The enhanced ones are sort of acceptable, but still very steep. They should definitely be brought in line with other modules of their tier. |

Kincats are one of the mods I don't mind using at std level.
It could just be psychological, but I think I feel a difference.

If your main goal isn't large speed, STD Kincats can be quite useful. They can give just enough of an edge to get round that corner before you die. On a few of my Logi fits I use a STD to offset the movement penalty of my plates, a godsend in games with a constantly changing front line.
Depending on playstyle though, a Cardiac may be the better choice for some. |

My guess is that the high cost is to reduce the issues of speed breaking the game.
Also, at one point hit detection was much more significant an issue, and speed would play a part in that. In typical CCP fashion at the time, their solution was to nerf speed instead of flat out fix hit detection (for other examples of such nonsense, see stun lock).

Complex isn't even an option. Before that it was a stamina mod. It was a difficult choice, being able to run obscene distances is fun.

It would not be bad, but would you fit a module which give you a slight advantage when you can fit something else that is more useful? Imo even a basic ferroscale or reactive is better than a std kincat. I would give a second bonus just like regulators, maybe even a little walking speed bonus which does not raise too much with tiers something like 3/4/4% (random numbers).

We discussed something like this once, but found that the base walking speed is like the crux of everything, and that small change would affect everything else, including sprint speed, jump speed, and what was considered the most game breaking, strafe speed.
I also knife a lot, so sometimes that minor difference in sprint speed means a lot for me.

it's because a basic kin cat is 10 pg while a complex is 15.
No other basic module has rediculous pg costs like that. The only thing that comes close (but that isn't a module) is the mlt uplink and standard scanner

Dude the standard one saved me a couple of times on my (pro) logi fits. Just that extra speed to get behind cover. |

Yeah, i agree the kincats are a bit steep. STD and ADV are just enough to give you that extra speed to either offset any movement penalties are that extra oomph to get to the fight or around the corner. Those complexes do take a lot but of course, we don't want any stackers to speed stack so much it breaks the game. Maybe 2 or 3 pg reduction is ok but i think if you are thinking about fitting complex kincats then you are going to have to make sacrifices for that speed if its worth that much too you. In the end, you have to make sacrifices, you simply can't have your cake and eat it too.
I myself have discovered the uniqueness of fitting cardio upgrades and they are FREAKING FANTASTIC on ADV and PRO Min assaults. You can SPRINT FOR DAAYYYZZZ! I can fix a complex kincat and complex cardio on PRO with max cores with somewhat reduced tank but its only a starting concept. I find that i can't have a ferroscale and armor rep without sacrificing my regulator...I NEEDS THAT SHIELD REGULATOR.

Cut KC PG to 4-7-10. No longer any reason whatsoever for their PG cost to be so astronomical!
Reality is the original Rorschach.
Verily! So much for all that.
