Since delta is impossible to evade swarms with ADS. I use a python but without afterburner, and I tried spins, normal U, inverted U, innelman, back to front, rolls, and when anythin worked I tried the afterburner. Is no way, nothing works, is stupid fly with ADS because the militia swarm will hunt you, swarms are unstoppable now, so change the name, they not are swarm, they are Juggernaut

I could say the same to the ADS. Hovering on top of infantry, you can hide but you can't run. Hovering over tanks, you can run but you can't hide.
So I am glad there is a good counter now.

It's unfortunate and something I would like to see fixed. My understanding is that it would reward pilots who can manoeuvre their craft, while punishing those who simply used an afterburner to fly away in a straight line.
It stems from 2 major flaws in the Swarm Launcher delivery. 1) The swarm launcher bases it's tracking of the orginal posistion of the craft and only updates once visual has been lost.
2) Despite the reduction to the Swarms turning circle, the swarm is still capable of doing 180-¦ turns (on a dime no less) at either end of it's flight path. (Launch and within 5m of target)
Ideally the AI for swarms needs to be redone slightly. As such I will offer a pseudo code solution when I have the time.

Lag compensation for homing projectiles is a terrible compromise for netcode designers. So if you see your local missiles take a 90-¦ corner it may be possible the server saw them fly in a perfect arc - it just didn't bother to update you're PS3's data in the meantime.
On the other hand I may also be entirely wrong and there's all sorts of problems with the swarm AI. Very possible.
For what it's worth I recently (post Delta) spotted a swarm missile fly circles around an LAV that was standing on a bridge. The missile must have been doing turns at a radius of less than 10 meters. |

Cover is your friend. Seriously. Flying straight away from them is asking to be caught up. Flying round cover means you're more likely to survive. Dont fly dumb. Fly smart.

(Sometimes I wonder about some players)
A counter for ADS would be either a forge gun, a railgun tank or a railgun installation. On top of another ADS countering the enemy ADS (However self counters are not counters)

Your options are:
1.) Adjust your fittings to allow you to tank 2-3 SL volleys, you should be out of their engagement range well before they fire the 4th volley.
2.) HTFU and deal with it like tankers have to when ADSs fire at them with impunity because they can't aim up high enough to fire back at you.
3.) Uninstall DUST 514 because you're terrible at flying ADSs and relied on the Afterburner to carry you.

The 'terminal' vector is similar to grenades, flying bodies and even thrown equipment, what you are seeing a client side simulation not server side.
What you are also seeing is the two collaborating a story to catch up and tell the truth, this causes slight desyncing.

I think that you don't understand me... I fly covering but swarms turn around the buildings and hit me. Is IMPOSSIBLE, i never fly straight in one direction, that is for noobs, and now is not a solution. I think that colddown from afterburner was enought to nerf ads, but increase tje swarm aceleration is terrible

What about try to fly behind some structure. I know its easy to shoot down running boyos, but hell there should be counter aswell, for some balance. Next time, try to take you flying thingie somewhere behind something. Swarmies cant go around thingies, they are guided directly

We found that the old corkscrew and loop-de-loop maneuvers no longer work, but swarms can be still be scrubbed using structures and terrain.

I almost always carry swarmies. Only 3 dropships (if that) since Delta have wanted to play with them. I've had damage points pretty much every time, but I still can't take them down on my own. It's definitely not OP. |

Seeing this both as a Swarmer and a Pilot. Now the swarms changing direction rapidly when tracking kicks, or when the framerate drops, I would prehaps expect.
But watching MY swarms take a lazy curve towards my target, miss them by maybe 10m, then instantaneously pull a 180 to hit in the weakspot, that sure as hell ain't lag compensation, not when both me and my target are showing 0 signs of lag. (It's very easy to tell a lagging dropship)
But watching a volley of swarms chase me AROUND a building, miss me by 20m then suddenly turn and hit on my now facing flank, (which had orginally been facing away), that sure as hell ain't lag compensation.
It just seems a little unfair, that swarms are guaranteed hit on my ADS because I don't equip an afterburner, yet all the aerobatics in the world do nothing to safe me either.

Many bad pilots think they a good pilots. I was in a group earlier and the leader said I could call down a ads, but I can't fly it and another member of the group said I am a great pilot I will fly it. Now I am a fantastic pilot, but would not take the chance on burning up someone else isk I would just drop my own. I knew as soon as this young man spoke up it would be a short run and seconds later the ads was a burning pile on the ground. Don't bring out ships for anyone else to fly and don't believe anyone that says they are a good pilot. The moral of the story is if they don't have there own ships they are fail.... The End.

Its actually not terrible advice, ADS hell eve other vehicles was little bit OP and most of infatry used easy and mostly only logical pirate way to avoid overbuffed vehicle Now we finaly can feel balance through risk/reward system, when any pilot must use real strategy (in using enviroment) instead to be a tank/flying slayer 514 How MA'am told, Kill us or we'll kill ya matee boyo

I'd have to see the post-Delta comparison of dropships killed before I can really comment on this but using swarms I haven't seen a great deal of difference in how many kills I am making. I do drive off ADS now and they don't seem as eager to hunt me down. The complaints on the forum make it seem like they are dropping like flies but I still see them and tanks dominating many matches and definitely controlling the tide of the game.

Apparently to the Devs we should be able to Outmaneuver the swarms but they didn't factor in The Buildings ( If Any ) , The Forge Guns also shooting you, and the lack of speed. They should really skill into items they wish to change.

Vehicules are a expensive inversion in skill points and ISK compares with infantry, and have a expensive learning path losing a lot of tanks/ADS. If a soldier dies 10 times in a battle using proto fits a pilot can use just one vehicule, and now AV are most effective with a little inversion or no inversion in sp. So yes, I'm angry with all the complains about AV, they not understand pilots sotiation. And don't forgive thee skill nerf from 10% to 3% ROF in a x8 skill... Somebody thinks that CCP hates pilots?

vehicles do not cost 3m a pop. you are just butthurt that your braindead vehicles was changed into one that now requires brain. what is the problem? does it hurt using some braincells?

But watching MY swarms take a lazy curve towards my target, miss them by maybe 10m, then instantaneously pull a 180 to hit in the weakspot, that sure as hell ain't lag compensation, not when both me and my target are showing 0 signs of lag. (It's very easy to tell a lagging dropship) But watching a volley of swarms chase me AROUND a building, miss me by 20m then suddenly turn and hit on my now facing flank, (which had orginally been facing away), that sure as hell ain't lag compensation. It just seems a little unfair, that swarms are guaranteed hit on my ADS because I don't equip an afterburner, yet all the aerobatics in the world do nothing to safe me either. Except for being 175m away, which you can cover before a swarmer can launch 3 volleys at yyou, three volleys that you can easily survive if you just don't fit a scanner.
If I'm a 175m away from a 175m lock on weapon I would onlh expect one to hit me. It's more when I'm 80m away, I can be practically psychic, I'd still be hit.
