Its not firing a .50 cal slug. its firing either a steady beam or short bursts of light. so ya.... its weird how they treat it like its a plasma gun. E=mc^2 Just because it is light does not mean it is weightless, the amount of energy required to do damage with a pulse of light is immense, while I can only guess as to energy level you will see that the rounds have some rather high mass. Let's assume the energy required is 30,000,000 GJ for perspective you average breakfast bar has approximately 2586 KJ. So we now rearange the equation to make m the subject. M= E/C^2 We take the speed of light as 300,000,000 m/s (this has been rounded up slightly - which results in the light beam weighing less) and calculate the answer. M = 0.03 Kg The result is that round has a weight of about 3 grams, for perspective this about the same weight as an unfired NATO standard round (including casing, gunpowder) and that is why there is recoil.
If Large Railguns are only 80 GJ, and a ScR is using 30 million GJ, I request that the ScR does about 450 million damage per shot. The math adds up. And as a balancing factor, the ScR can much as much as a .22LR round fired from a rifle. Of course any dropsuit would easily be able to counter that kick, but whatevs. |

Turns out Monkey MAC is once again, too clever for his own good. Sigh... I meant to edit, not quote. |

The entire board goes will murder you! I like MACs idea. Give the ScR 450,000,000 damage per shot and practically 0 noticeable kick. Balanced! |

I want a semiautomatic spirit-bomb gun that consumes 3 grams of antimatter per shot. It could shoot EVE Players out of the sky! But it would be balanced by its kick of course! We don't want it to be OP or anything...
Nerf the ScR down to these levels plz. |

Thank you internet. I found a grains to grams conversion. So 3 grams would = 46.2970752 Grains which weighs nearly nothing. For comparison: The 50 BMG 12.7 +ù 99 NATO cartridge has a capacity of 290 grains H2O (19 ml). Do you understand antimatter annihilation? It converts matter and antimatter into pure energy at a 100% conversion rate. For comparison, nuclear bombs conver only a small percentage of the uranium they use into energy. 3 grams of antimatter would be enough to level a small city. And remember, all that energy is being focused into a stream of energy coming out the end of a gun. Basically, if the ScR used as much energy as Monkey MAC theorized it does, it would kick like an M4, but shoot a hole through the moon. |
