CCP Rattati and Logibro,
Some direct competition to Dust 514 is coming out in a week. NOW would be the time to tell us more about Legion. You are not going to win the hype-war, but you can reassure your current playerbase that Legion is still relevant and moving forward. If you can't get screenshots or developer interviews then start posting more actively in the Legion General Discussion again.
Also... is CCP Rouge still with you? We haven't heard much* from him since his damage control posts post-fanfest.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it "doom". Dust 514 is F2P which means it would have to be burned, shot, stabbed, staked through the heart, beheaded, then dissolved in acid to truly put it down... but let us be real here: Destiny will shrink our playerbase when it comes out. I don't want that and neither does CCP.

And just a quick review of the OP...

I did not say that Destiny was going to kill Dust 514. In fact, I know it won't. Destiny isn't F2P and Dust is. That simple fact alone means that Dust will be alive for a long time yet.
If CCP thinks Destiny isn't going to pull some of their paying customers away then they are truly inept. Every $60 USD spent on Destiny is $60 not spent on Dust 514.

Tardthe GrumpyCat wrote:Direct competition? You mean a game you need to buy a new system for for it to be fancy and pretty? Something that only has 22 missions, a squad of 3, and "events" where you find other people to kill things with for 5-10 minutes?
I'd rather play Diablo 3.
Regardless of if you personally consider it direct competition or not, the gaming "general audience" will.

On a positive note, hotfix Delta should reduce the amount of ISK a merc starts with to 25,000. That should cut down on biomass-ISK farming. Now... why wasn't that done around 1.0 when players were first reporting it?

And we can probably thank Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie for that. The hotfixes have been great and I know a few players who have returned to Dust 514 recently when ((insert their preferred weapon or dropsuit here)) got some love. CCP Rattati and Logbro, in the extremely unlikely event that you visit this thread: thank you for these hotfixes.

MINA Longstrike wrote:Destiny is primarily a PVE game. It has PVP yes (and I've seen the videos... it's pvp has some okay things about it, but it already has a laundry list of complaints). It will be a big game, but that's got a lot to do with the Halo draw. Honestly I think you're trying to compare apples to dragons here.
PvE is a feature that Dust 514 cannot boast. Even if Destiny's PvP isn't solid, having PvE and PvP is better than only having PvP.
"Apples to dragons" is a new one. I prefer apples to hand grenades myself.

I am going to go on the record: waiting to announce more Legion information until fanfest 2015 is a horrible idea. I'm pleading with you here CCP, start talking about Legion before December 2014 please.

Like really most of that is outright wrong.
Anyway Soya has a point but the failed Dust 514 killers also sucked massively. For real, it has been a bad year for AAA games. However, Destiny does not suck and its competing on Dust 514 for PS3 where it looks better runs better and has a lot of content in it.
Sadly this one will hurt, during beta my friends list that is mostly players where all playing destiny the whole weekend that's 30 something of the dust players dropped it in mere moments for 10% of Destiny's gameplay.
Egro the devs need something solid soon or this project is over.

Well it would be RP realistic to keep slaves as an Amarr merc. Gallente could have drones. Caldari will have wageslave assistants. Minmatar will have... what is a good pet that feeds off of rust and failure?

Dust 514 is already F2P. I don't understand your argument here. CCP is attempting to tap into the large population of FPS gamers' wallets. To do that they will have to accept they are not the biggest fish in this pond. Eve Online has a pretty niche audience so they can afford to be picky there. Not here in MMOFPS-land.
Apothecary Za'ki wrote:Now if you still feel the way you do please forward all your isk to me and uninstall dust and do not post on the forums again unless its an "IM BACK" topic outlining how wrong you were about said game you left dust to play and get bored of very quickly.
Where in my entire post did I say I was quitting? You won't get a single ISK from me and I will post on these forums however many times I like so long as I don't get banned again.
P.S. - The TL;DR of my post was: We haven't heard anything about Legion in a while. CCP, are you still working on it? Destiny could draw some players away. Oh, btw, where is CCP Rogue?
Why would you argue with a post like that?! Are you against them talking about Legion with us? Do you not care when CCP employees promise to talk to us then vanish?

Meanwhile Dust 514 if you been noticing has been cranking the gears up; I wonder how fast we can get this going. Time will tell.
Cranking the gears up? Well, the hotfixes have been amazing, but I'm not completely in love with CCP or anything. There seems to be more chatter regarding a possible client update soon(TM). That's pretty interesting.
