I've not seen any thread on it, how would you change it?
I hope not -20 / +20, it would be a little too radical imo, -5 / +5 or -10 / +10 would be more acceptable. Even if the best would be 0/0, no penalties, but no bonus too.
Anyone?

Anyone? If everything minmatar is lolopposite of everything amarr. The obvious choice would be -20/+20.
Currently ScR are +20/ -20 with insane damage. I hope CCP doesn't copy that particular trait.
Was banned for fighting for logistics survival on 7/25/2014 02:11. Logistics will never be respected.

+5/-5 or 0/0 makes projectiles superior to all other weapons. This is bad space.
10/10 is occupied by hybrid weapons. Matching them is pointless and stupid.
-15/+15 or -20/+20 creates a direct, hard counter to armor that matches amarr shield tearing capacity, thereby making shield suits more viable and providing a hard counter to armor tanking that is not dependent upon RE spam or minmatar commando suits.
Explosive weapons are too niche to be common use and they are less than viable against sentinels who have large shield buffers and a 25% flat reduction to splash damage. |

Current damage profile is not mirrored and that creates problem. The lack of a meaningful penalty means the weapon applies its DPS evenly against all comers. Hybrid weapons are supposed to be the most balanced but even they have a 20% damage differential between shields or armor.
If you have -5/+5 the difference is negligible (10%) and at 0/0 there is no penalty. This means for the weapon there is no difference. You cannot change suit classes to gain better survivability vs. 0/0. Your choice of tank no longer matters.
The reason for divergent damage profiles is so that each item is strong vs. Another item. A 0/0 or -5/+5 is strong against all profiles.
This removes any chance of a hard counter. Nevermind with the prevalence of projectiles changing the gap higher makes shields a lot more viable.
It means that there will no longer be a clear 100% optimal weapon choice for all situations. |

my cal sent will love these changes.. until it's shields are gone but then it already dies semi instantly when they're gone so not too much of a difference for my armour
this will also make the smg slightly less used, if your using a cr or hmg then you'll want a shield sidearm in theory.
same goes it might provide incentive to carry armour sidearms when using shield weapons.. or make people play to destroy one or the other.. it will make weapon selection more important.
only let down is with the missing heavy weapons, if we ever do get an opportunity to provide any ccp please make sure its a priority.

Except on the calscout which cannot be killed with an HMG unless the scout is clinically recognised as IQ 72 or lower. |

the math was done a couple weeks ago. cal sent should be tanking about 2 full seconds of hmg fire before its shields drop.

I was mostly being smartass. It means the calsent will live about as long as an amarr sent.

Darn its already hard to kill cal suits with the combat rifle. I can't even get close enough to flux the proto cal assault because of those rail rifles. Oh well, but then again full proficiency i am getting +30% to armor sounds good on paper but i feel i'll be reloading after i take down a suits shield....(sigh) lets see what happens.
Looks my 3 mill for the MMC event will go to the rail rifle.
