I think it is time we take a look at equipment spam. Especially the amount of Uplinks that can be deployed in one area. Not only it is a very noobish strategy, but it also makes the game lag. BUt as long as that Logi is getting WP they really won't care.
Every Skirmish and Domination now consists of "who ever spam the objective with more Uplink's wins"
Long are the days were placing an Uplink at a very hidden but strategic area meant the difference between the battles.
And now Uplinks are being able to be deployed in rather unbelievable places to reach. If I had a capture card, I would make a video on it.
But I can only point them out: Border Gulch: Right at 9E where the Tower is.
Gallente Research Facility: Normally were A is in Domination and B in Skirmish. You can place a bunch of Uplinks around the top corners of the silo the objective is located in. I think it is rather BS and that Uplinks and any other type of deployable equipment should pop when deployed there.
Orbital Artillery: Basically here, the huge tower, and the little reactor thingies that are near the Objective A in Domination. When equipment get placed on top of the reactor thingies (I really don't know how they are called) they should pop.
And we all know the towers of Line Harvest
Now this are some unfair locations and advantaged where you can place Uplinks and have them almost untouched.
"Oh, but you can always call a dropship and destroy the uplinks yourself" We all now that most rooftop campers and rooftop spawn areas are always being watched by 1 or 2 Forgers + Swarmers. so getting up there to destroy the uplinks becomes a hindrance rather than helping out your team. While this itself is a good strategy, it is also unfair that some (if not most) of this rooftop areas also provide an over look to the ground below. Making place for Forgers and Snipers to get easy kills. Again, calling in a drophip is a waste of ISK (and if you are short on ISK don't risk it) because the forger will always spot you.
You can always counter snipe but they can just waddle away and dissapear from your sights.
But the real issue for me is the never ending equipment spam. Not only is it a cheap tactic to get WP but it also lowers the frame rate of the match you are in. Many ways to counter the spam have been given but any present flaws.
The only real solution to this would be for the equipment to disappear when you change suits a supply depot. But of course the WP whores will cry and say that is unfair while they sit in a spot gaining never ending 25+ Warpoints per each Uplink they have out.
Restricting equipment to suit it was fitted seems the most logical way to fix the equipment spam. You want to lay out a bunch of Uplinks to help your team spawn? Well use all your equipment slots to fit the Uplinks, but do know that you will be very weak.
TL;DR: Upinks and other deployable equipment spam are causing frame rate issues to the game, yet people keep doing it because easy and risk free WP
Uplinks can be placed at very unreachable and questionable places. They should insta pop in those places rather than staying there
Only way to fix equipment spam is to restrict the equipment to the suit rather than the clone. That way the spam will die out and Uplinks will start to be placed more strategically again.
I will keep bumping this thread until I see a dev response on how they would address the issue of equipment spam and placing equipment on questionable places.

CPM 1 (and previously 0) has already discussed the issue at great lengths and we are considering various solutions to the problems; some of which are exciting some of which cannot be realized within dust 514.
We are also looking at the problem in its entirety; the items, the players, the skills, the behaviors that go into.
One solution brought up would turn uplinks into a 'Spawn Grenade' of sorts.
If a current uplink allowed 10 spawns per deployable and 3 deployables available per stack with deploy limit of 1. Then... The uplink would turn into 1 spawn per deployable and 30 deployables available per stack with a deploy limit of 1.
Of course this would shift the bonus needs; spawn times, meta level progression and much more but after suggesting the idea the CPM 1 was enthusiastic believing that this solution was most optimal within Dust 514 itself.
Similarly this mentality can be easily applied to Nanohives but not to same extreme.
While I can list of all the expected changes in behaviors I am rather hoping to hear about feedback to this idea instead. Have at it. So one clone per uplink? I think this would generate a few troubles within the Uplinkers.
Personally I like the way they work now. But what I don't like is that you can change suits in the supply depot and keep throwing spawn uplinks. That's the issue that needs to be addressed.

