In Skadia...........on the Mur River Road.
Having completed her duties and fully answering the questions from Revon and his retinue on the subject of the Skaum the silence extended out between their two parties once more allowing the girl a brief respite from the awkward and formal talk with the foreign diplomats. While communication between their two parties was becoming more natural, at least on her part, there was still the same faint and immutable fear her people felt when their eyes met which hindered her attempts at establishing and amicable climate between herself and the Parian's.
They had made swift progress on their journey along the river road having passed from the deliberately expanding shanties that comprised the new sections of Rhen'Ys sprawling harbourscapes into the verdant steppes of Skadia's central temperate regions wherein a foreign naturalist could lose themselves for a life time. However as the journey neared its end the flatness came to a district end and the party began to make their ascent up the winding paths of a natural valley.
Having loomed upon the horizon for the better part of the afternoon one would have been forgiven for assuming the vastness of some jagged bluff forcing itself out of the ground in a manner that inferred the momentous events of a titanic natural phenomena or even conjured dark thoughts of some aberration of infliction god lavished upon the lands. Instead what eventuated from the otherwise unerring, well trodden River Road, the River itself cutting a swift path through the mountainsides wide enough for a ship to sail through, was a series of winding roads that Sephrena indicated would lead them on to Errecist, albeit indirectly allowing them one of the best glances of the capitol and the Mur Lake from the valley passes.
As path they now rode found purchase in the rough cliff side, leading them through ascent and descent of stark and primordial valleys, the air began to take on a distinct humidity and the tentative sound of secreted waterfalls and hidden streams that fed the Mur River intermingled with the shrill manner of the Phrsam and the sounds of carapace clattering and scraping across the firmness of an established road.
Within the hour their procession crested rise coming to a natural pass in the hilltop where the element carven stone of some long distant water fall of river run in old antiquity met the gracefully carven marble gantries and coiling mile markers of Mur architecture, the first such like the Paric envoy had likely seen, which affirmed that the harsh functional shapes of the harbourscapes were indeed designed with functionality in mind.
This however paled in comparison with the sublime expanse that extended out before them as the valley itself began to take shape between the flanking spires.
(( I want to do one description of Errecist so that when spade next posts I can get it all sorted out and you can all go to meet Shuri'den'shalvys [hell even I can't stop typing out her full name] and the Festival can begin))

Back on Cy'Rath ((Island the Osmarii are now at))
As night fell upon the low valley which the newcomers settled King Za'harr gathered his gear and called for his brother, WarChief Do'zan to accompany him into the valley. As they started to move Za'harr spoke to his kinsman.
Do'zan, we do not know what these people are capable of so I ask you to be aware at all times of our surroundings, but don't make it obvious. We will speak with them as though they are visitors, despite the fact they have in fact trespassed upon our Island. Stay behind me at around 3 meters so they are not too threatened as i'm sure axe and armor will frighten them enough.

The day had begun to fade into dusk as the group prepared to move again. "Fill up a bucket a bring it back with us, the other may need it."
As the words left his mouth, Godwin heard a far off noise. What it was he could not say, though it was significant enough to cause him to clutch his weapon. 'Local wildlife' he thought, yet he maintained a grip on his axe.
"Back to the camp, Raul will be waiting."

You! Who are you and what are you doing on our Island? Have you come to take our resources or have you come to try and take our land?
Za'harr slammed one end of his dual ended ax-staff into the ground and waited for an answer, grinning in anticipation.

[quote=True Adamance]Skadia, the Mur River Run.
The Queen let them be as they held their conversation, she was confident that her own guard as well as the Mur could fend off any attack. Sir Torhsteg, the Knight tasked with leading the royal guard, received the orders from the Mur and passed it along to his men before speaking to the Queen. "Your grace, the men are prepared for whatever may come. Do you have any further orders?" "Just one, don't let your guns get too close to the Mur." she replied with a a slight smile
Somewhat puzzled as most Osmar were as of yet ignorant to the Mur and their ways, he nodded obediently and turned back. Gun at the ready, he kept a watchful eye out for this "Thrash", despite having never seen one before. Regardless, anything aggressive will be shot first, inspected later.

