Rushing in just loses you very expensive suits and achieves very little. Using a high DPS burst or Tac Rifle to support your assaults from mid range while rep tanking any incoming fire and remaining AV adaptable should be your first priority.
I've always seen and play the Commando as the slow and steady brawler. You're not rushing in like an Assault would but you just keep going at a good steady pace, burning stuff down that gets in the way.
To the OP:
30/11 is, for one not that insane. Unless it's a total clusterfuck of a match, I typically die in my Standard commando maybe 1-3 times, and score a respectable KDR that varies based on the enemy team's performance. Now the Commando suits my playstyle VERY well, so I probably perform better than the average Commando user simply because its a good fit. That, and your account, as pretty anecdotal.
That being said, you need to balance a suit around the average player. And while I do see Commandos in games, you can see at the end of the match that they tend to *slightly* underperfom compared to other players, on average. As for what changes need to happen? My personal opinion is that the fitting is very very restrictive. It doesn't allow for much creativity and I think they could do to have an increase in slots (and an appropriate increase in resources to match).
I'd even go as far as to say as match their slot layouts to that of the Sentinel, in particular to make sure they're not matched too closely by medium suits which have significantly higher slot counts. Though the exact amount of appropriate increase is up for discussion. |

i would say that few new players try the commando as a main - its simply not worth the SP investment unless you have 2 suitable weapons unlocked for your choice of commando over a militia heavy frame with 1 weapon. for me to make it viable i have had to invest heavily to get the suit to 4 and put alot of points into both the CR and swarms.

The progression is kinda weird. You start with a Heavy Frame which uses a Heavy Weapon and a Sidearm, and then skill into a suit which uses neither.
I know I never really played with Commandos seriously until after I was done maxing out my Sentinel, at which point I said "Oh why not, I have all the support skills already leveled." |

i went mini scout - ASCR - then CR when released. Then i went mini scout + swarms + AV grenades + RE but got fed up with having to spend alot on an advanced suit with 300 EHP and a sidearm as defence form infantry. thought i would try the unfashionable commando as it did have one redeeming feature the 2 weapons which i had SP's into having a bonus to damage. also the low slot count ment less isk per fit =)
currently my basic fit is
1 complex damage mod, 1 enhanced armour rep, nanohive, CBR7 swarms and basic CR 21k
my advanced fit is
2 comlex damage mod, 1 enhanced armour rep, nanohive, wiyrkomi swarm launcher and basic CR at just under 54K
all run base EHP and the advanced fit comes out only if the enemy is going heavy on the veichle side |

The only good thing about commando are the 2 light weapon. They inherit all the cons from heavies: large hitbox, low speed, crap regen, even less slots, but they gain only a few HP on assaults. Even if you made a nice result (for kills not for deaths), it does not mean that the commando are balanced. You forgot about the blanket damage bonus for racial weapons... That's pretty huge. But I agree that just because someone can do well with a suit/weapon/mechanic doesn't mean that it isn't UP. I personally love the commando suits but scoreboards wouldn't prove they do or don't need a nerf/buff |

Hey ballsac. Commandos are glorious. Only mofos with two rifles. They are still fodder for snipers, tanks, hmgs, cloak shottys, and what have you, but they provide an alternative to being an assault or dancing scout or waddling chubby with a damn minigun. I will personally kill your clone with my ar and or rr. Scrub. Go hate on some other damn suit.
