Ive played quite a bit due to the ongoing event and it seems that matchmaking works. Well you get the odd match where 1 side stomps the other but that is not the usual buisness. So im gonna sum it up in a simple manner:
-n00bs play vs other n00bs -squads face other squads
When you get into a match where 2 squads are facing each other then the game takes a big step up to competetive standards and you see more stuff that is prefered by vets. Like you see full bricktanked heavys or scouts with proper ewar etc. That means you will have no time to do some fun scrubby stuff and you need to focus 100% or you will loose. With that aswell the quality of the average blueberry increases. Sure they are still nothing that you should rely on but at least they know which end of their gun is the dangerous one.
Another thing is when proper players are on the field its much more likely that they are specced into proper AV and not just the militia swarm launcher on a starter fit. So when theres a supply depot on ambush and you are driving around in a tank it is more likely that people run up to it and change out to proto av to turn your ADS/TANK into scrapmetal.
Bright is the opposite of dark! Who would have thought of that?!

They tried to fix the matchmaking so that people can't qsinc in pubs. Yet I still see 2 squads from 2 corps qsinced in a damn pub match. Giant fail in my opinion. The only time for qsincing is in PC or factional. In pubs its just a qsinc vs a team of brain dead retards that can't do anything because of excessive uplink spam, proto spam, ads rapid fire exploits, etc

My experience has not been so good. In fact I would say Ive gone through some of the worst match since I started playing this game. Ive played around 25-30 matches since the matchmaking fix and only about 5 matches were decent.
On this character I usually have about 2.3 weekly KDR. This week its about 1.0 after 10 matches. My second alt is about the same, and my third (like no skills) I just played my first match match and went 4-7.
What I have noticed is that after doing 10 or so matches they started to get back to normal again. So, maybe the Mu has to adjust or something. Im glad Im persistent otherwise I would have quit....permanently. |

Not for me. Ive played 20 matches and only 1 out of 20 turned out to be bad. After all Im impressed.
MAG Raven vet 7 times. Favorite weapon F90 and Highest Kills 78 and 23 deaths.

Followup: Just played my second game on 5m Sp alt and went 19-9. It was actually a really fun match considering that character has such low SP. So, I dont know what is going on. If my theory about Mu adjusting is correct then it would kind of make sense. Less data so Mu can adjust faster whereas if there is more data behind it, it would take longer for it to adjust.
Im still hopeful. |

its never going to change until there is a battle mode that does not allow proto gear
if you're getting "advanced gear stomped" you're either a bad player or your team is full of bad players, even moreso than the current proto stomp |

With a larger player base one could very easily create 2 or more matches at the same time, and a detection to see what time the squads signed up for, then separate them out via the timestamp, and possibly corporation name/affiliation. Such a thing would literally prevent any kind of "queue synching".

I'm very impressed with the matchmaking, before you would either see noobs vs noobs or squad vs noobs but now it's like 2 squads equaling 7 vs a full squad of 6 which means the fights are much more varied and challenging |

What were the match scores? Because you saying your kdr went from 2.3 to around 1 and that your newest alt did worse tells me matchmaking is working extremely well.

Really? Last night we had 2 alliance squads Qsyncing. Five matches in a row, every single one we were on opposite teams. Plus I've had only one match where it was a complete stomp since the update.

Dont remember the scores exactly, but they were mostly low kills low WP games. Couple of time I went 0-4 and 0-7. That never happens. Teams I was on were getting shutout completely.
And, no, my newest character is doing better than my older ones.
But, as I mentioned in an earlier post, its seems to be leveling out some but haven't played on my main to test it fully yet. Im not complaining, just saying what I've experienced. |

An issue that is getting a little frustrating is matches not fully filling up i have been in 4 or 5 matches where its been the full 16 vs 10 or less players.
I also noticed that if a squad backs out during a match that the places don't seem to get filled and the match gets left at a an unfair balance. even though that's not down to mechanics i still think that places should be properly filled out to keep the team numbers balanced.
Hopefully any dumb bugs will be eliminated in good time.

LOL there is some crying going on cause people who where under the impression that they were good have quickly found out that is not the case. i have never seen so many proto stompers run to there redline to go thales snipe because all of a sudden there in a real fight. great job CCP now you can see who has the heart to fight and who is scared to lose one proto suit.

But you also have to account for how effective that team is after it loses a squad. If a squad were to leave from a team of randoms and it was the randoms that were doing most of the work, I don't think the rest of the team will miss the squad.

Good thing I have my Proto Minmatar Scout fitted for maximum speed and damage just to kill those Thale snipers. If I can reach you in 20 seconds, you're dead.
Of course I die as a result of the redline but I don't care. But yeah, I call this fit "Courting Lady Redline".

People seem to missunderstand what the matchmaking is supposed to do. Its there so that you play vs people that are around the same skill lvl as you (not SP you muppets!). So when your KDR went down then CCP did something right. The closer the matches the better the system worked out. Its aswell more healthy when on ambush the kills are spread among the team and not just onto 6 guys who got 80% of the kills. Matches last longer, more people get killed (overall on both sides combined) and the outcome is closer as previously.

-matches are harder -running full proto gets more expensive to run (cause you die more) -matches are more interesting as just a complete stomp
