As for feedback, I haven't experienced any hard crashes today, though I did have a rough match (frame dropping) when we got the bridge map with the Gallente Research Facility and the opposing team had an ADS. But beyond that, played 3 PCs, a couple of FWs and many pubs and no issues. Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

I had a hard freeze yesterday. To make clear what I mean, it froze on a frame in full colour with no error message (so quite different to a fatal error or regular DC). Only way to get out of it is to force-restart the PS3, which then takes ages checking for file errors (or something like that). This hadn't happened for six months or so for me. Hope it doesn't become recurrent as it is for OP, at one point I was getting so many of these and also fatal errors (which now seem fixed - thanks CCP) that I quit for a couple of months. I reinstalled numerous times back then, and didn't seem to help much, but guess it can't hurt to try. |

I heard that CCP has a hidden file that will crash the game if you have too much hentai saved to your PS3.

PS - only have two channels open. Doubt that's a factor, chat puts a massive extra strain on the netcode (part of why PC is such a clusterf*ck) but this seems more like a local (RAM or HDD?) issue. Just press circle at the error checking screen and you can skip it. |

We've been having an inordinate number of freezes since Charlie dropped. Happening in PCs and pubbing, but more the former than the latter as best as I can tell.
Personally, I hadn't had a hard freeze since probably last year but it happened twice in the last week.
I never have more than 2 extra channels. |

I really wish there was a way the system sent an error report to CCP about the game instead of just to Sony (who probably look at them and say "nothing wrong here" and toss them).

I used to have this problem often. The solution is a bit weird but works.
Delete any other saved file or game over 2 gigs in Size.
Not sure why, I could not isolate the issue, but if you have too many downloaded games too large in size, it will freeze up. Since doing this I have not had a single freeze in over a year. |

Could be, but the issue is widespread enough to suggest it's not hardware related.
Your assertion does beg the question: Do you have any ideas for how to test the integrity of the PS3 hard disk?
I'm no PS3 expert, and have no idea how to accomplish this, thus the question.... |

I had a hardfreeze a couple days ago, first one in awhile but I've definitely had a decent amount over the years.
I was in my Sentinel suit with BHMG, and it was the map where A is under groundish, but you can still orbital it through the open circle roof. anywho, I was rounding a doorway facing down a flight of stairs and as soon as I fired my first burst it instantly locked my ps3 up, lost comms immediately as well which was different, normally I still have comms but everything else locks up.

I'm no PS3 expert, and have no idea how to accomplish this, thus the question.... Yeah, there is a way to boot your PS3 into a Safe Mode of sorts... if you Google it, the method should come up pretty quickly, if you want to try it....
However, I know that it's a software error. Many people, including myself, have had this trouble (also, to note Arkena made a thread and seems to be having some trouble today as well). If this was a hardware error, the issue would be isolated and could possibly be narrowed down to a certain generation of hardware, that being a certain generation of PS3's, a certain batch of hard drives in the PS3's etc.
But what we are getting is a range and varieties of PS3 generations and ranges of different hard drives, including those that have bigger hard drives that they themselves have installed.
The error inlays with the software and the coding.

I haven't had any hard freezing in over a month now, but I cleaned my ps3's hard drive recently. Maybe try doing that? Only real issues I have is the typical graphic lag when jerks spam equipments in that one supply depot room. Causes the whole match to start stuttering. I wish CCP would give us a graphics option to turn nanohive and uplink effects off. I really don't care to see the pulsing blue lag bomb. |

The other thing I think it might be is RAM. The fact that so many people report this happening just as they're firing or even overheating burst HMGs makes me think this is more likely. Basically when there's so much going on on screen and in physics calculations (etc) there's too much to hold in RAM and the system crashes. There's typically a lot going on when your burst HMG overheats. I am FAR from an expert but for me it does always happen in high intensity moments, e.g. when ADSing at a group of enemies who are all firing back, or when changing direction rapidly in an LAV. The frozen frame always looks action packed, like a screenshot they'd give to IGN for publicity. Never had it when I'm just walking through a field on my own. |

That certainly describes what was happening to me last night. I was in one of the small city sockets, in a hallway near the point. Had just killed two guys and had two more in my sight when the game froze. A lot was going on at the time. Next time it happens I'll take a photo and post it.

If thats the case then it can happen pretty much any-anytime. Dust isn't a game where everyone just walks around peacefully. Don't see how that helps but I've to agree I freeze a lot less when in the merc quarters with everything minimized. Other then that since Charlie game's been freezing within 5 secs of logging onto merc quarters with the Daily SP screen still open. That's a complete new for me.
