A mobile CRU on a Dropship hovering at the ceiling above an objective seems to me to be one of the most powerful yet underused tools in the toolbox of DUST 514 mercs.
I don't even think mobile CRU's can be exhausted meaning they have unlimited spawns. A dropship at ceiling would only be touchable by another ADS.
I don't fly dropships so maybe I'm missing something here. I realize there are no WP's for the pilot. Maybe changing this would encourage this tactic.
Would it be spammed? What about 5 or 10 WP's per spawn for the pilot as an incentive?
Just scatter shooting here.

I am assuming you mean "piranha". Please feel free to elaborate. Players choose where they want to spawn.

Letting your team spawn in your dropship, flying over and hovering over an objective and then hot dropping them while low is a valid tactic.
Having the mercs have to use inertia dampeners is a death warrant. They couldnt even fight back against even a decent blueberry team. Dropping them far from an objective defeats the point of transport. |

OK, good, at least now we have a dialogue.
The situation would correct itself, meaning if the enemy team had numbers or was farming the drops would move or stop.
At ceiling for skirmish, a DS can drop several clones in quick succession before the enemy would be aware.
For that matter forget the point of dropping them at ceiling. I guess my thought was why there is no incentive for a pilot, tanker, or LAV'er to equip a mobile CRU as this seems like a forgotten and vastly underused tactic.
I am not saying I'm right, just curious what others think.
Let's face it, the forums are thin at the moment. I welcome any humor or ideas.

I try to do this. I run solo though so I can only offer it to blueberries. If i did run with a squad it would work better. Blueberries don't always use it.
When a blueberry spawns though i drop down from center ceiling and do a flyby. This tends to be what people prefer. They jump out where they want as I pass. Think where you would want to drop out at.
If i run with turrets then i drop down and let people gun. Usually, nobody hits anything. I'm all about fun though so I feel like I'm running an amusement park ride and drink my beer.
I usually do this when I'm lazy, teams getting stomped and don't feel like doing anything else. At least you are offering something more than afking.
Otherwise, I do this while I practice evasive DS maneuvering.
If I can find regular folks that I could enjoy doing this with I'd do it for a premade squad. Look me up under Operative 1174 Uuali.

I can't figure out why they haven't provided ADV and PRO MCRUs.
Make it fit with an afterburner, good tank, a scanner.
If you gave it 25 WP a spawn it would really change the game.

You get a transport and scan WP bonus. When someone drops out it takes a bit then the bonus pops up. If you run a scanner you get intel kill bonuses.

If you gave it 25 WP a spawn it would really change the game. Eh, we might get more incentive to try it, but people will still avoid it.
1) We still don't have the ability to kick people out. Flying in a dropship with 6 people with the inability to press the circle button makes me very mad, especially if I want to recall it for something else. This means either A) we get shot down and half our team dies or B) I sit around waiting to recall my dropship with half my team doing nothing except uselessly occupying slots in my dropship.
2) A DS equipped MCRU is very fickle. OP references dropships flying around at max altitude hot-dropping mercs around the map which alludes to him never actually doing this, or reasserting my second point. As I'm aware, there seems to be a minimum and maximum altitude for the dropship to be at in my usage of it, aka it's impossible to spawn on a MCRU dropship while it's flying at max altitude. However, I've heard of stories where people spawn on a MCRU while the DS is on the ground. Furthermore, others state you have to be bleed out completely in order to spawn on an MCRU. However when it comes to LAV and Tank MCRUs, those seem to work fine. So what are the guidelines? Nobody seems to know reinforcing this point.
3) MCRUs are stuck at 10 second spawns. There's no modifier to decrease this. So people tend to go for Proto Flux Uplinks or uplinks placed by a person skilled into Amarr Logi 5 and wearing a suit. Faster spawns, closer to the objective, why would you spawn on a DS equipped MCRU? Well one more thing comes to mind why you don't...
4) Spawned into a "death spiral" DS. The dropship was shot down as you spawned, the cancel deployment bugged out, you only have one option. Spawn into the ship, bail, and hope the DS doesn't take you out with it (in the case of FW or PC, it most certainly will).
There are WAY too many negatives to having a MCRU on a dropship. Don't get me wrong, I would love the Eyrx and the Promethus to come back, but they were DSs that had a CRU onboard without needing to waste a slot. You could fit an AB, Scanner, it has the MCRU built in, and then either armor or reps, whatever fit your fancy.
I've only seen them be used sparingly and, when a good team uses it correctly, they have the ability to be a powerful and awe-inspiring tactical asset. But blueberry sightseers, packing your DS full like sardines, with the opposition not afraid to AV your flying tombstone into the ground, the MCRU can be a negative force multiplier that can break your entire team to pieces.

I play games when I'm bored where I just fly around putting uplinks down on roofs with a mobile CRU on a dropship. It really only works when in a squad as most casual players don't know that you have to be completely cloned out (no rez timer) to spawn into the vehicle. Or they're idiots that start shooting at the enemy turrets. |

This makes me seriously miss my logi DS.
I use to hang at the ceiling with a mCRU and a couple of active scanners to swoop down and light everything up from time to time. It was worth it even with the fact that at the time it was guaranteed to net you a big fat zero thanks to no scan points and no spawn points. |

Just scatter shooting here. people have tried it and most "droppers" are dead soon as they hit the ground. as for WP you get +15 points per kill a "transport assisted" player scores. so you end up dropping all 15 of your team on the point thats +15 per player who scores a kill and depending on how meny kilsl it can add up to more then Uplinks give.. sadly i think its possably bugged and dosnt apply to LAV or HAV transport/MCRU

In all seriousness I think having transport only dropships with badass scanners and mobile CRUs would be sweet.
Have different variants with logi bonuses, mobile supply depot capabilities, etc. You could do a lot with them.
I could see some serious air battles during the opening stages of a PC match.
