You guys are so against it and won't give valid reasons why. Fotm? People already have it and would likely just skill into it again and if they don't have it, they probably are getting it now and just need a few more skill points to get it. |

getting into proto of what some scrubs call "FOTM" takes maximum two weeks. everyone already has it or is working for it right now.
spending all your SP into proto stuff of a different playstyle is completely different, this would take months.
anyway dust is dead and the SP do not matter |

No, it won't. It mean's people will take their level 3 to level 5. They'll actually lose variety in their suits and weapons.
Echo 1991 wrote: You guys are so against it and won't give valid reasons why. Fotm?
Yep. That and the hotfixes aren't done and people will want a respec after each hotfix

You do realize you answered your own question, right? It pertains to my first answer above
Not to mention the technical back end CCP would need to do for the respec which has been answered so many times on the forums, I'm surprised the DEVs haven't stickied it to the top of every page in every forum.

Theres no reason not to get one now other than it being too much effort for the small team working on dust.

I hate to reign in on your parade over here, but CCP Z said that there has been a change of plans since he last posted before he disappeared into obscurity. Therefore, DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH for a respec system in Legion.

CCP Z wrote: Hello,
And sorry for not giving any answer for quite a while, but as you can see in my other thread, Market has been my focus for the past couple of months (and a lot of secret other stuff of course!).
Basically, a lot of good points were made during this discussion and I had some long chats regarding the Progression System. I looked at all the different proposal, our vision for what the Progression for Legion should be evolved a lot since Fanfest.
So a lot of changes will be made from the presentation I made. Even though we want to change the way Progression was in DUST, we still want to keep some important mechanics you guys love.
So for now, I will close this Thread and get back to you as soon as we have the Progression 2.0 Design.
Thanks a lot for all your Feedback, it helps us a lot making the right choice for our game.
Z
There you have it. Something(s) has or will be changed. He didn't say what those changes are going to be so don't get your hopes up too high for a respec system in Legion. If it comes and you were expecting it, good for you. If it doesn't come, oh well. Tough luck just like how I was expecting a secondary market in Dust that never came.
PS: I have +1'ed your replies not because I agree with you but because I wanted to bring this to your attention.

Cool, but what I meant was that when we transfer our characters to Legion (if/when etc.) they're likely going to give us a lump sum of SP. If there is a respec system in Legion; cool. If there is no respec systen in Legion; cool. If they transfer our skill trees from Dust into Legion; uncool.
tl;dr: SP transfer from Dust into Legion in the form of unallocated SP ~ respec

Considering that CCP Z, in that 30+ page thread I linked, said that the skill progression in Legion will be vastly different than that of Dust, it is extremely unlikely and improbable that our skill trees will transfer given the magnitude of the changes that he was referring to. So you are safely correct to assume that our SP will transfer over.
However, I need to point out something. Given the fact that CCP Z wants to streamline our progression for Legion, it's also unlikely that our current SP in Dust will transfer over in the same 1:1 ratio to Legion. Remember that our current skill tree in Dust is estimated by CCP to take approximately 5-7 years to completely train up and that's only for the skills we have available now. But there is the skill book multiplier to account for. The skills in Legion for Dropsuits (for example) might be more streamlined but invariably end up with higher multipliers or we might see more skills for dropsuits but with lower multipliers. Depending on how it goes we might see either a negative transfer ratio of our SP from Dust to Legion such as 1.1:1 or 1.5:1 something to that effect, or a neutral transfer ratio of 1:1.
I'm just letting you know.

And we all know what happens to Flavor of the Months. They get the nerf bat. That Bolt Pistol seems like a likely target right now.

They've caved in before - could happen again. To up your chances you might want to claim they've somehow lied to you and demands refunds on merc packs, or that they forced you to spec into something and its unfair for you to get punished for it now. Don't worry if the claims don't make sense, it's not a requirement. ;) |
