I've tried all the flavors of their golden rainbow, and I've found that one in particular either needs help, or I need help in trying to use it: Burst variant.
Before I get into it, I would like to talk about the other ones first- vanilla ScP is a decent semi-auto weapon that can reward headshots a little more than normal. Breach ScP is a situational weapon best paired with ones that hurt Armor, GREATLY rewards headshots. Assault ScP goes the opposite direction as the Breach, having more range and shooting faster... but its clip is quite small, meaning the regular ScP is often easier/better to use (especially with less fitting costs than this variant) Burst ScP seems kinda cool, but recoils so intensely and inaccurately that it doesn't make sense that it has better than average headshot damage.
Regular and Breach are great, I love both but use Breach mostly as I want to pop shields instantly or get a headshot on unsuspecting enemies. Never before has the headshot sound been so sweet.
Assault is going in a cool direction but isn't there yet. I'd say +2-3 to clip size before I consider using it over vanilla ScP. EIther way it has less damage in the clip but delivers it faster and less accurately :p
Burst ScP defines the word 'oxymoron' - it is the least accurate weapon I have ever wielded, by far. The spread seems massive and intensely entropic, making it feel more like rolling dice in D&D than firing a weapon. It eats up ammo the fastest of all ScP and also has the smallest reserve ammo. Still, it has that sick headshot bonus if you can manage to get any :) In general, its problem is that you have to pause between each burst in order to actually hit your enemy (I miss heavies near point blank with 2/3 of the burst otherwise) and I think there is a good way to try and solve this!
Lower the spread increase per shot fired. This way, you can still get off a few bursts before your accuracy starts going to hell, and the first few shots are also more likely to hit. I'd say after the 3rd volley (3 shots per volley) the accuracy should be hard to deal with, but it is currently impossible after the first volley back-to-back firing. The issue is that no other weapon deals so little damage while also being forced to time its shots meticulously, and STILL is inaccurate in a very limited range. |

I've been giving it a chance but none of the variations seem right for me. Standard doesn't shoot fast enough, feels weak and insignificant when compared to it's former glory. Breach has no proto version and is too unreliable because bad RoF + bad hit detection = miss (unless target stands still). Burst has no proto version, is too inaccurate and the damage is weak. The Assault is actually comfortable to use but has no proto version, has too small a clip size and not enough damage. Both proto versions have very steep fitting requirements. Even Wolfman's is still nerf'd since 1.8 or whenever they ruined the scrambler pistol, and has crappy RoF.
I'm tired of these Amarr scum pistols anyway, we need a shield based SMG. I'd use an Amarr one if that was all I could get my hands on but I really want a Gallente SMG. |

Yeah, the ScP is not for everyone. I use it because my strong light weapon is the Assault Combat Rifle, so I need a sidearm with some precision ability and I dislike/have no SP in Bolt Pistol, plus the shield damage is great to have, and I regularly use Nova Knives so I feel entitled to the ability to 1-2 hit people in special circumstances.
Too bad for you, the Gallente seemed to want a heat based sidearm instead. Dat ion pistol. I swear, when I first used it, I thought "this is a sidearm Scrambler Rifle! COOL!" then I was curious why it was colored green. |

Assault is good if you have a good trigger finger and twitch reaction. The Burst is good if you understand the recoil pattern and if you understand the hipfire mechanics of the weapon. It's definitely tricky but rewarding and after you learn how to do things it will be as easy as using any other pistol.
Practice makes perfect.

While this is true, it is possible for my basic Amarr Commando to kill proto Amarr Sentinels despite having serious disadvantages in damage type dealt and DPS. Simply because something can work with practice does not mean it is a reliable, good weapon.
Burst ScP has the worst hip-fire I've ever seen (that is what my comments are about- should have specified) and I would have to try shooting at a wall again with ADS, but hipfire spread is very random and huge with even a single burst. I would give it more range if that level of inaccuracy with hipfire is intended.
If the range is staying the same, I might settle for a fairly-accurate first burst, followed by an inaccurate second and impossible third when it comes to hipfire. ADS wise it's good since the recoil is quite small with ADS. Sidearm weaponry is usually good for small ranges and overshadowed at longer ones by light weaponry.
Assault ScP isn't terrible, it just could use another shot in the barrel. Proto variant has good range. |

Yes, but is is salvage only. I have not used it much as a result, but it is almost literally a straight upgrade to the regular ScP because it has 6m more effective range with same RoF, clip/reserve, and a very small penalty to damage. There is only an advanced version of it. |

I believe that the Tactical ScP actually has a slight damage advantage over the regular variants. It also boasts an increased zoom value, apparently- though I'd have to actually test it in-game to see if it really does.
The whole "has better zoom" is probably a holdover from way back when the ScP had a scope. Or at least, I assume that it at one time had a (usable) scope, as most of the concept art/renders and even the in-game icon on the equipment wheel shows an optical device on the weapon.
Incidentally, it would be nice if the ScP had an optical sight. I intensely dislike the ironsights as they are- they are very blocky and obstructive.

Practice makes perfect. Actually, it still sucks once you get to armor. The assault has 50 more RPM than the vanilla for 20 less damage. If you master the vanilla RoF, you're better off using that one than the Assault. |

It still zooms in further than the other variants, has the vanilla RoF and the Assault DMG, I think. It's fun to use, but it lacks in comparison to every other variant. |

This mirrors my own experience, incidentally. I initially used the assault variant because it felt as if I wasn't oversampling it. After I juggled some settings on my mouse (mostly poll rate, because the PS3 decides to ignore 90% of device polls), it didn't feel like I oversampled the vanilla model.
Or at least, not nearly as much. The vanilla model also has the benefits of: using less PG and having a higher capacity, as well as the aforementioned higher damage.

I dunno, the last time I looked at it it seemed like it had vanilla-level DMG, in addition to the vanilla RoF and the zoom benefit. It seemed a lot like it was closer to the pre-HF Delta Assault ScP- more damage, more RoF, more everything really.