You are on Cy'Rath, my peoples' island of which we have lived for several hundred years, I am King Za'harr of the Cathay-Raht, and we have a tradition, those who come upon our land must prove their own personal strength against my own. If I deem them worthy of living, we will speak, if I deem then unworthy, your bodies will be of no use to us."
Za'harr roared and the trees around shook as thousands of Cathay-Raht poured from every crevice and shrouded hole around the camp and gathered around behind King Za'harr, spears, axes, daggers, staves, and crossbows at the ready should anything go wrong. Za'harr stepped forward leaving with ax-staff with Do'zan and spoke.
"Do you accept my challenge? You and I alone shall fight, whoever is unable to stand first will be judged."

In Skadia......... on the Mur River by the Narrows
The manner by which the Osmarii soldiers moved was endearing to the Murguard Captain and while she did not doubt their skill at facing down a conventional foe she remained ignorant as to whether or not they were familiar with the monstrous pack based predations of their own indigenous predators.
Their pace down the river continued without slowing, the long plume of smoke from the controlled signal fire trailing up into the clear skies growing ever closer, as a series of wooden docks and buildings over shadowed by a rising bluff came into view on the river side on which a band of Skadii were frantically waving their arms to slow the vessel. Beyond the docks, carved into the hillside, as if my some transcendental entity a great natural arch cut through the stone leading the river onwards into a canyon paved in shallow, slow flowing water.
The waters beneath the docks were in a turmoil of roiling white capped waves as a dozen enormous, coiled reptilian creatures writhed around the carcasses of half so many riverside deer. Crossbow bolts still visibly poking out of their ribs where the Mur vanguard had hurriedly placed their quarrels.
It was common practice on the rivers to evade the pack migrations of the Skaum as they headed from the sheltered in land regions out to the main oceans after the storm seasons to hunt larger prey, and even more so common to placate the hungers of the beasts with fresh kills that they might choose to ignore the Mur sailors in favour of the easy meal provided. Il'yeth had done well, her warriors had already procured the game and cast them into the rivers where the aptly named Thrash had ravenously descended upon them.
"Your Grace" Adelya explained hurriedly unable to hide the grim expression that twisted her features. "Should you your men fall into the river make for the south banks with haste, grasp the reeds, pull yourself out, and hide in the long grass yonder. Do not run."
Fortuitously for the procession the Thrash had been preoccupied with the feast for some time and were already dispersing, leaving the fleshy remnants of the deer to sink to the river bed, yellow, reptilian eyes flashing above the water in irritation as the barges sailed in to dock. Several aggressively pressed their bulk against the hull of the barges causing them to list precariously, causing several Mur to cry out in terror, however the Thrash passed beneath them without incident.
Adelya breathed a sigh of relief and released her white knuckled grip on the haft of her axe turning to face Krion and the Queen with a determined look.
"Thank the Goddess for our luck...... moreover I apologise. It was not our intent to see you in any danger. Our lands are beautiful and blessed with an abundance of life however so to are they rife with a number of dangers. Regardless thanks to Il'yeth we are beyond danger."
She said the last part with a warm and welcoming smile indicating to the great arch carved into the mountainside, where just beyond the first curve of the river a faint orange glow of afternoon sunlight could be seen glinting off the shallow waters and granite rock faces.
"We call this place The Narrows. By river-way this is the gate to our capitol city. Before we go on ...have you ever walked a river Your Grace?"

(( Wow I've spent a good 25 minutes trying to explain Skadii culture and religious practices in a simple manner while encompassing the general tenor of the plots as the God's devotee's vie for power. The current centre of the Pantheon is Kalya, Goddess of Oceans, Prosperity, Fertility, and Unity and in recent succession the High Priestess is young, progressive, and many consider her policies to allow foreigners into the Isles is un-Skadii.
Suffice to say in order to prove herself worthy of being High Priestess Mer'deen has reached out to a captain, Man'tiel, sworn into the service of the Covenant to go north and "claim the bounties of the oceans" by divine right.))

