After taking a break from Dust for a month and playing that other shooter that just came out it has never been clearer to me how many serious problems could be fixed by changing the way uplinks work.
Rooftop camping. This is ridiculous, it ruins tactical gameplay by turning it into a race for whoever can fly a MLT dropship there first, and do it without accidentally falling off before you place a link. It's nigh impossible to get rid of these uplinks once they are placed. I'm sure everyone can agree it's a frustrating and unnecessary part of the game. It could easily be fixed by placing an upper vertical limit on how high up an uplink can exist, or by making the terrain on top of structures automatically cause the uplink to explode.
Spamming. People were discussing the idea behind this thread a while ago, and someone said you shouldn't be able to just drop uplinks everywhere and then switch suits or die, while the uplinks stay there. Your uplinks should explode when your clone is terminated or you change that suit at a supply depot. This will both promote the use of Logis on the battlefield and make the entire flow of battle more tactic-oriented. Uplinks should also have a resupply function similar to remote explosives.
I really think this is important to the Dust experience.

but I also have another one.
set all equipment active at a time to 1(explosives should be 3. having 5 boundless remotes out is execcive) . that way the only thing different about the equipment is how effective it is.
that way you cant spam uplinks. but you can have 3-4 different types of uplinks and only place those 3-4 said uplinks
same goes for nanohives currently you can have 2 k-2 hives down at the same time and have a decent income of ammo/nades. at proto level you can sit inside 3 of those wiki(or was it ishy) hives. and to top it off you can put down adv or proto rep hives and have 2-3 of those there as well.
jihad jeeps would be less powerful (although still capable of OHK vehicles due to different tieres being used)
could also solve all tiered problems by having that; you place proto nano/uplink, then place a std version, it causes the 1st placed version to ''die''.
Nah, I think if a Logi is going to devote his life to filling his equipment slot with his uplinks, ESPECIALLY an Amarr Logi, he should be able to "spam" as much as he wants.
It shouldn't be that hard to kill that Logi. If there's one thing I learned from fighting O.H it's that the entire team needs to prioritize killing Logis.
And no Spademan, that wouldn't be enough.

It wouldn't matter as long as they also found a way to get rid of rooftop camping.

BOTH of my suggestions should be implemented. Either that or bring back 2500 WP orbitals.

Llast 326 wrote: Not so sure about that. I can drop two uplinks down and get WP of them until they expire this sometimes means through the whole match, and that is without ever putting them on rooftops I only travel on foot. Well placed uplinks can go through entire matches without being found.
Again I don't see a problem with that. However I do think active scanners could use a WP reward buff because yes, uplinks and rep tools are the best methods of gaining WP.
You are using your uplinks tactically and that is how they were intended to be when CCP developed this game.
Besides, to sit back and snipe after you do that, with my idea you'd have to place the uplinks in your sniper suit to begin with. Then run all the way back to your sniper spot. Pretty inconvenient.

Oh yeah because perfectly landing a dropship on some convoluted structure inside of the Gallente Research Facility and hoping when you press circle to get out of the dropship that the game doesn't send you falling off the edge because it's hardly big enough to fit a dropship on, or flying high above it and hoping you can manage to skydive onto it...
That's some balanced, tactical play right there. Especially when you're the only ******* person on your team willing to do it, which forces you into that role even if maybe for one ******* match you ACTUALLY want to shoot people with guns instead, but if you don't do it your team will lose.
Because now that assault dropships are flying pieces of paper they can TOTALLY clear a rooftop being camped without being instantly shot down by cheese mode AV. Really nice tactics you've got there.
That **** is only tactical in the way Nyain & Friends tactically zergs the enemy spawn to make sure they can't escape and to clear the wave quickly. Doesn't discount it from being unbalanced, ***** ass ***** tactics.
