The cost of basic frames is lower now than it used to be, at the standard and advanced levels, the cost is the same as the specialized suits, and the prototype basic frames cost less than the specialized prototype suits. I am very glad for this change.
I have begun using the basic medium frames since I have no points in assault suits, but I invested three levels in medium frames to get to logistics. Basic Medium frames are useful for having more hit points and speed than logistics. I thought that Medium frames were supposed to be close than this to the assaults' stats, just without the bonuses. They're not bad compared to Logistics suits, but are worse than assaults, although they do have unique slot layouts at some levels.
The basic light frames are attractive to me because I never cared about using the cloak and the cloak bonuses is meaningless to me. I would use them if the CPU and PG weren't so bad. Some advanced light frames have worse computer processing the the basic scouts(Minmatar, and Amarr). The standard Amarr Light frame has the Same CPU as the Militia frame.
Comparing basic Heavy frames with Sentinel suits is neat, because each heavy frame of a race has something the sentinel does not.
Amarr Heavy frames have more CPU and high slots than the Sentinels, for slightly less hit points and a low slot. Gallente heavy frames have more PG and less CPU than Sentinels, and also have one more Low slot, and one less High slot. The Minmatar Heavy frames are faster than the Sentinels, at the cost of PG, CPU, and armor. The Caldari Heavy frames have more PG, and less CPU
Basic frames are neat, and not completely inferior to specialized frames, except for the light ones.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

I think they are all useless compared to specialized suits. In the case of the basic mediums, I'm sure an ADV assault suit is better than the proto basic frame simply because it has better innate stats (i.e base HP for one) and the the bonuses, the proto medium frame will have you fitting more modules (more ISK) than what you would need to on an ADV assault to have similar, if not sub-standard stats. Except in the case of the basic minmatar heavy frame and amarr light frame, the extra movement speed they have is quiet useful. IMO. |

Glad you noticed, I sneaked it in with 1.9 as well as proto rifle variant ISK cost reduction
We also gave them a solid native regen, to make them "best" at something, and that will be good for new players while they skill up to specialized suits!

Going to have to take a look at this.
Frames aren't bad they just don't have the defensive and offensive skill bonuses.
It just wasn't worth paying the same price for an unbonused suit. Im still dubious about the SP investment.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

I think I'm going to look at it too.
A while back I used to use the STD Amarr med frame as an AV platform because I didn't have points into assaults at the time and I could make a better fitting than I could with my logi suit. The price sucked but it was just better. Different slot layouts and inherent regen might make for some interesting combos.....
(Currently I use a Gal scout as my AV platform cuz the MInmando is a little slow and, well, Gal scout is best scout suit.

Yes. I've always thought that Basic Frames should have easier fitting to accommodate new players and to give them some kind of edge over specialized Dropsuits. |

Interesting. Might have to compare the Gallente Medium Frame to the Gallente Assault and see if it's better. Lord knows I'm not getting any benefit out of the dispersion reduction.

The bonus is truly useless so you have a point.

The sharpshooter skill for weapons says it decreases dispersion, but the only difference I noticed after getting it to lvl 5 on my CR is a significant bonus to range. Which I daresay is very useful. |

The basic m/l/h frame suits are the coolest looking suits in the game IMO. They should get a bonus of some sort so that veterans have another reason to use them beyond lower cost, which isn't enough. How about lesser versions of the various class bonuses, like 60%? So Minmatar Assault would have 15% more clip, 15% fitting bonus at proto. Adds more suits to the game, gives options to those that are trying to reduce costs, and gives an early, lesser (less expensive?) proto option to players. |
