I reached my max months ago. I like the idea for newer players but I am going to feel terrible for the players who think they can make it to the top. I am at the top I have maxed all my skills, and have all the suits and weapons imaginable. When you rush to get here you will find out how much you missed had you taken your time. I am now at 54-55 million SP haven't played in months and currently sitting on 2 million with nothing to do with it. Almost all light weapons to 5. I have at least one proto suit for each roll, scout, heavy, assault, logi. Still have Commando to cap but I am not in a rush. If your a mid level player do not rush to make it to high SP levels you will be disappointed. Until new items are added what will you use the SP for once you reached this high? Do not say vehicles. I have an LAV BPO, cannot fly(I suck), and I rather blow up tanks than drive them.
So take your time and enjoy it for you will one day be like me and several others who have reached the SP top and have nothing to work for at the moment. You will get bored and then bitter vet syndrome will set in, you have been warned.

So I guess no optimizations? Sidearms, suits and Weapons? I have 35 million almost only in Gallente Dropsuits and Rifles, and I don't even have them fully capped. Well, almost all Core skills are capped, ie those that give native bonuses, even the EWAR skills.

Just hit 50 million SP and I have Gallente Assault/Commando to 5, all my dropsuit upgrade skills to five (save for a few EWAR ones which are useless on both of those suits), and almost all weapons to level 5 with the AR being completely maxxed out.
There's literally nothing for me to upgrade into except for different specializations. Just stuff that applies to modules I will likely never fit on my Gal Assault/Commando (myrofibral stimulants, for instance.... which you should totally do something to make those even remotely viable...)

Well, almost all Core skills are capped, ie those that give native bonuses, even the EWAR skills. Seriously. I'm thinking of buying an aurum respec just to show gratitude for CCP doing anther update, and I have over 42 million skill points with all proto Amarr suits and many proto weapons. Despite this, I still came up with a respec plan that would consume about 40 million skill points just focusing on completely optimizing a small handful of fits using only the Amarr logi. There's quite a bit of room for insane optimization.

I agree. Most of the "proto suits for each role" you have must not even be fitted as well as they could be, I'd imagine especially the sentinel(s) because I don't think I know you well for being a sentinel, Calvin. Weren't you more of a scout/assault type of player?
To be honest I won't be bored of this game until I have LITERALLY everything. You don't have everything with 55 mil, you have a weaker version of almost everything. You even said yourself you don't use vehicles.

I think that's a bit discouraging and almost like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.
I was just squadding with some new guys not too long ago. It was impressive to hear their enthusiasm. Introduced an Amarr Assault player to a SCR and he was thrilled. They were already planning their skillbooks and asking questions about how to guide their career.
With that said, they don't hold the perspective that you do for they are at the bottom of the food chain. I remember being there, looking at the peak of the mountain with my mind focused on reaching it. The new guys aren't thinking about the payoff being boring or left with nothing else to do. They die easily now, they just want to be competitive. To have that versatility of combat effectiveness. To step onto the battlefield with confidence and see their grinding has paid off.
Let them find their own perspectives when they get there. That's individuality at its finest. Yea they could get bored, then at the same time, they cannot. You've been here for quite some time. Plenty of these guys are new, only a few months fresh in.
Allow them to enjoy themselves and experience what we experienced without telling them its a complete waste of time. In this stage of Dust, its best we encourage players to achieve more. It creates a better community, battle and a better Dust 514.

All my weapons are customized and if you think placing SP into raising my magazine a few bullets matter it doesn't. Side Arms have them as well except KN just not that ninja. Heavy Weapons MAXED. I was a heavy first. I have all skills maxed. The only skills not at 5 are some racial suits and a few weapons.

No I was a heavy first and there was a heavy debacle in one of the early builds so I ventured into assaults to try them out. Over time I have amassed everything I need and then some. Your right I do not have everything, but there really isnt anything I need. I can do all roles with what I have.

Not everything is about new suits or new weapons. FW making its way into the spotlight will put a lot more emphasis on team building and strategy while they try to figure out something for PC. Making PC a viable and competitive end game is the only way they will keep the game entertaining as people accumulate massive SP. Also in the short term they really need to add corp battles back with some sort of ranking system as a way of solving this problem in the short term.

Weapon optimizations are pretty pointless sp dump on most things a new proto suit is worth more max corp skills are worth the most ..
Would you rather save 2 or 3 pg on a gun or have a new gun entirely to proto ? Or almost another proto suit most of my guns are around prof 2 or 3 ammo capacity 2 or 3 reload 2 or 3
Of course I almost have every gun in dust maxed so optimizations are pretty much all that's left to me ..
When you factor in new proto suits become a burden because of limited fitting slots at about 40mill sp

I can't recall any Eve vet that didn't like passive bonuses that positively impacted all suits, even if only minor improvements. I also can't imagine an Eve vet who doesn't specialize into other fittings and suits (ships in Eve) for different roles. You are blowing my mind. 7 years in New Eden, and I've never met anyone with this mentality before.

Fitting optimizations do seem to have become a bit nulled over time. I am not sure if this is due to all of the number changes or if the TTK makes that very slight amount of extra HP or reps you get from upgrading a module not worth it. It could be neither of them. |

lol of course you are going to run out of things to spec into if you artificially limit yourself, saying "No I wont want to fly, I dont want to drive tanks, I dont care too much about commando....etc"
Well what do you expect then!?!!?
It would be like playing eve, maxing out a single line of Tech 1 frigates and being like, "I have done it all... there is nothing else for me to do"
No I dont want to do trading and get all of those skills, I dont want to use any bigger ships than the basic small puny frigates, I dont care about squad leading and squad boosting, I dont care about exploration and pve, I dont want capital ships.... etc.
Basically the game is what you make of it. Of course you will run out of things to skill into if you start limiting yourself early! Why not try getting good with dropships and then later ADS?
Why not try to get good with tanks!? Try another races line of suits and try another play style?

I understand where calvin is coming from. i'm at 65.5m and i have 9-10 proto suits, the weapons i want are at minimum prof 3 with rapid reload and ammo between 3-5 and the ones i really like are at prof 5 (CR, PR, SL) that includes sidearms too and my core skills are pretty mcuh all at lv5 bar hacking (4) shield recharge/regulators and cloaking. Currently i'm going about skilling into things i have BPOs for but i am beginning to run out of skills i want to train and more the stuff i'm now training just because i can and it might be usefull. not everyone will want to skill into vehicles or every weapon because they either don't like how they work or part of the RPG element of the game and they stick to a certain racial skillpath. the hardcore guys who still spend a considerable amoutn of money on boosters that are already at 70-80m sp arn't going to be very long before they are just piling passive sp up to just sit there unless we start to get new skills in for the new suits, weapons and vehicles ect but again, thats only if the players like the new stuff introduced
to be honest i was very suprised as to how high the new skill cap was, i would have expected it to have been 500k a week at most. if its to allow new players to catch up i would have perhaps gone with the idea of giving new players 2 or 3x passive and active sp for the first 30days with a weekly skillcap for the rest of us bumped up to 400k (just over double we have currentlly)
p.s fitting optimizations for PG really need fixing. i got level 3 on my CR and it didn't do jack s**t and it aint cheap
