So I'm new to the PLC but I loved it so much I just put about 2m sp into the weapon and its so much bloody fun and just awesome to use!
That being said, while it rewards skilled / lucky shots against soft infantry targets it severely lacks in the AV dept. The projectile flight speed is just too slow. The only reason I can see the speed being as slow as it is - is a balancing feature in terms of viable range?
So my proposal:
- Increase PLC projectile speed somewhat, I couldn't give you a number but it needs to be faster. (This is the main issue I feel)
- Increase direct damage a bit so it can actually do something to vehicles. (Splash is fine as is, dont reward inaccuracy)
I know there are some of you out there much more versed in the ways of the PLC than me, what do you think?

Heavies even can side step the Plasma Cannon, ADS literally just have to gain slight altitude or drift slowly to the side and it will miss, if they are that low flying and slow they deserve to die. |

the hit detection on this thing is incosistent. just saying.
even on flat surface, the splash damage sometimes refuses to register beyond 0.5m radius. I tested this on stationary targets. not to mention that projectile sometimes goes straight through dropsuits.
increase projectile speed would be great though. |

Yep splash damage is glitchy, don't really know what it is but i suspect it has to do with the ground getting in the way of the damage radius. Shots from above are deadlyGǪ level ground I get a lot more zero damage.

Often an insignificant pebble will absorb a huge blast and protect an enemy entirely. This also seems to be compounded (obviously) by weapons with a compact blast but still occurs with even the AMD, which is maddening.
I've also noticed some severe lag / data problems where these types of weapons will not fire a projectile. The animation goes through complete with sound but no round is fired nor damage dealt.

The PLC is FINE. Its FINE against infantry. Its FINE against vehicles.
Quit qqing about it needing this tweak or that tweak and just frikin PRACTICE it. It is a SKILL SHOT weapon, like an Elephant Gun. It does super high 1shot damage, especially against shields. You crytards turn the PLC into ezmode and the field will be flooded even more by them.
Leave the PLC ALONE!!

I'd like to see the projectile get adhesion to vehicles like AV grenades have. It would be based on vehicle speed. 0 adhesion on a stationary vehicle and significant adhesion for a fast moving vehicle.

It isn't elite mode, its "Works better when not soaked from noobuser tears" mode.

Well consider the vast majority of long time PLC users (and then newer users like myself) agree that projectile speed increase is enough, stop worrying.
Hell I am, only saying that for AV alone is the only reason it needs faster speed, its great as is for anti infantry. Kinda sucks when vehicles can easily out run the projectile.....

I'd love for them to make a variant that can lock onto vehicles and is a guaranteed hit if the target didn't move under cover or out of line of sight. Like the javelin from battlefield or something. Still 1 shOt in a clip, capable of 1.3k damage, only available at level 4 or proficiency 1.

I'd love to see a variant that would lay down 'plasma mines', stationary balls of plasma fire with a half life of 30 seconds or so. Easy for infantry to avoid but great for building tank traps.

I once had a dream about Dust. The graphics were much better, and the only weapon that was changed was the Plasma Cannon. Rather than an arcing projectile, the cannons in my dream fired larger glowing orbs that bounced of a surface once and detonated after a certain period of time. Good lord were they utterly amazing...

The plasma cannon needs a multi-clip assault variant that acts like an anti-shield Mass Driver. Plus, a beastly AV breach variant.
Otherwise, the coming projectile speed buff is fine.

This game has went througfh enough FOTM that making the PLC a spam cannon is a risky choice But Rattati is doing a good job so I'll trust him for now and wait to try out the changes
I do think too fast a projectile will add a RPG to Dust514, cool as that could be... NO If I wanted to run an RPG I would play a shooter that has one.. But Rattati is continuing with the changes so *fingers crossed*
Variants -
- Assault - Less DMG for direct and splash, either quick load/charge or a small clip
- Breach - Instead of capping charge at the 1 second it is now, have an over charge function (ION Pistol) where if I charge for 2 secs = 1000 DMG, 5 secs = 2000 DMG and 10 secs = 3000 DMG (I am only suggesting numbers, it is the style of Breach I really want to see)
I've posted this before and not got much interest but as a Plasma lover these two Variants would be ace The regular would be your Jack-Of-All-Trades, the Assault - Anti-Infantry, Breach - Serious AV
But on the confirmed changes... I really hope the increase in speed is not OP

There are whole topics from over a year ago simply asking that the hit detection issues and the dud shot glitch be fixed. The PLC has always suffered from functional issues first and foremost. We can't claim to know how effective the weapon really is, as it has yet to really function without handicapping glitches. |

After all, if I were to really spend the time learning to use it I would know how to do it but I'm a scrub so I'll just cry on the forums instead and try to get some attention and get the parameters changed to better fit my failures insead of my successes.

This thread, like most PLC buff/nerf/tweak threads, is a product of the unskilled and impatient individuals whose constant pissing and moaning about "issues" take the valuable limited resources of the dev and squander them initiating data analysis of perfectly fine stats when those resources could be instead working to find solutions to the long and well documented list of ever-present game bugs like wonky hit detection, the sprint glitch and laaaaaagggg.

I've put nearly 3m sp into this weapon. Yes I admit that I have only been using it for about a week and after my initial proposal I have clearly said that the projectile speed buff is fine.
You know you can say all of this s**t, the fact is it is part of this game and it is barely used by most. How do you think CCP feel about that?
There are many names I wish to call you but I am going to hold back and not stoop to your level of name calling. Ask anyone who has seen me using this recently if you think I am only using this to kill stationary targets. LOL.
I came here to discuss, if you disagree that's fine but the way you are approaching this sounds like you are the one with the issue here. My goodness some people.....
