If it kills as fast as it does now, many feel it is OP. If it does not, many feel it is useless.
So here is my question. How would you balance it to keep it relevant?
My personal feeling is the shotgun better off if its role is changed to a bit of a longer range, lower damage "slug" type of weapon, with the breach variant taking over the close range "loud assassination" role.

IDK, I think it's balanced. The problem is that there is really no need to proto when militia gets the job done.

It's fine as is. People.hate anything that kills them.fast, but they hate it even if it kills them slowly because they feel that the frame they were fighting was strafing too fast(scout).
There really is no way to satisfy people who inherently dislike being at a disadvantage in any engagement. It's the reason that Sniper Rifles and CQC weapons are frequently targeted: they dominate their ideal ranges.

increase the ROF and decrease damage while increasing clip size to compensate.
Instead of only needing very limited windows of successful aiming...make it act more like a high rof/low damage shotgun that will do the same DPS as the shotty we have now..but you'll need to have sustained accuracy.

CCP can't do hit detection worth a crap, don't make it so you need to fire more to get a kill, especially against a heavy who can turn around just in time to down you, lol. |

Breach Weapons are always long range and or high accuracy. So that would not work out. Also, the Shotgun of the Gallente should remain a CQC beast given that CQB is the Gallente specialty.

The range is fine, I would nerf damage by 25% or reduce Rof by 25%. I think Rof reduction would work best giving enemy time to react.

Hey! Then it'd be like every other weapon that's pretty close to balanced but can't be used because hit detection sucks.

I suppose keep the range, damage and rof the same and increase the dispersion. It would force shotgunners to get up close and personal if they needed that instakill.
Also, increased dispersion isn't always bad. With three or four wounded enemys in an area it can be just the ticket. Might drive the uptake of higher tier SGs and damage mods.

Shotgun is balanced already.
I would, however, hope the hit detection is fixed, but that goes for every gun in the game.
Bad hit detection makes me sad. |

SG is fine. Assaults should be able to use it too. I noticed the difference from STD/ADV/PRO is almost not practical. 480/504/528 Damage per full shot. 10% increase to DPS while keeping all other weapon properties the same makes the K5 Specialist Shotgun the best overall SG in the game.
I think the damage is fine. The true problem is the lack of skill it takes to use a Scout suit. Passive dampening is to easy, and cloak shot glitching is another problem. The weapons are fine in the Light category.
Perhaps decreasing SG clip size to 6 would slow down the free kills SG scouts are racking up. |

Damn son, it only has 4m optimal! And slow ROF, unless you're 1v1ing, you really don't have an advantage over the guy w/ a rifle. He can engage 2-3 guys quickly, while you have to get in range, and then wait for the gun to cycle to shoot again.
Its invisible people appearing from the pit we had smashed then into so long ago to take their revenge on us ASSaults w/ their shotguns and Nova Knifes.

In all honesty, I think the thing is fine where it's at.
Heavies require 3-4 shots to kill on average.
Med Frames require 1-2 (Mostly 2 if they are tanked correctly)
Light frames require 1-2 (2 Only if they tank like scrubs)
IF ANYTHING I would reduce the RoF. However, this would heavily affect the meta towards heavies. Literally the only ways to take down a heavy 1v1 would require
1.) Plasma Cannon 2.) NK to the back 3.) RE 4.) Your OWN heavy
Shotgun only really works vs. bad heavies in PC. Any decent heavy will be jumping, turning and spraying HMG all over the place the moment you ping him. Granted, you can normally take him down REALLY LOW but chances are he has a logi with him.
In short: Be careful what you do the shotgun. You think heavy spam is bad now? Just wait until RE's get nerfed into oblivion and Shotguns get nerfed. What will you do when 5 heavies show up on your front door then? Nothing. Except pull out your own.

People do? Been going on for nearly 3 years and nothings been done. The only complaint on it I've ever seen is when heavies ONLY use the LAV as a murder taxi for those perfect games - but LAV's are *Well, other peoples LAV's* a lot squishier then they used to be. |

Disagree. I run speed Ewar scout and I might only get 1 maybe 2 shots in for the kill. If I miss or have to use multiple shots I am dead. I carry no armor, this would punish speed SG scouts.
