Sometimes I have to cloak. The principle reason is that I am noticing more and more people checking their six and I also have to deal with snipers. Besides, cloaks are no longer easy mode like they use to be. Everyone seems to have adapted to have hawk eyes since the shimmer kind of makes you stand out. The shimmer make you stand out even more if the map happens to be even slightly dark. At that point, I might as well run without the cloak and rely on the terrain because the contrast will make me stand out to a sniper. They also develop a noise when decloaking. Anyone who is paying attention at all will notice the sound and start evading (happened to me a lot).
But anyways, I don't see knives ever getting a nerf anytime in the future. You can't sprint-charge with them, you can't throw them, and if you miss your mark -- which does happen a lot -- you're screwed. You'll also need to wear expensive proto gear to be able to OHK your target unless you're targeting other scouts which makes it even more challenging because most other scouts are wielding shotguns which have an advantage over you already.
Knives, are ok where they are. They are just everywhere because CCP finally decided to release militia variant knives which have an even small base damage than that of the standard knives.

It's because you or musturd is taking the lead for sure. yeah Maken is really good and I'm only doing the SP part of the event (did), unfortunately I'm pretty sure that Musturd quit the game, but I might be wrong He's running PRO Scouts in Ambush with mlt knives.
I'm trying to stick with the standard/advanced level suit because those proto suits are expensive to lose. Occasionally I do use some protos if my wallet is willing to allow me. Another fit I'm experimenting with is the Amarr Scout A/1-Series where I fit enhanced armor plates. It slows me down like hell but it allows me to absorb more hits so I can take down an extra merc or at least even the odds against a heavy. Unfortunately such a fit puts me at a disadvantage against other scouts. But in every suit I bring along a pair of Flux Grenades to knock out the shields so I have a better chance of killing my targets. Fluxes are a safe bet if you don't want to kill your target with it before being able to stab it and you can spam a room full of enemy equipment for extra WPs and without accidentally killing yourself in the process.
