along its path it washed over farmland, killing a number of individuals who had no time to react, thought in no great numbers. As it hit the town the walls held it momentarily, but they soon gave way. Lava poured into a primarily residential region of the town, destroying a large number of houses. Some that were not fortunate to escape succumbed to the heat.
After some time the lava had cooled down, and while the outer layer was cool enough to touch there was a distinct heat given off by the stone. It would take months to properly repair the damages, but much of the town was still in a fit state.

In Osmarium.......... The Skadian Embassy and Trade Houses
With the aid of the Osmarii craftsmen the Mur had for the first time in their collective histories completed the preparations for their own Festival of Oceans in a foreign lands, and he had to admit in a very short amount of time. Kalm had beeen somewhat impressed by the swiftness by which the Osmari had copied his carpenters own styles and the made their own rudimentary copies of their tools and had offered them more gold in exchange for their services on future endeavours where his people were concerned.
Those that did not staff the Embassies or crew the warship rather conspicuously docked in the main harbours had gone their separate ways many requesting employment from the Osmarii dock masters as labourers, some roving further afield to outlying farms, while two of adepts of the Storm God who had accompanied the Skadii had established themselves at an upmarket pleasure house and were making a name for themselves as exotic.
His own people, those who had stayed to establish a Mur presence in the city, had also done an admirable job establishing the festivals presence throughout the local merchant quarter spending much time negotiating with merchants of various for permission to include their stalls and store in the festival proceedings and purchasing large quantities of foods, silks, and various examples of Osmari craftsmanship. It was no surprise then that ocean front docks had become a riot of coloured fabrics and banners with traditional Mur spiral patterns and Seahawk sigils originating from the Trade Houses and extending down the streets.
"With this I think I am satisfied." He told an assembled party, both Mur and Osmarii intermingling freely, with a note of pride colouring his voice. " I make special thanks to our Osmarii friends for they have aided us in this endeavour as we had not expected. Should you attend the festival proper you shall be our guests of honour and attend our gatherings in the Great Hall."
He had to admit to himself that as a trained soldier he'd not expected to enjoy the civilian life of Foreign Envoy as much as he had and the days since his arrival in the city had passed in a blur of administration and labouring. He attended the gathers of the regular diplomatic circles that was expected of his role and often found the Osmari notions of propriety a curiosity though he had recently taken to wearing a tailored mantle and breeches combination so as not to cause commotion amongst the women of the court.
A screeching from above let him know to extend a leather bound arm as Sieg dropped in from above wrapping his talons around Kalm's fore arm exhorting a grunt of effort from the Mur-man. As the might bird did so it twisted to expose a small cylinder wrapped around its leg at the same time snapping up a small chunk of meat clasped in its sharp beak.
Sieg, the enormous Sy'Thal Seahawk, had also proven himself invaluable during the preparations carrying missives from his offices to the Ambassador and to various merchants about the district and to his surprise had become a favourite amongst the children who tossed scraps of meat to him from balconies but dared not approach him. It was certainly better than than the rash of complaints they'd initially received from irate Osmarii claiming to have seen the huge creature flying off into the distance with their cat clasped in its talons.
"You will get fat if you keep letting them feed you." He chided gentle, drawing a short letter from the Ambassador once more requesting their festival not obstruct harbour traffic, cursing as the hawk snapped at his long ear spitefully. 'Ah Sh'tl can you bring me that letter it wrote earli....ah yes that's the one...roll it up and place it in the cylinder... that's a good lad."
A moment later, in a shower of old feathers, Sieg was gone again making for the castle walls. He turned back to his assembled craftsmen and women who were looking up at him expectantly waiting to be dismissed from work.
"One more job lads and ladies. Find us a tavern because the first rounds are on me."

((Btw Errecist though the valley is more dominated by the lake and forests instead of farms and the city is suspended upon basalt spires of rock rather than a plateau.))
In Skadia........
Several days after the arrival of the Osmarii and Paric envoys had made their way to the capital city the Tal-Man made first landfall within the Sy'Thal Isles landing in the Northern Dockyards of Rhen-Ys to a warm welcome by Master Dammel and his attendants. Having already prepared the taciturn Kin'kre, giant in the Skadii tongue, a means of transportation befitting his size that Mur ensured that he made the city limits of Errecist in swift time passing along the river road in much the same way Revon and his kin had.
His arrival in the city, after lunch time the following day, caused a great stir amongst the Mur of the lower wards who crowded around in awe having never seen a Landborn Kin'kre of such stature. He was greeted by the alluring second in Command of the Murguard Il'yeth who, had in the days since her arrival taken to wearing a revealing Maera of blue silk, led Gray up to his accommodations in the Upper Wards.
Upon gaining the heights were the foreign guests were quartered another loud sonorous blaring of the seemingly ethereal horn sounded announcing that the final guest expected of the Landborn races had come.
If all was ready, she thought to herself joyously, the festival would begin the following morning.
((Get yo pre-festival posts in Spade, Revon, and Vash if you need them. I have three rapid fire posts to fire out quickly explaining what is going on during the Festival for all of my different characters.))

((It's a celebration that takes place after the seasonal storms that wrack the Isles on a yearly basis. Since the storms can rage for days or weeks they prevent oceanic travel to the Isles during that time, the oceans around which are normally rather perilous. It is also a time the Mur celebrate their creationist mythos during which time they feast, sing/tell their stories, and typically mate or when Mur children are born [I don't know which] if their Calling doesn't prevent them from doing so.
I wish to point out, and mainly to Arkena, despite the very obvious nods to polynesian and maritime settler cultures the general level of culture within Mur society as well as their capability to rationalise are high. I may not have expressly stated this yet but because the Mur have a natural layer of water repelling oil that coats their bodies black powder/matchlock/muzzle loading rifles are too dangerous for them to use without potentially igniting. I will adopt rifles and more technological aspects when appropriate and when breach loading technologies become available.))
