Except, unlike the free fittings everyone has on day 1, you have to grind your heart out for them

OH! Can we have active booster-like qualities to these dropsuits?! I mean, when you play a match entirely in your proto BPO dropsuit you get +50% SP earned.

The Jita riots were in a scrubscription based game about ****** cosmetic stuff. It was pretty stupid, I was there it was annoying as hell. DUST is completely different story, its a F2P game without any paywalls. You can get everything for free in this game except the respecs service.

It wasn't -COMPLETELY- about cosmetics. Sure the $70 monocle had a lot to do with it but there was also the threat of gameplay changing pay-for items. The subscription factor had a lot to do with it as well but ultimately the entirety of Jita Riots revolved around the aspect that CCP was intending to allow microtransactions for non-vanity "Pay-to-Win" materials; something that seems to change in meaning to fit the agenda with Dust 514.
It started out as Militia BPOs... Then it evolved into Standard BPOs... Now we have Prototype BPO's - BUT IT'S OKAY, THEY'RE PRE-FITTED WITH STANDARD GEAR! Calling Slippery Slope is a logical fallacy but evidence is showing that that is less likely a fallacy so much as a consistent theme.

You are trading performance for ISK efficiency. Good for saving up ISK, but you are bound to get stomped unless you switch to an advanced fitting when the need arises.
CCP made too much money on those militia/standard BPOs. They are on-time purchases and the market is probably saturated with them. Now they have to keep up with the "BPO arms race" to keep us purchasing more aurum.

Actually, the in-company newsletter that was leaked had a discussion inside it on whether or not to allow players to BUY Loyalty Points and Skillpoints for AURUM.
If you go back through EVE Search and find the threads you will notice that people started getting REALLY mad when that happened.
Also, it was a monocle for your avatar that cost $70 while the game had longstanding playability issues and the community was pretty much being ignored about everything.

You would still be paying to get them though. Isn't like 95% of the FS based on Aurum purchases? I saw a player "study" on here somewhere. If i find the topic, I'll edit this post w/ the link url.

Rat, they're just too meh to be pay to win.
If these are for new players, how am I supposed to convince a new player that the experience he has had in Dust is worth dropping $25 BEFORE he has the suit that would make his game more tolerable?
For veteran players these things are indeed entirely useless.
Since they're behind a huge grind/pay wall, there's no real opportunity to get people into them quickly enough to open up higher level play very much, either. If Fac War paid off a TEENSY bit more maybe I could see PC corps starting to queue sync FW massively to try to farm for these things, but ultimately that's still stymied by the fact that we can't really retain new players for long enough to get that grind. Plus, without the ability to at least switch out the STD mods for different STD mods there's really no way you could use them for making PC more accessible either way.
So yes, my response isn't "lolP2W", it's more like: meh.

What does it matter? We're -actually getting- gameplay changing pay-for-items. Something I personally think is well worth a riot over if people weren't so damn short sighted to just eat up their delicious shiny and dispute whether or not it's pay to win.

But this has been the writing on the wall since the end of Chromosome. Why do you think some of us harp on about Chrome so damn much? As soon as uprising came, the long slippery (and sometimes short and aggravating) slope was put before us.
