There is your first problem.
Don't jump on the win wagon. Stake your claim and make a stand. If you keep jumping on the win wagon, you will find yourself with huge wait times, because that's all everyone will do.

One command of Cavalry gets into your lines, or your oppositions battle line nears yours and you are ******. I'd rather have a few commands of Matchlock soldiers with arabesques out on the front lines or the flanks.

Please note that I agree on bows not being the sole bulk of your army. But if you told me to choose between a unit of bowmen and a unit of spearman to supplement my army, I'd pick bows every time.