What was I thinking? CCP should certainly drop everything and come up with a mechanic that stops people from playing their part in the game so that OP does not have to expend effort on taking a roof top from the enemy. roof tops are easy.. ADS or dropship+flux or even a F**K you orbital to remove the problem roof campers.. i sware the community is getting younger, lazier and more butthurt and whining and QQing like toddlers I've been here since Mordus Private trials. So I am not "new" or "young"
And from Mordus to Chromosome, such issue was never presented. Since almost nobody ran with uplinks back then. And the ones that did, well they got placed in a strategic spot. NOt just a huge cluster of them in one small area.
The issue with rooftop campers/spawners, is that they always have a few merc sniping and 1-2 forge gunners. So really getting a dropship to fly up there is a waste of ISK.
Now, the one I can forgive are the Towers at Line Harvest, since those are flat surfaces. But what about the Tower at Border Gulch? The places where you can leave a spawn uplink are unflattened, it offers a great view to the Objective in Domination and with one or 2 forgers up there, they have a secured spot. You can kill one with a sniper, but he will just spawn back, and with a more brinked suit.
Now if you want to fly up there and camp, be my guest. But being able to leave a uplink in such area must not be encouraged.
As of now, in Dust you can leave a Uplink anywhere in the game except on top of the MCC and Acid pools (Yet for some reason I spawned inside an acid pool)
And if the CPM has taken notice of this, then it is certainly an issue. Because uplink spam is an easy and risk free way to get a lot of WP over little time.

Because uplink spam is an easy and risk free way to get a lot of WP over little time. Trust me the CPM 1 is very aware of the issue and we're moving forward on a first possible solution available within current means and logistics. There are dozens and dozens of things wrong with the current links One of which we hate to see is that higher tier players are FORCED to NOT to get shot. If they die so does their bonus. Same logic applies to Cal logis as well with their hives. Any solution that would stop the massive spam of Nanohives and Uplinks in every game I play would suffice.
Getting tired and bored of the one sided matches (in both terms)
My proposal to tie the equipment to the suit is to stop this kind of tactic Example: Make 2-3 Logi fits with uplinks on all equipment slot
Spam all the uplinks in your logi suits in one area
Go to supply depot
Change to Heavy Frame or Sentinel and have a squad Logi behind you
Both laugh at the massive amounts of WP the both of you are earning over a small period of time.
And my proposal also makes the equipment placement much more tactical than it is now.
So, if you are a Logi, and you lef all your uplinks on one spot and want to change to a heavy suit to earn easy WP and mow down infantry just as easily as well, you can't. You either help your team providing various well placed spawn locations or go on a killing spree and do not offer your team spawn locations.
This game is supposed to be high risk, high rewards. But right now, Uplink spam is no better than redline thales campers.

But we are the ones that are wrong here and we need to "get gud" Every time I flux a lot of those spammed equipments, the guy typically just switches back at the supply depot and proceeds to re-spam them. It's really stupid and needs to be stopped. I'd be up for say maybe 5 nanohives and 5 uplinks per character. Not like the vehicle limit. At least that way one ahole logi can't just spam every single type of each in a small area. Exactly!
You can always flux the area. Then you will get overrun because the enemy will know you are there. Then they proceed to dump more spawn uplinks in the same area.
There is really not an end to the uplink spam.

I have remade all my suits, I use to only drop 3 links per area to present some of the tactical advantages that I stated earlier but I will not rest until there are 15 pieces of equipment in any area that i feel like putting it.
NON-scrubs who know how flux grenades work you are welcome in advance. Then I don't know what game your were playing. But I always get frame drops whenever I come near an Uplink hive.
I don't lag. I get frame drops.
And like it was said. You could always flux the area, but that won't stop the Logi's to placing all the uplinks again.

