As for feedback, I haven't experienced any hard crashes today, though I did have a rough match (frame dropping) when we got the bridge map with the Gallente Research Facility and the opposing team had an ADS. But beyond that, played 3 PCs, a couple of FWs and many pubs and no issues. Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

Ryme Intrinseca wrote:I had a hard freeze yesterday. To make clear what I mean, it froze on a frame in full colour with no error message (so quite different to a fatal error or regular DC). Only way to get out of it is to force-restart the PS3, which then takes ages checking for file errors (or something like that). This hadn't happened for six months or so for me. Hope it doesn't become recurrent as it is for OP, at one point I was getting so many of these and also fatal errors (which now seem fixed - thanks CCP) that I quit for a couple of months. I reinstalled numerous times back then, and didn't seem to help much, but guess it can't hurt to try.
PS - only have two channels open. Doubt that's a factor, chat puts a massive extra strain on the netcode (part of why PC is such a clusterf*ck) but this seems more like a local (RAM or HDD?) issue. Yep, that's what we are talking about.
I really wish there was a way the system sent an error report to CCP about the game instead of just to Sony (who probably look at them and say "nothing wrong here" and toss them).

Leadfoot10 wrote:Could be, but the issue is widespread enough to suggest it's not hardware related.
Your assertion does beg the question: Do you have any ideas for how to test the integrity of the PS3 hard disk?
I'm no PS3 expert, and have no idea how to accomplish this, thus the question.... Yeah, there is a way to boot your PS3 into a Safe Mode of sorts... if you Google it, the method should come up pretty quickly, if you want to try it....
However, I know that it's a software error. Many people, including myself, have had this trouble (also, to note Arkena made a thread and seems to be having some trouble today as well). If this was a hardware error, the issue would be isolated and could possibly be narrowed down to a certain generation of hardware, that being a certain generation of PS3's, a certain batch of hard drives in the PS3's etc.
But what we are getting is a range and varieties of PS3 generations and ranges of different hard drives, including those that have bigger hard drives that they themselves have installed.
The error inlays with the software and the coding.
