This argument started too dam late so please don't get all up in arms about it now because this game has an expiration date and the community doesn't know when .... trying to start this discussion now is pointless .
If you want to make the starting of the experience better then give better instructions for new players and lengthen the process before they graduate , like they must accumulate one hundred thousand war points or five million skill points before they graduate .
That gives them time to find squad mates , help them to develop strategy and gives them a longer period of playing with similar skilled players and not thrown into the mix with players who are clearly more overwhelming .
There is not need to strip gear or give a massive cushion to players , even more so when most of the community are alts and players have 3 or more alts on several accounts . This is skill stacking what most of you are proposing , where you have multiple alts with massive amounts of skill points .. ready to stomp at a moments notice .
This is not helping new player experience at all .
Constructive communication and instruction is what new players need the most .
They need more time gaining instruction and becoming familiar with the environment .
The whole community needs better matchmaking .
New players shouldn't have any of the perks that the previous players didn't have , they need better instruction ... a longer process to help them get familiar with the game , the mechanics and the purpose of their creation as a part of the New Eden universe .
I started when all of these things that we are experiencing , have come to pass and is still evolving .... yes it was hard but that was because as a new player I didn't have any instruction or direction . CCP did a horrible job in that instance and relied on the community to be it's tutorial .
If we didn't have so many players with multiple accounts and the ability to not manipulate that fact , then this discussion would be worth while but when you have players talking about the " new player experience " , I don't get that vibe ... I sense another way to manipulate the system so players could have multiple proto on multiple accounts with multiple alts and that's not new player experience . That's alt skill stacking and leaving this game in a worst environment with an even worst experience for " real new players " and not alts .
Edit : I'm starting to see players admit that newer players know nothing about the newsletter or the forum , so when these people carry a banner for the " New player experience " ... I have to question their real intentions .
I spoke on this topic before but like the examples that I have made earlier , there are ways that one can actually help newer players without adding another manipulative mechanic in game .
Delta should come with a SP or infantry SP refund so that a campaign for one is not needed .

Example:
person a: Argh, that really sucked. I hate how I've died x amount of times to this proto scout with proto shotgun. I hate this game!! person b: I know, right? but did you see how I crashed that dropship? person a: lol. that was pretty funny. person b: lost a lot of isk. oh well. want to play another match? person a: sure!!
You know, most new players are perfectly happy just playing the game. We understand that there are a lot of players better than us, that there are a lot of tactics that may seem cheap, and that we have a long way to go before we can play competitively, but it is ALL PART OF THE GAME.
Besides, if I had to guess who's doing the most complaining, I would say it is players stuck somewhere between intermediate and vet status and are sick of not being able to cross that last hurdle.
so leave us new players out of this!! Nerf your own game! We're just going to enjoy Dust. So there!
Smart person right here ^^^^^^ , everybody doesn't need their hand held and big fat cushions to start out this game and if they quit then maybe they were going to do that anyway and Dust is just not the game for them , everybody doesn't like to work and Dust makes you work and that's one of the things that I love about this game .
You have to fight to win and not have items and things handed to one on a silver platter .
Some people like games that are a challenge and not P2W .

I for one , don't see what your talking about .
When you start a job , you start on the bottom .
In sports , the same ... even if your good you have to win the respect of others around you .
In life you have to crawl before you walk and your fed before you can feed yourself .
Your right about one thing though , quitting and if I was that weak of mind or don't like to work ... then I would have but I like competition and challenges .
This game has been around for some years and the premise is that you have to work , so why complain about that and the fact that there are some who work hard for what they have and some who have worked longer at it as well ?
I like to fight , I fight for my life every day , I have to have strength of mind and body to survive so why shy away from Dust ???
I don't get frustrated because I understand the mechanics and that makes me want to work that much harder .
When I didn't understand then it made me mad but hell this is a fighting game and I'm here to do just that and I'm not letting players who have put in the work before me run me off and I'm not going to let the fact that I have to work .. do the same and that's run me off .
Some people like that in this game and it's what keep it interesting for them .
But I am a man and not a child or teenager so that might have something to do with it as well but in that instance , I know teens that are more mature then adults so I just think that it's all about the individual .

I agree with you in that it does take work to get anywhere in existence, but what the newbies are going through in dust is not hard work. if you were to get synked into 5 matches in a row and all you could do was sit behind the redline or go 5-30 over and over again would you appreciate the game that's constantly ******* you up the ass or would you quit it because you don't see anything that would make the experience enjoyable?
That's why I mentioned the changes that I did where one is not thrown into pub matches unprepared and not knowing what to expect .
Give them a lengthy tutorial where experience will be their guide and they are educated by playing like opponents for a greater length of time and the premise is still , " if your that good then it won't take you that long to graduate " , but graduation should be more lengthy in terms of earning skill points and war points .
I don't know the numbers but I would say like three million skill points because that gives enough time to become familiar with the mechanics , the tempo and gain some associates and create squads or corps .
Gives enough time to make some creative decisions with some help and instruction from CCP instead of a computer voice that's helping one to understand nothing .
Instructions must be given and the road must be paved by those instructions in history of races , roles , weapons , skills and so on .
