No good sir, you are trying to incite it.
"i'm here to inform you" Arrogant and presumptuous- I have been sniping on this game for over a year, since 1.1 in fact. i always support my team and average out with around 20 kills per round but peak much higher, up until the nerfs that came along in 1.8 i could regularly be found in p.c battles. I have taken sniper rifles up against other corps in their best gear and seen exactly how ineffective they are now. Have used my commando in maps with my sniper as a secondary weapon and know how well it performs both compared to other rifles at mid-long range and compared to it's long range performance. I have shot down ads, blown up lavs and back when av grenades were good, blown up havs all using my sniper rifle.
Symbioticforks has been doing it for longer then i have, won the officer gear competition with 3375 kills in a single weekend with a charge rifle, releases regular videos on his sniping techniques and would have also done all of the above.
Nitrobeacon came in second with over 3000 kills, jacesilencer, leanna boghin, attim et al have all been sniping for some time. ok so the new scope is better than the old one for using the sniper rifles as a marksman rifle you clearly think that is news. so are the rail rifle the laser rifle and the scrambler rifle.
exactly what makes you think we need you to "inform" us?
"Try it, and carry a sidearm if leaving the redline scares you." Again an uneducated, biased, resentful statement. you don't know me, obviously haven't watched symbiotics videos and clearly don't have that much interaction with good snipers if you are spouting bs like "all snipers are cowards" this belief that All snipers are only ever in the red line is pathetic. as is the opinion that it takes some form of bravery to to run into close quarters combat IN A GAME!! it's not like you lose anything or that you are in physical danger is it?
you think that we are afraid to leave the red line lol, ok then i fully expect that you then must be one of the rare folks that play on dust using a ds3 and have aim assist off? (yeah sure you do.)

But if we're talking about presumptuous, that would be you. Generalizing snipers was not my intention. My post was directed towards the snipers that sit in the redline to kill with safety rather than actually help. So, not you. I've seen you wreck with that Charge. Either way, yes, I am here to inform. There are many who are lesser snipers.
Just saying, you don't have to go in every sniper thread and rant. It's not always directed at you.
Finally, question: I don't know the community's opinion on it, but yes, I use a DS3 without aim assist. Is that a bad thing? If so, I don't see a problem with it.
oh.. erm.. bad day for not taking things literally with sniping, alot of anti sniper stuff today.
anyway..
no there isn't realistically anything wrong with using the aim assist although some will say other wise but it's there due to kb/m balance, but as it doesn't affect sniper rifles, (and even if it did players who enjoy sniping or are good at it would still opt for self aiming) it means that when people say to come into closer ranges they expect: the sniper to use a weapon with no hip fire reticule, a low dps profile, which requires them to crouch down and stay still to line up a shot, only has a maximum of 5 shots per clip, and 27 rounds per full ammo supply, an unadjustable scope which on the "tactical" rifles has much too powerful a scope to be useful up close or on the charge there's the charge between shots. whilst completely ignoring the fact that they don't even try to use ads on their high rof, high dps rifles which they can still point at the sniper (who is crouched down trying to target) as they strafe and jump up and down without even worrying about missing. even if they do miss they carry way more then 5 shots and due to the snipers commando suits they run rings around em. (i am aware that in the second weapon slot they probably have an rr, and yes you would expect them to use it, but i'm basing it on the sniping as somebody who enjoys using the sniper rifle )
as to the red line snipers, quite alot of them are trying to learn how to snipe and the red lines are basically the best place for that i suppose (understandable), but after some point any sniper that knows what they're doing should be looking for and using better places and tactics for sniping.
and then there are maps where there just isn't much choice.again it's understandable. and the only other option is to use another play style on those maps and if sniping is your favourite sometimes you just don't want to do something else.
to anybody that uses the red line for safety unfortunately there are quite a few, 1st.kdr is not a gauge for a good sniper, i have seen some players who could be great snipers if they were just willing to get killed in order to help the team more become obsessed with the weekly kdr board, if you don't make a difference for your team then you are not doing well.
2nd. you should spend a few rounds exploring the maps better, your 4/0 score isn't enough to not want to take the time for it, and your game will improve almost instantly.....
and you will help yourself by not having the likes of me doming you every few seconds. |
