You are here to represent the players not make money for CCP last i checked. What is stopping you from trying to achieve free respecs? I'm a player, I'm willing to spend money on DUST as I play it almost every day. The CPMs should represent me as much as they represent the freeloaders. As mentioned, respects are not a necessary elements in the game which makes them a great candidate for an Aurum bought item. They could probably cash in on making a Race/Bloodline respec as well. Now that is an interesting idea Haerr

Duke Noobiam wrote:Hi everyone...
What are your thoughts on allowing a respec for Aurum? I know most of the community would like this and I'm sure CCP would like the money it could generate, so why not?
The argument has been made that abusing a respec mechanism would make the game "pay to win". This could easily be countered via a SP percentage penalty (don't really like this option) or by making the respec so expensive that very few would have the means to exploit it.
So here is what I am proposing. Make a respec cost 50000 to 100000 Aurum ($25 to $50). That way, if someone is willing to pay a price equivalent to purchasing a new game they get a respec, they don't want to support the game (or can't afford to), no problem, just keep grinding.
Let me know what you all think, maybe a CPM can let us know if this is still being discussed at CCP. I am a long standing anti-respec guy. Anyone can check my posting history for the laundry list of reasons why I don't really care for respecs as a mechanic.
Having said that, an AUR respec is not really P2W. Respecs may dilute game play as far as I am concerned (not going to go into a long rant) but they aren't really an overpowering asset, especially in a more balance game environment which CCP R has been hammering out.
In addition since income is directly tied to development and support, while I personally have no real interest in seeing respecs in the game, there is some worthwhile value to be gained through offering such a convenience as a payed service because it gives a contingent of players something they desire and does so in a way that benefits the game as a whole (by funding its ongoing development).
On balance, despite my personal feelings about respecs as an individual player, I have to say as a community rep I'd support a pay to use respec proposal at this point in Dust.

^This, is almost the only type of respec I actually feel enthusiastic about supporting.
As I said prior, AUR respecs for general use I can get behind because they support the game and as such have a base value to all players even those who aren't using them, but I'm still not jumping for joy on that front, it does however get my nod where other respec ideas I am pretty intensely opposed to.
All of that being said the quoted text makes a good pont, one respec issued to new players upon reaching a given level of lifetime SP seems worthwhile and like a meaningful upgrade to the NPE without any major downsides.