Kalm is struggling as an envoy to the main lands trying to ensure more prosperity for his people, while Ma'tyn is exploring a foreign nation to the south..... Thats not even including the climate, topography, culture, biology, etc of the Skadii that is being fleshed out as we speak. I'm trying to mix a bit of polynesian culture and mythology with some fantasy stuff at the moment.)) ((Oh right gotcha, I really like what you're doing with your race, as you will come to see as MY side of the lore plays out, my race is a rather hard headed and rather enjoy violence, on the right people of course but violence nonetheless. But again I do very much like what you are doing, P.S. if anyone has a kik or wishes to commune with me, my kik is Kouta_Bear )) (( Same with your's. Hopefully we can push this RP enough that eventually someone declares war on someone else.)) ((oh trust me, war will happen, I just need to decide who Im gonna fight we gotta see who makes the wrong move at the wrong time, ask Raven, he knows how I am, and he knows I have my ways with my words and actions however as of now im waiting for spade to return so I may advance my race. P.S. since I forgot to add it in the race layout, the Cathay-Raht have a lifespan of roughly 112 years to 122 years of age, the KING and WARCHIEF live until they are killed off by something as when a King and WC are selected they drink from the blood of the previous king and WC as well as ingest moon-blood, a elixir comprised of light from the moons and a special plant that grows once every 20 decades thought I might want to add that in before it came into question))

Though Godwin was no soldier, like most Osmar of any standing he did know how to use a weapon, but was unsure how that would compare to the challenge in front of him. He was intimidated, though he tried not to show it. He looked around him and saw a huge number of eyes watching him and the others 'No way out of it' he thought. He turned to the others before replying.
"Stand down lads. I don't appear to have a choice Your Grace, I accept your challenge."
What're you looking at me like that for? I'll shank you I will.

2 weeks ago: "Send the Faceless Legion. This land will be conquered, and any threats destroyed." Kalti told the inferior officer.
"Yes sir. We send them on which ships, sir?"
"The best we have."
Present:
The ships dozed through the sand, with difficulty, but eventually where within wadding distance. Several beast had already been killed on land and the Faceless Legion made their way onto the beach.
"Split up. Search for bodies, and campsites." An officer barked at the others.
Within minutes the campsite was found and Raul and the others set off deeper into the island.
"What are these things?" Raul growled at Godwin. "Should the Legion dispatch of them?" at his words the Legion took fighting stances with weapons drawn. Raul already disliked the creatures, almost as if it was melded into his mind.

The Narrows
The local wildlife here was starling to say the least. It made +åschild wonder why the Mur hadn't hunted the Thrash's if they are such an issue, particularly if this was a prominent route to their capital. She composed herself to answer Adelya's question. "Alongside, yes. There is a particular river I'm quite fond of, some distance west of my city. The B+ínbrim we call it, we often use the location where it meets the sea to send off our dead." She paused a moment, remembering the day of her fathers funeral before speaing up again "Though nothing as fearsome as your Thrash dwells within. It is a peaceful place. But come now, we should continue should we not?"

Raul already disliked the creatures, almost as if it was melded into his mind. Godwin was surprised to see not only Raul, but the many soldiers that came with him. This opened his options significantly, he could fight along with the Paric to fend off the primitives, though that may sour future relations. He considered sneaking away with his men whilst the two fought and attempt to hijack a ship, though that thought left him when he considered the number that would undoubtedly be guarding the ships.
Another possibility was to betray Raul, putting him in good standing with the locals. After giving it some thought he felt he shouldn't go back on the word he had given the King, he spoke privately with Raul. "Had you come a few moments earlier I'd have been all for it. But I've agreed to his challenge, a merchant doesn't last long breaking deals.
But of course, if he is about to kill me then by all means, suit yourself."
He turned back to stare down Za'Harr "Shall we proceed?"

"Stand down lads. I don't appear to have a choice Your Grace, I accept your challenge." King Za'harr boomed with laughter as he dropped himself to the ground and stood on all fours before sprinting towards him and jumping into the air, kicking him to the ground and standing up with a grin.

As Za'harr stood and saw all the new faces he laughed.
"More witnesses? Oh today is our day kinsman!"
Za'harr turned to address the new faces with arms open.
"Welcome to our land I hope for your sake that your friend here lands in my good graces, otherwise you're not leaving this island" Za'harr motioned to the legions' boats as they are seized by Cathay-Raht, no one was hurt of course, they were simply put into a dazed state with some berry extract and laid down on the decks.

(( Godwins Weapon Skill (WS) is likely to be very low since he's a merchant. However Willpower and Initiative would also be high alongside Leadership.
E.g Godwin - WS 2 BS 3 S3 T3 A1 W2 I4 Ld 10.
Cat King - WS 5 BS 2 S4 T4 A3 W3 I4 Ld 8
