For me, I am a very competitive person and I am very big into trying to accomplish as much as possible. The number 1 thing I like about Dust 514 is the vast amount of skills you have to level up and the commitment and hard work that is needed so that you can level those skills up.
I used to play Modern Warfare before a friend introduced me to this game and in Modern Warfare my ultimate objective was to acquire as many of the Titles and Emblems as I could. The thing is is that Titles and Emblems have no benefit towards the player beyond bragging rights which ultimately led me astray. In Dust 514 every time you accomplish what is needed for you to level up a skill you are actually making your character a more formidable presence on the battlefield which I like a lot.

Unlike many other games this one takes a more tactical approach by having the existence of equipment, team scans and so on.
I also really like the suit concept.

Number one huh.....the progression of your gear and skills I think.
I find myself saying 'my' or 'mine' often, 'my' mass driver, 'my' nova knives, 'my' scout suit, 'my' modules, 'my' remote explosives, 'my' LAV .
You spend a length of time getting something, when you have it you go: "I worked for this, I practised for weeks/months/years, this here is mine, there are many that use it or things like it but they aren't me."

Dropsuit and Vehicle fitting. The whole EVE feeling. Real risk and rewards.
Before DUST I always imagined how it would look and feel to be a simple soldier and DUST perfectly gives that feeling. The suits, the vehicles and the battlegrounds fits perfectly in the EVE universe.
And I love this 60% always toxic community too, I don't know why...
Yes, I'm that desperate...

Very good for "casual" players.

"This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

THIS. You dedicate a part of your life to attain a set goal for yourself. Like, "I finally proto'd everything on this fitting." The suits are essentially the epitome of your dedication and knowledge.

My favorite aspect of the game does not yet exist.
I like the New Eden setting, futuristic and dystopian, and what not. I like the atmosphere when I'm in a match.
Ultimately, what I want is a futuristic, open-world mmofps, within a player-controlled world like EVE, where you can do whatever role you want.
This is what Legion may be, and it is what Star Citizen is striving to be (amongst other things).
So my favorite aspects of Dust are the atmosphere, and the potential. What I want is very long-term, 3 years away or so.
Set your goals high, and shoot for the moon; even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars.

it's all of the little things:
like the headshot noise the dampened sounds while cloaked
that feeling you get of repping someone to full health (with or without triage points)
The little bits of lore in the description of all items
my merc room
how most of the suits look, especially the militia Cal light frame and the Assault Cal medium frame
the sound of the regular assault rifle shooting.
the sound of the assault scrambler rifle
that moment where you bump into a blue berry or red berry and you both realize that Dust is just a game and not life so you spend some time messing around together, being dorks.
I also like how in 1.9 everything feels heavier. Like I actually have weight when I run and jump. Is this a 1.9 thing or did 1.9 reset my settings for xy sensitivity? either way, I like it.
I just love dust.

The close knit community. Seriously I see people from the forums VERY often in matches. You don't get that often in shooters.
I also like the customizability in skills, but I want to see them expand it into weapon attachments and cosmetic items like in other shooters.
Oh and that head shot sound gets me literally every time! LOL

The consequences!
The feeling that you must protect what you have earned, and that you know you scored a victory when you take some else's shiny.
Everyone here pointed out some great other points. I'd add another that I think we all love... the subtlety, this game has more little quirks and strange tricks than just about any other... it really does have many of the charms of the RPG side of video games.

My favorite thing is the chat feature, user made channels. Making friends, sat just having conversations about fittings, the games development, where we live, ANYTHING. On dust unlike most other console multiplayer, making friends, establishing new player groups, helping new players get into the game
Yup that's what I like I love many other things, I just find it an important difference between this and other games

The lore.
Once you find it........ it's so damn good.
I just finished reading through the Amarr Pre-History and Unchallenged Expansion Era sections and it's damn good stuff.
I also apologise if I ever suggested the precursors to the current Amarr were peaceful. When we do civil revolt and war we do it right.
Interestingly enough, one piece of information I found incredibly interesting in terms of technological advancement was how the Amarr discovered gunpowder.
In a single campaign against a single enemy stretching over the course of centuries the Amarr discovered cannon and fire arm where once they waged war with spears.

I wish the lore was built into the game more from the beginning. I believe it would have adding a very strong element to Dust. At this stage I don't see how they can tie us to a certain faction for anything meaningful. Most of us have strong ties with people from different factions, thus any move in that direction would fall flat on it's face.
I wish my avatar was Minmatar.
