People often discuss kill/death ratio and some consider it to be a measure of success in Dust514. Others feel that some playstyles cannot break away from poor K/D ratios and hence, that they are not a valid measure of how good anyone is or how useful.
In Eve, the only thing that matters is ISK. A persistent world where everyone is immortal and all you have to lose is your time and isk. Dust is not any different from this.
I propose that Dust514 use "ISK Destroyed / ISK Earned" or D/E as an additional player stat. I'm thinking of Eve Online factional warfare or war decs where losing 10 T1 frigates in order to kill a battleship is a winning tactic. The side that loses more money loses the war, not the side that loses clones.
I realize Dust514 is at a point where it cannot receive any changes in mechanics or UI. However, please consider this idea seriously. |

I agree that different roles destroy isk more or less than others. But this is a whole lot better than kills and death. The idea does not directly counter poor ratios for pilots and pure logistics, however it does help considerably in the field of equipment tier. |

Honestly the more stats and ways to measure players that we have, the better (to a point).
ID/L (ISK destroyed/Isk Lost) is one metric, and would show the isk efficiency of players. Of course, the downside here is Logis get no love (since they rarely kill), and losing a few proto suits going 20-2 will have a much lower ratio than someone losing 20 militia suits going 2-20.
WP/death is another potential metric that doesn't screw logis. Of course, one could argue that this favors those who play less aggresively and therefore die less.
Kills/map, would show off how aggressive someone plays (A sniper might be able to have a 4-1 k/d ratio, but only the best can keep that and a high, say 20, k/map ratio).
WP/Map is a similar stat but would potentially give a little bit more love to the logis.
Also being able to break out such things as "Win % when unsquaded vs squaded" would help show who is bringing their team up vs whose squad is carrying them.
Just some ideas/

Show Isk destroyed average for every isk lost.
So if you habitually decimate tanks that cost 500,000 and you lose a 100k advanced proto fit in the process your ISK efficienvy rating would be 5/1. For every ISK you lose you destroy 5. |

how would this new metric account for suicide RE suits and BPO gear?

K/D we shouldn't have simply because it's to easy to blag your K/D. But say something like average warpoint gain per minute? Player rankings at the end of the match is dictated by players warpoints anyway so why not build on that?
Rather thank kills, WP gained from kills. Rather than Deaths total isk lost so far. Show us the warpoints people gained from triage or AV. Or total vehicle damage dealt, total vehicles destroyed ect.
If Preparation is half of the battle and knowing is the other half, Then there is no need to fight.

Warpoints are just as bad as KDR.
You can purposely farm them with equipment spam and the like.
Often times, it's vehicles destroying turrets and other vehicles.

I have to agree with this. It's why I think ISK is a much better metric, though not perfect. Having played Eve for a short time made me think this way.
The system does help logis a little bit because at least prototype equipment costs significantly less than prototype weapons. There's a huge difference there. A slayer using prototype gear is putting a lot more at risk and loses a lot more when he dies compared to a support. I realize it doesn't help a logisitics role in destroying isk, however.
Other support roles benefit greatly from this system, though. A sniper for example can help pick off expensive targets, and anti-vehicle users will get few kills but destroy large amounts of isk at a time, few and far between.
More then anything, I'd like to see people field advanced or even basic gear, even though they have more then enough isk to burn on prototype. |

This has been proposed dozens of times before, and I support the idea 100%. However, the only reply from CCP was that "they like the idea, and will implement it sometime in the future (not even Soon TM)". IMHO, this should have been in the game from day one. In a game like DUST, ISK efficiency is much more important than KDR.

Thanks for the reminder, I am currently doing some in-depth analysis on player stats and how to measure "quality" or "skill" of a player, for the matchmaking logic. I will keep you posted.

Hey Rattati, have you read dev blogs by other game companies when they talk about matchmaking? If so, which did you find especially insightful?

Inb4 Onesimus This is awesome news. I really hope it's possible to hotfix this in. I would love to see an ISK-efficiency stat be the first one on the leaderboards: ((ISK value of all suits/vehicles destroyed) - (ISK value of all suits/vehicles lost) ) / number of matches played = average ISK efficiency per match. For BPO's/AUR gear, just use the ISK value of their market-purchasable equivalent. Officer stuff is a bit trickier, maybe just treat that as double the ISK as it's PRO variant.
I think WPs per death is another useful metric for determining player "quality." As is using a WEIGHTED K/D metric: killing top players increases your "quality score" more than killing scrubs. Being killed by top players hurts your score less than being killed by scrubs.
Also, in the end-of-match screen, it'd be nice to show assists in the K/D for the team: K/D/A. I frequently use laser weapons, so I often end up with tons of assists and fewer kills (even if I did 90% of the damage). So if I go 6/4/12 it makes it more obvious to my squamates that I am actually contributing.
This is a bit of a tangent, but somewhat related. I would love to see assist WPs payout differently. It should be based on how much damage you did. So if I do 90% damage and a teammate finishes the guy off for the last 10%, then I should get 90% of the WPs and he should get 10% of the WPs plus credit for the kill on his stats.
Best PvE idea ever!

Support wp needs to be tacked separately from total wp.
Because look, a tanker is getting massive amounts of wp with few kills and can end up looking like a logi or a great support character but in reality isn't.
Just subtracting "kill wp" from the total wp and then using that new total doesn't account for all of the assists and destructions...it's hard to actually get a good ratio with the current stats we have.
But I can guarantee you that any logi will say that a "support wp/death" ratio would be awesome to have on the end of match screen...or even simply the amount of support wp generated during the match compared to total wp.
