I haven't read this whole thread but the op's first post imo is being overdramatic.
You can see a future where everyone goes fotm... Or I can also see a future where stuff is balanced. 4 races, each with an assault, scout, heavy, logi, commando... 4x4 is 16. 16 vs 16 battles. Raising the skill cap may increase diversity on the battlefield.
I remember from 1 sp to 30 mill sp I stuck to one suit, one gun, one side arm, one swarm launcher. I maxed all my passives during that time.... Now people can much more easily max their passives and skill into other roles. I think this change will do more good than bad in the long run and if this game truly does have a death sentence then why not let the players get the most out of it before it ends?
Nobody really cares if you wanted to skill into something obscure to feel special. What the people want is a balanced game. What they want is to be able to play a very customizable balanced fps. This change opens more doors than it closes.

Why exactly does that sting though?.
New players will be able to get up to our level much quicker. This also means that we won't have as much of an advantage over most of the players and therefore, the quit dust rate of new players won't be so low. This also means that pubs should get better so we won't have to no life it with cheese ball tactics in PC for some decent level of play.
How is that a bad thing?.
Just the grind that I went through to get my skills. I didn't like any of the triple SP events that much either but I'm all for whatever brings new players in so don't get me wrong I like the SP changes as I hope more players stick around. I will admit that it does devalue a little bit of our grind and effort in the past but you are right in thinking more new players may stick around. I get the same feeling. If this expands the life span of the game, I am all for it. If it creates more diverse and unique battles. I am all for that too.
I can see the positive effect these changes may bring. Feeling the devalue of my work and looking at what these changes could mean to the player base, I am willing to bite my ego and let it go if this ends up being good for everyone else.

Oh god, can you imagine triple SP events now? New cap + stacked omega boosters x triple SP = 6,750,000 SP That is more money going into the game. Also at my sp level, that boost hardly matters...
After a certain sp point.. You already have multiple suits, maxed passives, multiple guns, ect. All at a proto level. Anymore sp just opens up a few more options but you can only use one suit at a time..So in my eyes the value of sp starts to goes down after first 30m sp. The first 30m sp is probably the most critical. If this brings alot more noobs up to speed with vets the game will feel alot more balanced imo.