Sure this is a great idea. Now 4 out of the 16 man team can drop equipment and hide in the corner so that the rest of the team can spawn or have ammo. Your forward thinking stretches beyond measure. If they are logi's, they weren't to be in the frontlines at all.

Spamming uplinks is hardly a scrub tactic, it presents a tactical advantage in the form of having an area more protected from being over run. I would be glad to Q up against you and you put down one link and I will put down 20 and see which team holds the area.
How is having an entire area with 10-15 or even more uplinks a tactical advantage? Well it is tactical, but scrubby. It's amazing how far people will go to defend their crutch. In this case, a WP crutch. Uplinks should be used for tactical placements. No spam them all in one area and screw up the match's frame rate.

Give the option of having it only active when selected, or just active all the time where the player is. The thought of chosing when to use them seems better though.
CPM's idea of 1 spawn per uplink (grenade) sounds like you'll just have more people spamming areas with them.
Failing that, having a max amount per player could get the job done, rather than max amount per type... Lets face it the spam is usually 1 or 2 players with all the loyalty varients throwing everything they have around a supply depo.
Rooftops are fine apart from the bugs, which having the uplink/hive on the player would solve. Uplinks on player would actually solve the problem and would make the game more interesting imo. If this happens, and special tacnet indicator would need to be created. Tho, believe me or not, I have seen uplinks glitched into mercs

Heres a much BETTER solution........
Make everyone use their own links. Only the deployer can spawn on them. Problem solved! Better yet, Just shut the game down! The problem here is that one guy can leave an entire arsenal of uplinks just by changing suits on the supply depot. Which results into the uplink spam we see nowadays.
We also got uplinks in some questionable places and also uplinks in places that can't be destroyed because glitches.
Mix all that up and you have the "Whoever spam uplinks near the objectives wins first" type of gameplay we have now.

Things are rather balnced for Dust in my eyes atm. Yeah the Burst HMG shreds and the RR owns both at long and close ranges. But all that is easily fixable.
Plus the uplink spam has been going on way before RRs and CRs were introduced to Dust.

This is an invalid argument for nerfing and makes me question your objectivity on a topic regardless of whether you are correct or I agree with you. Just because its something a beginner can pull off does not make invalid or in need of nerfing. By that logic shooting should be less powerful than hitting people in melee. Shooting is so easy a noob can do it. Now if a tactic or technique is overpowering and exploitable so that it cannot be countered then I start taking your arguments seriously. If it is counterable I'll be sure to helpfully inform you. But in my opinion high ground shooting is counterable. Its just difficult. Well, Uplink spam is very exploitable. You can counter it, but your efforts will be in vain because they can easily kill you and drop all the Uplinks again.
I have been in matches where the objective could barely be seen from the map because of all the uplinks placed within the small area.
And this tactic is also not only very exploitable, but any Logi can throw down 5 uplinks and Farm warpoints the easy way. And we have seen this not only inside battle, but also inside the redline.
I have had matches were a Logi sits in the redline with about 3-4 uplinks around the area. When it comes to the end of the match, he is topping 3rd or 2nd on the leaderboards.
I am not asking for Uplinks to be nerfed. I only want the spam to stop. Because right now, all matches consist off getting to that certain point in the map first and dropping as many Uplinks as you can drop.
And I am pretty sure that wasn't CCP's vision for those things.

..and uplinks/nanohive could act like flux grenade when it is depleted, I think it would prevent spamming it in one place if only FF would be off on equipment. Yeah, more ladders would do the trick.
Im getting a little annoyed of flying to those high hive places where you can only reach up with a dropship. Only for it to get shot down by forge guns and swarms defending the hive.
Then those people go and say "That's what dropships are for. Reaching high places"

Only problem I see is glitched equipment..
otherwise logistics is a important role that needs more attention in the new player experience. Not telling to nerf logistics role.
I just want the spam of uplinks to stop. And for battles to be between who has the best team rather than who spams the uplinks around the objective first wins.
