Flux grenades create an EMP which destroys all electronic items...people whine about the cloak because they are scrubs so why not make the flux 'destroy' the cloak? Reset the cloak timer to 0 again, this would make more sense since the cloak is electric and the flux grenade is an EMP that does not distort the cloak.
Anyone else?

Anyone else? Agreed, wrecks equipment and shield but not a cloak field... be... cause... it's... not... electronic.?.?.? what? how does that make sense?

Also reset scanner, and stamina. Maybe even scramble passive scans for X sec. Disable reppers. Reduse movement. If you start to think of them as emp devices, and then have a look in the "mirror". They become potentialy devestating.

Why would it wreck stamina?
Anyways I think it should disable and not destroy the cloak. I don't think it should completely shut down the abilities of dropsuits because that would make Flux grenades too powerful.

Flux absolutely should disrupt cloak and put it into forced cooldown. I don't think we need an additional penalty, but a Flux should drop a cloak.

I'm not sure about adding a delay but it does seem logical that flux grenades - if you can get them to contact with an enemy cloaker - they should drain some of the remaining cloak energy. If they are too low, they wont be cloaking back up any time soon as the cloak has an inbuilt 50% minimum wait time.

Yes it should.
It's equipment, fluxes get rid of equipment.
And sure make them disrupt repair tools and scanners too.
Forced shut down on scanners and the repair tools. It'll be brief though.
I like it.
also disrupt the cloak during damage...even falling damage....whaaaaaat!
That's right...oh no you just jostled your cloak too hard and it came down. No cool down though, you just have to reactivate it.
None of these things should reset the cool down to a forced depletion...that's dumb.
I just like the idea of a scout trying to run and having to keep reactivating his cloak over and over as he's escaping. Laser rifles would become a scout detectors. That sound hilariously fun.

To put it as a simple, easy, quantifiable effect, flux grenades should reduce the charge of handheld equipment by a certain percent (decreasing charge for cloaks and increasing/initiating cooldown for scanners). Probably something like 20/40/60 for the respective tiers of flux grenades. As for rep tools, maybe just break the tether upon contacting any part of the beam, user, or recipient(s).
Initially, I would say to only have it effect equipment that is currently in use. So a logi could get fluxed while holding a weapon, then immediately switch and scan. |

Wasnt that the idea from the start, that the cloak would break when you flux it?
We would need contact flux grenades for this to be really effective though.

They are reflecting light, and who is to say that they haven't been hardened against EMP's like the electronics in your suit? By your logic, you throw a flux and all suits in the radius power down. I disapprove this message.

Anyone else? No, because CCP prefer to nerf things to pure bone in first place.
And seriously speaking I do not understand why they have not yet introduced this, with mechanic that turns off cloak if cloaker is harm some how.
One small thing - Flux grenades do not destroys RE or PE, but activate it.

Anyone else? yes it should disrupt cloak as the cloak is an electronic device
also as flux is like a mini EMP i think it should disrupt suits Ewar/innate ewar for a short period of time based on suit.. 5 sec light, 7.5 medium, 10s heavy
basically this would light them up like an Xmas tree, nerf passive scanning to 0 except for when you directly look at someone/thing, nerf range to 0, and nerf your signature to 50...
however this is with current ewar balances.. i think that once CCP rebalances ewar and active scanners(more then currently) i think it may finally be almost there.

it shoudl just make them poof with out exploding as the EMP effect of the flux should fry the detonator with out effecting the explosive charge..
i TKed maybe 2+ people cause i fluxed a point in pub matches, luckly 0 TKs in fw doing that.

Flux is flux, EMP is EMP. Unfortunately there is no EMP in dust. ooh that would be good.. i can actually visualise it now because we had those kind of grenades in "Dystopia" a HL2 modded cyberpunk shooter with cyberspace hacking minigame thing too...
tho my favourite was light suit with shotgun and cortex bomb so when i was about to die my head would do BOOM and take out any one around me with in 2.5 meters
i shouldnt do this but... EMP_Grenade
basically if you read the details it seems to outline what most all of us would like from flux nades however i think we may make flux too powerful so i would go to say, leave flux destroying equipment and nullifying shields then add EMP grenades which DO NOT nullify shields but cause distortion on screen HUD the tacnet minimap is useless for the duration but it also destroys equipment and halts any hack attempts and stops the effected players hacking for the duration that their HUD/suit is EMP'd
doing this will force players to make choices

Flux destroys deployed equipment, should temporarily disable hand held equipment. With our super powered generator / power grid, whatever, the hand held equipment should experience temporary shutdown of, say, three seconds. They're protected from the internal, automatic, current sinking mechanisms within the power grid.
This would include cloak, scanner, Uplinks / Hive deployment, etc, and EWAR modules. Modules might be asking a lot from CCP coders, but EQ should be easy enough since they're all in the same category. |

Yes. Let flux nades force a cloak field reset. Ignore the rest.
It doesn't need to stun, reduce movement or any of that other jazz.
If you want an EWAR nade, just add that in later.

Anyone else? Should it drain energy weapons also forcing a reload? seems fair since you want to gimp the cal/min scout by draining there shield and cloak all in 1 hit as the other scouts will still have armor to protect them. Would be the same unequal advantage to energy weapon users vs physical ammo weapon users.

That is no way a mandatory change, BUT a very interesting one. It would make fluxes so much more usable.
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

I agree with DeadlyAztec11, RemingtonBeaver, and Forlorn Destrier; flux should NOT affect anything else (besides shields) on dropsuits. What it should do is just deactivate cloaks, not force it to go into cooldown; only break the lock for repair tools and not disable them; and it should make active scanners untriggerable for 1-2 seconds.
This thing shouldn't be OP.

Lol, until this thread goes into Features and Ideas, everything's up for grabs. Flux should be the most OP EMP ever made! Shuts down entire suits, leaves everyone in its radius immobilized for 10 seconds! Lights on your HUD showing your systems coming back online while you get pummeled, hahaha
Seriously though, affecting cloaks is a definite yes. The rest? It makes sense, but it's still just a game... |
