I don't expect anyone to take my word for it. Instead, contact the CPM members on these forums and request more communication from CCP. I rather let CCP share that information to be honest. Thats because you'll be fired. psst... IWS is in the CPM, not a paid employee. Just means he's a fool working for free. He can still get fired. Remember Nova Knife?
This is true I can get fired.

So, finally some mention of PL from CCP. It seems PL is still waiting for the green light. Maybe we'll get the answer by next fanfest. Maybe.
IMHO, considering the way CCP announced PL last fanfest, this is taking too long. You don't announce a game, knowing that it will infuriate a good portion of your current customers, and then wait for a year to decide whether the announcement was for real or just a (bad) joke.

I donGÇÖt think the guys that made the decision on how to announce Legion had any idea that the DUST community would react like that. Rouge knew, but they did not listen to him. The guys at CCP head office had been listening to EVE players complain for years that DUST should be on PC, so they probably expected everyone to be thrilled. #outoftouch
I do expect we will hear a lot more about Legion at the next Fan Fest. I was hoping for something at EVE Vegas, but I am not holding my breath.

They were forced to announce it at FanFest because people would figure it out anyway since there would be no information or further development on DUST.
Ideally they wouldn't want to announce it this soon, but it was neccessary in this situation.

The 1.9 update also kinda makes me wonder about a few things? This seems like a cool update but how much of the team worked on this? Are they still focused on Dust 514? How many people are working on Legion? Are they working on Legion at all?

How many people are working on Legion? Are they working on Legion at all? The biggest thing in 1.9 is the new maps, but those maps were pulled from a previous patch at the last minute because they were not quite done, then shelved when they shifted to working on Legion, so they must have been almost done. Taking them off the shelf and finishing them off would not have taken an immense amount of Dev time, and is a lot of bang for the buck.
Which is to say, most of the Dev time is still focused on Legion, but DUST may be able to borrow some Dev time if it continues to do well and there is something that is worth doing.

My thoughts exactly. I have heard about these "new maps" before especially on the new outpost like the Caldari Production Facility.

Ya I see what you mean, bringing maps that were shelved might not have cost too much time or amount of devs but what about being able to sell salvage to NPC vendors?

Yes, that probably required a bit of Dev time, since it would require some interface changes, but I expect they kept it simple. Keep in mind though that Faction Warfare was designed around the premise that we would be able to sell Salvage on the open market. Without that, FW produced no ISK. So a way to sell Salvage was one of their highest priority items that needed to be added to DUST. Again, it was a really big Bang for the Buck.
So, yes, they did redirect some Dev time from Legion to work on DUST, but only on the stuff that would have the most positive impact for the least amount of effort.
Rattati probably has to have a clear plan and a really strong business case to get approval to take a Dev off of Legion.
I would not worry about Legion development because of the 1.9 changes. The 1.9 stuff is only taking a small fraction of the DevGÇÖs time. And keeping DUST going strong helps make the case for Greenlighting Legion, as well as helping to finance it.

It makes me think...the whole reason why they are working on 1.9 that is...
Does it mean that they feel confident enough with Legion and are ahead of themselves in development enough to give these improvements in Dust?

No seems more like testing for Legion, not to just get people to keep playing Dust. Which is a good idea.

Doesn't look like much has changed since I have been away. But, it doesn't matter much. I hope CCP is actually building Legion. I hope it doesn't turn into another 8 year project and end up like World of Darkness. However, moving on is what I have done. I have little faith in CCP at this point due to past digressions. If Legion becomes a reality I will give it a chance. I will not expect the world or expect anything beyond what I am familiar with from CCP. Then maybe...just maybe....I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Just a Note: After playing many games..including Destiny I know now how much better of a game Dust 514 really is. It lacks a lot of things, but it still is a lot more in depth then any other FPS I have played to date. Where CCP failed with Dust I hope they succeed with Legion. The IP is worth the time.
