Mainly talking to lower SP players, i have 17.1mil SP. Im not asking fr refund just hypothetically. When i first started playing i was confused, as to be expected. Wanted that suit that guy had that gun that guy had. I was semfocused, wanted to be a scout/ninja with knives shotgun pistols all that good stuff. In every game i play always wanted to be a ninja, sneaking around in the shadows stealth takedowns all the epic stuff you see in movies. So the first thing i got was gallente scout. Read up all the info infgame about damps and all the weapons what would good on this suit etc. Not long after, i was just introduced to scout community had no idea about forums and stuff, with advice from scoutly bros, set my record, 20/11 basic gallente scout mlt shotgun 2 mlt damps mlt SMG etc. I think i started here at the end of chrome.
So yeah personal ive always loved the ninja fragile speedster type characters so that had tremendous influence on my current playstyle.
About the SP all im saying is i wish i had spend my SP smarter cause now im paying for it lol.
What helped you choose your playstyle? Please keep in semi dust related cause i dont want it moved to locker room.

I was always that one blue who flanked around the whole match just to get an epic streak going, but also loved sniping, so I went for a light frame, and a sniper because I felt it would've been fair that if I was spotted as a sniper, I deserved to be killed.
I skilled into Gallente Scout because that was my starter race and once I got an adv scout, i started skilling into the Shotgun because I once saw a dude get an epic KDR with it and killing me various times.
I also saw a Starter Medic with Knives go crazy once and killing half my team, so I went for that as well later on.
Thank you, guys! I discovered what truly makes me have the most fun thanks to you guys dominating my team o7 |

I've always been a jack of all trades kind of guy in the games that allowed it; I like the flexibility of being a swiss army knife. But what helps me choose my playstyle is the map we're on and what's happening at the moment. Urban focused map, Scout if the enemy is more spread out and Sentinel if they're grouped up. Rural focused map Scout or Assault, whichever tickles my fancy usually; unless the enemy is grouped up inside a building that needs clearing then of course it's the heavy.
If the enemy get up somewhere that can't be reached, I either snipe them if they have forgers or use my python if they don't.

Playing Recon in Battlefield, Assassin's Creed, Crysis 3, and the gallente scout starter fit from back when I started really got me into sniping then into scouts. I loved running deep behind enemy lines and putting them down one by one, and them never suspecting a thing.
Why use one scout suit and be good at one thing when you can be a #Omniscout.

When I first started playing, I just looked at all the weapons first. Just me trying to figure out what all these weapons were about. My first battle was me just hanging back with a sniper rifle, in an abmush, on line harvest. I got 2 kills. I probably chose this because I was almost exclusively a sniper in MAG.
The very first thing I ever specced into was the standard Scrambler Pistol, because it reminded me of my Golden Schofield Revolver on Red Dead Redemption, and because I almost exclusively used revolvers/pistols in RDR. I liked it, but back then, you needed an AR to compete, so I eventually had to pick up an AR. But in the end, I just like pistols more than rifles. They just feel so much better, you know?
After about a month or so, I went fully into HAVs, and because this was Chromosome, HAVs were balanced, fun, and insanely expensive.
Since Uprising, I've done everything Amarr. ScR, ScP, LR, Amassault, Amlogi, Amscout, ect...
Then I biomassed about a month ago. Noragrets.
The ONLY thing that could possibly make me regret biomassing is if they unnerfed the Scrambler Pistol. |

I have always played a gamestyle focused on stealth and flanking.
Dust just enables me to do that on a completely different level, which isn't found much on traditional FPS games.

When I started I wanted a 'brawler' fit, fast, tanked and in your face with a shotgun, basically a Mass Effect Vanguard. At the time this was not possible, shotguns had no hit detection, scouts got like 300 eHP max.
So Biomassed and tried again with 'Monkey MAC' the alpha clone was 'Monkey Mac' but I didn't know how to finalise the biomass.
It was then I found the Mass Driver, a mother fudging grenade launcher, from that day forth it became precious and it would be my precious. 5 months later Uprising 1.1 was released and it was glorious!
They call me the Monkey - I like to jump off sh** and piss RE's all over your tank!

I wanted a cool, somewhat slim-looking suit because I really like Samus Aran and Sheik. So I skilled into Caldari medium (because I have some issues with the Gallente Scout head) and then later on the Caldari light frame because
well, I'm sorry to say, but it's true. Scouts are better in almost every category than a medium. even with the medium hp buff. sorry, sorry.
Then I use a magsec as my main because I think it's a cute gun. Knives because I refuse to believe only Minjas can use knives. and Nanohives and k-2 injectors to play support, because I'm usually player 2 when playing with my sister or cousins. we do a lot of co-op. Also, I don't like being at the center of attention (especially in a firefight).

Alright, Race: Caldari. Role: Scout.
Where the **** is the skill book for that? Well, ****. Guess assault will work. Cal Assault with ScR, tore **** up abaout as often as i killed myself. Decided to try out the RR the week before they were nerfed just to see why.

My past gaming experience has an effect on how I already know how to shoot, move, read my radar, avoid choke points and open spaces, lead with grenades, etc. Not so much on the role front, I started as an assault back in closed beta cuz....4 choices. I picked up a heavy just before the racial suits came out because I wanted something that wasnt logi or assault. And now I run assault again mostly unless somebody pisses me off then I pull out whichever FOTM I need to get the job done.

My gaming experience has been steered by just being a killer, i try my hardest and i'll admit that (whats the point in playing a game if your not going to try) i have played many fps' and been a beast on most i'll list my highest kills on them;
Dust 514 - 81 kills 3 deaths (done this twice now :)) BF3 - 93 kills 2 deaths COD - 71 kills 7 deaths Destiny - 46 kills 6 deaths
as yo can see my main aim of any game is to be quick but sneaky at the same time, but also at the same time be a tank just incase i have to fight 3 or more people. I used to be a tank on this game like i had max vehicle skills. I had my 'Vayu' which was nicknamed 'SAXON's BEAST' and it lived up to its name, it survived 27 matches in a row. I got my highest kill death with this tank which was 55/0 but after 1.7 everything changed i specced out of tanks and put it all into dropsuit upgrades. I got myself a GK.o logi with a pro rail rifle and got 20,000kills in the first month out of my tank. I was no.1 on weekly/monthly leaderboards, i was pleased that i was actually getting recognised as a good player :) Then i skilled out of the Gk.0 into a scout CK.0 and my new highest kdr was 62/0. I Climbed the leaderboards i got to no.4 and then gave up cos of tank spammers, they were just getting too many kills by tank stomping amb it was unfair but ahwell 4th will do for me :)
Thanks saxonmish :)

I would say yes it does. For me it seems i always play the same rough type of character even in AD&D and i only vary from it a little. Typically i play the meat shield. The character that might not put out the best dps but the character that can stand toe to toe with others and punish or distract them until the team can take them out. Right now i am doing a creaive take on this in a AD&D game and playing a elf monk build and using as many feats as i can to increase my AC while wearing only leather armor (once i hit lvl 5 probably will switch to no actual armor) so far its working well and the toon is a dexterous annoying little bugger. Hopefully my GM will allow me to take vow of poverty :) In dust i normally play a sentinel. I have multiple sentinel fittings for different purposes. Sometimes i play my militia grade logi. This is when i am poor and farming wp's to earn some good isk. I use a dirty needle and rep tool because it earns far more wp's than just a proto needle and costs SO much less. |
