There are better ways to help new players that don't involve leaving vets out. For example, changing Academy Graduation to 15k WP. |

Me me me! How come they get that and I don't get anything?! Well, Johnny, because they need it and you don't. Because the game needs a solution for newer players, a way for them to bridge the gap so that they can stop being the 0/8 guys at the bottom of the ambush screen with the name you never heard of and then leave after a week or two, cursing this game and vowing to never play another CCP game.
Face the truth people: this progression system is BROKEN. It does not work for players entering the game now or even those who started a few months ago. There is no playground for them away from us. They are stuck in the same little battlefinder with the same little community all the time. And they're the losers. They'll come even close to our SP, and they will suffer greatly from it because SP opens up so many doors and makes a huge difference in what you're able to do in battle.
To those who b*tch about them getting something for nothing: first of all, look at the big picture. Something needs to be done to lift up these peasants and at least bring them into the middle class. We need more competition in matches! There are way too many pushovers! We need more player retention! How long do you think someone's gonna stick around after being constantly bullied? If the changed the matchmaking to separate them from us then maybe that would do it, but this is a lot easier for them to do. Seems like the have no clue how to fix matchmaking. They've failed to do so for months so.....let's try something more straightforward.
Secondly, what does it matter to you? You still would get some SP, the game would be funner, and more people would be online. This is a win for everyone. The status quo is hastening the death of the game. We all know they'll pull the plug eventually but it'll be a lot sooner if we can't find a way to get the have-nots closer to us right from the start. We're all in the same little battle finder boat. We need to take measures to right our little ship as best we can, and newbros have to be a huge focus if we're going to do that. |

Well how about we all wait and see what rattati has up his sleeve for delta, he has been talking about a new mu based matchmaking and if it is possible it'll be a step in the right direction.
As for now there's no really easy way to help the newberries out other than squading up with them and helping them through other means

It's a really bad idea. Giving so many sp would absolutely kill the game goal: "Working hard to get sp to have what you want and be better." 15mil would give anyone a full proto suit with proto weapons instantly! Where is the game then? Where is the challenge?? There would be NONE. If you're pissed off with a character and you want the FOTM, just create another alt with 15mil and go for it!
One of the worst idea in dust forum history ^^
The only thing I'd do to help not only newbies but everybody (so it's fair for everybody) is to increase the weekly cap by 350k or something like this ^^ Newbies will grind faster but not too fast so they can have the time to chose what kind of gameplay they want to have.
Sorry for my bad english ^^

ok ck this...i'm a 2 month newbie, i believe everyone is thinking to hard about this "problem". all ccp need to do is remove the cap on new players for like 6 months. this will encourage play and allow them to earn by grinding (capping out every wk has been my goal and as a newbie 1000 isn't crap but its all thats given). at the same time sp wont be wasted all at once.
now this is where most of you will hate me but as far as the vets, you don't get anything. i've been reading comments about this upcoming event for 1 mil in sp and most if not all the vets are saying "i got 20 mil, 40 mil, 50 mil....whats 1 mil going to do for me..i'll sit this out..." now i've read those type of statements elsewhere under other topics and your right, what will it do for you?...nothing, so this "no cap" will be to limited players outside of newbies. besides, when new gear is drop and the only ppl getting it from jump are vets...your not yelling "thats unfair" or "they need to give it to everyone regardless" (timing is everything).
either you want more competition and better gaming or you want to continue with the bs game play (cloakers camping out for strays near mcc, ppl camping out on links with re, ppl camping with lav to run others over the whole match...etc). see, everyone that is complaining about how the game is being played don't understand what the problem is...the key word is camping. in such an intense game no one should be able to camp anywhere (hell snipers have a time limit b4 someone moves them). but they can and y, because the competition is low, retention is low. i'm in my second month, i just learn to join a squad doing a battle. what shocked me is the number of ppl running alone when we are able to do this. most of the time there would be 2 squads with 2 or 3 ppl....and the rest free balling. that means we are mins away from being pushed back to the mcc. that means you vets will be sitting at our gate (redline for you subspects) waiting for us to come out and play (not knowing that half has left the game and the other half die to much not to get those sp in the end). as nice as this game is, its fast tracked to be more about trickery instead of skill all because of skill and that will be the death of it.
another action needed is longer training battles, say like one or two wks. I played 3 training games and thought i was hanging (i had no idea they were even training battles). I think it was game 4 or 5 when i couldn't even fire my gun, dead in 3 shots. i swear if i pointed it at anything i was killed. i couldn't even understand what was going on. so I became a sniper, at least then i last longer than 20 secs before next death. seriously though, there should be more control for play to the newbie...options btw battles filled with 2 yr vets or 7 month vet. |

7 months players aren't vets ;) Then I agree with the fact that newbies are having a hard time, we all did, but I dont think it's a reason why they need to be put before vets. I've been playing for 1 and a half year, not capping everyday, with some months breaks, and I have now 30Mil sp. Trust me, these 2Mil sp are gonna be really useful for me, because no matter how much sp you have (even 60mil), you'll still need MORE! I'm looking forward to them some prof V or new proto suits ;)

not trying to put newbies ahead, that will never happen. vets are all max out on every skill with that much still in the bank. and i'm just repeating what i read by vets....like i said most made those types of statements.
as the game moves forward there has to be some changes for the old and new. i'm not trying to avoid the "newbie hard time", i just see a way to make it more enjoyable. i'm sick of being killed all the damn tiime. i'm that 1/12 dude, but my assists be like 14...y..because one on one i can't kill a fly. i'm not learning a thing and i'm going to the redline because for one i don't want to use up the clones from the real players (i still want to win). i'm not looking to be given anything...like i said..remove the cap and let me work for it. im trying to hang in there but honestly...i need to save my last nerve for my kids... |

I perfectly understand your situation but believe me, new players have already been putten ahead. 1 year ago, it was absolutely impossible for a mlt/std player to kill a proto suit. IMPOSSIBRU! Now basic rail rifle rocks even without prof at all^^ Then again I have many friends that have 60+Mil SP and, has I said, they are still looking for more suits, more passives, more prof or sidearms.. there are always things to unlock in dust. Even if it's less needed than at the beggining when you dont have anything, you'll always need more sp ;)
Edit: ho! and read what I said before! A 350k sp cap would be great for everybody!

I almost never used boosters that's why I only have 30mil (which is not so much for a open beta vet). Why this question? :) Of course people who have more than 50mil today bought a loooot of boosters ^^

Oh yes they are! When you only look at stats you feel like it's not gonna be a big change, but believe me it is! Then, the proto suit is not the only thing that'll make you stronger, you need passive skills. A lot of them will make any suit you'll use way better and usable to do good scores :)

I would prefer something along these lines...
Removing the weekly cap for players with less than 15 million SP. Increasing the passive SP gains for players with less than 15 million SP.
How do you kill that which has no life?

Boosters are the best things you can spend Aurum on. If you like this game and intend on playing it for a while then they are definitely worth it.
