George Moros wrote:This complete lack of communication from CCP regarding Project Legion sends a very disturbing message.
Half of the active threads here are on this subject, and still none of the devs responded even with a simple "I'm still here". At first, this could have been explained by vacation period, but as more and more time passes by one can't help but wonder... What the heck is happening with Legion CCP?
Since I suspect that devs aren't playing this "silenzio stampa" game on their own volition, the most likely explanation is that they were told by the management to keep quiet. But why is it so? Considering everything that's been happening with DUST and CCP recently, I'm afraid that the answer to this question is more likely bad than good.
However, whatever may be the cause of this silence, it is still an insult to the loyal fans of this game (since I suspect they are the only ones who still linger here).
Let me tell you something I repeatedly said before.
I want CCP to be quiet for once. Every time they posted a blog it was mostly something about what we already knew through various discussions with them in the past. Every time they promised anything, much of those promises were never delivered. And every time they hyped anything... well... you can take a wild ass guess what I'm about to say about that.
Therefore, I don't take this silence as an insult at all. If anything, I'm glad they kept quiet for this long because it's a sign (to me at least) that just maybe their finally learning their lesson when it comes to promises, hype, and managing the expectations of the fan base.
You can call it an insult for all I care. In the end, you know I'm right about what happened when CCP promised anything they couldn't deliver on.

EDIT: To quote CCP: "let's see what they do, not what they say."
I wasn't expecting hype nor (empty) promises. On the contrary. But you certainly remember what Legion forums looked like soon after Legion was announced. Devs were posting left and right, clarifying things, presenting ideas, requesting community feedback etc. Now, that looked to me like progress, and definite evidence that Legion is under development. However, this is not what we're seeing now. Legion forums are dead as far as devs are concerned. Of course, it is possible that Legion is currently in the stage of development where community feedback is not required, therefore devs are quiet. I certainly hope so. However, this still doesn't explain the fact that nobody form CCP is posting anything about Legion. Not even a "we're working on Legion, when we have something, we'll let you know". Even that would suffice. That type of silence is the silence I find disturbing.
It still doesn't bother me the least. When you've known CCP for as long as I have, you'll understand why I enjoy the silence.

Managers think assets and rigging and everything else can be done overnight. Thier leads tell them it's unrealistic expectations to have the timelines they've set out. Managers don't care.
So, from what I can see is this; Valkerie is behind. It's so behind that it won't launch with the Rift/Morpheus. Sony and Facebook are big clients and this is CCPs second chance with the biggest provider for next gen gaming and VR headsets. They are moving all resources besides EVE to finish Valkerie.
Hence the quiet. No ones here, and Legion is on hiatus. Got to agree if i was ccp i would ditch legion and instead focuse on my money maker but i would least tell my communty whats up. Ccp is a dino these days i dont think they ha e whst it take anymore, elitle and star cit are also going to start eatting into there once safe marker
Blizzard is just as much of a dinosaur yet they're still around. The reason Blizzard is still around is because they didn't commit the grave mistake of just sticking to one game. They diversified their portfolio so that when one game starts to age, the others pick up the slack. It's absolutely foolish these days for a successful company to just focus on one game and nothing more for the rest of their lives. CCP is a successful company and if they need to keep up with competition like Blizzard they need to expand.

i dont trust the word a CPM says as CCP could just bullshit to them, as well the CPM are just focuse testers they dont no anymore than we do, until i here offical news source the CPM are just white noise.
Let's just hope CCP learned their lesson this time for once. World of Darkness' cancellation (which cost them over $20 million in R&D funding) and the failure of Dust on the PS3 burned them big time after all. Let's also not ignore the fact that many Eve Online players today still give CCP a hard time over what happened with Incarna (Eve's expansion) back in 2011.

rather than it been a management fuckup for both games failing. have we acuttaly seen any indication CCP is ontop of things all we have is on video and few token posts iv not acutely seen anything that could count as progress

Well, according to this report, CCP is not underwater so far but it did receive a "severe thrashing" with the cancellation of WoD. If that doesn't force CCP to learn its lesson, I don't know what can. But yes, management screw ups on their part did play a big role.

Hell look at the rouge wedding, that was pulled off so crappily because they were trying to keep dust and legion migration hushed as they did not wan tto hype it, and then they gave no info on dust future. They messed up there, so i think they are taking a 'not say anything till its ready to be seen and set in stone' stance to prevent people having fits if, say, they go 'in legion you will invade eve space stations' then when they cut it later as a soon(tm) item people can;t **** and moan about it.
And if legion is quitely killed, no one can **** and moan about that either.
That may be true, but to see a cancellation on Legion at this stage will only add to the bad repertoire that CCP recently got with the cancellation of World of Darkness and the red wedding that occurred during Fanfest 2014. Let's also never forget about what happened with Eve Online's Incarna expansion and the monoclegate which started the Jita Riots that somehow caused CCP to lose enough subscriptions to be forced to lay off 20% of their staff back in 2011. It's all or nothing with Legion.

It's all or nothing with Legion. No, not nessicarily. You forget, EVE subs is what is paying for Dust/Legion. If CCP announced closing of legion and dust with full focus 100% on eve forever, you would see the eve forusm explode with cheers. Legion, to an EVE player is nothing, if it died they won;t care and CCP will go on fine without it. Don;t fool youself into thinking that legion will make or break ccp, cause it wouldn't. However, it would greatly damage there rep and there finances. But i highly, hightly doubt at this phase legion is dead. As i said a few times, Valk forums on eve or nearly dead with just very little trickle of info. Nothing new has been posted there since fan fest, no new info, no new anything. Legion forums here got more info then valk did. The only difference is, you can try valk because ccp wants to hype it up and its awesome. But as said, no news is not really bad or good. It just means they are working. I would rather they keep tight lips, and not spill something that has to be cut and disapoint, or over hype, then say stuff that either fails to deliver or gets changed. We will see in just over a month at vegas if we get new info. then there s still eve down under and fan fest.
That's not what I meant when I said "all or nothing with Legion". CCP clearly can do alright financially without Legion or Dust, but the reputation is what's at stake here. CCP always bragged about wanting to create the ultimate space simulation experience with Valkyrie, Legion, and Eve, but no one will take that seriously anymore if Legion were to get cancelled. If Legion gets cancelled than many people will expect the same for Valkyrie and if Valkyrie gets cancelled it won't look good to CCP's shareholders who are expecting returns from these investments and it sure as hell won't look good to the rest of the gaming community some of which are already viewing Eve Online like it's an aging dinosaur.

I don't expect anyone to take my word for it. Instead, contact the CPM members on these forums and request more communication from CCP. I rather let CCP share that information to be honest. Thats because you'll be fired.
psst... IWS is in the CPM, not a paid employee.

How many people are working on Legion? Are they working on Legion at all? The biggest thing in 1.9 is the new maps, but those maps were pulled from a previous patch at the last minute because they were not quite done, then shelved when they shifted to working on Legion, so they must have been almost done. Taking them off the shelf and finishing them off would not have taken an immense amount of Dev time, and is a lot of bang for the buck. Which is to say, most of the Dev time is still focused on Legion, but DUST may be able to borrow some Dev time if it continues to do well and there is something that is worth doing.
My thoughts exactly. I have heard about these "new maps" before especially on the new outpost like the Caldari Production Facility.
