They have done a good job but it is just too late in the life of the console. Also having to go through sony for absolutely everything doesn't work well with MMOs, as they update constantly. WOW- hook, line and sinker. Face it you're a CCP groupie. CCP is a little under funded developer that sits in a country that was bankrupt in the early days of dust. You should reflect on SONY, and PSN distribution. CCP's screwed the pooch, early and often.
I disagree, I don't think it has to do with funding. I think it has to do with the experience of the programmesr, scope of their vision and the demands we place on them to deliver what we consider a AAA title. All of those and the lateness of the title hurt the game. If DUST had been released 3 or 4 years ago it would have done much better and had a bigger following. They waited too long to develop a game on a system that was difficult to code for and at the end of its productive life. Also, CCP promised more than they could deliver. I do believe that they could have accomplished most of what they wanted to do if they had had more experience with FPSs and the PS3 but their main flaw was the year, if the game had been release two years earlier we probably wouldn't be having this discussion.

FYI, this is OLD news! The US airforce bought thousands of the ORIGINAL ps3 systems. If you still have one, its worth a couple hundred. Sony "patched" the ps3 to make running "other" programs, next to impossible. HOWEVER, I still have the Ps3 master code..... |

i remember them saying that the PS3 could grow in processing power when networked because it could share it's load with the other PS3's it was networked with.. did this happen in the folding projects?

Yes, I know there are multiple PS3s computing together but no other game console can claim that they make scientific breakthroughs. Suck it to all of you who say the PS3 is junk, it is the programmers inability or inexperience that hinders the PS3. The hardware may be difficult and it may even be limited by the amount of RAM but it is a powerhouse none the less. SONY should have kept the cell processor and told developers to HTFU and get good. Give the PS4 the cell instead of an x86 and let it eat.
Not sure if you're trolling or are really just stupid enough to make posts about subjects you evidently don't understand.

My refering to financing was to point out that CCP without the PSN could not have afforded the distribution network needed to support a high profile game. Uncle Gabe will help CCP with Legion. Yet, what will the current gen supply over previous gen? Will it actually be more than "prettiness"? What about from ps2 to PS1? I don't recall much improvment other than graphics... Same could be said for most generations. idk if they pull off No Man's Sky that could be the first step in an actual breakthrough in coding
No mans sky looks freaken amazing and concept is just brilliant, hope they pull it off

I know. The entire point of my post has been that the cell is a step forward in affordable personal processing and if the code is optimized for cell processing then it is very efficient. Cells are the the in between, a stepping stone from x86 to GPUs. People get all torn up about it and want to bring in multicore systems in current PCs and yes they are very good but if a cell was to be produced to current standards it would be very powerful.

Sweet zombie Jesus I hope so. I was pulled into DUST because of the market, the idea of a persistent universe and that there would be so many maps on these different planets. The market never came, the universe idea is here and the maps never made it either. I love the idea of there being 19,715 barren planets and each planet could have anywhere from three to nine districts and that some of those planets had infrastructure that could be manipulated by the players who controlled the district.
67,000+ planets in k-space each with at least three districts, that is a titan full of maps*. I hope legion does better, I am not holding my breath but I like to stay optimistic.
*I was thinking that this number is for known space but it may include WH, I will have to look into it.

Very cool stuff. I had always joked about turning my PS3 into a bitcoin miner when I first started as a miner. It would be laughably worthless with the difficulty level.
