Please explain this 700 DPS number you're getting. It's clip size isn't nearly as relevant because of the overheat, which effectively acts like a reload since you have to regularly pause your fire, allowing your opponent time to scramble for cover, or continue to shoot at you. The overheat mechanic is very punnishing, so you typically hold back from pushing the heat to the very edge that's theoretically achievable. It's like always leaving a few rounds in the clip before reloading. It's easy to overheat, especially when leading off with a charged shot (risk v. reward), or facing an armor buffer opponent, group of opponents, or someone with Logi reps. You can't run while holding a charge, and you're particularly vulnerable to shotgunners. It's damage profile is the LEAST balanced of any weapon. It's bonused to shields which have a significantly smaller buffer and can't apply proficiency to the most common tank type with the biggest buffer. As a result, you tend to get a lot more assists with the weapon. This dramatically reduces WPs and end of match payouts as a result. If the damage profile were switched to +20% armor/-20% shields it would be dramatically more effective (although it makes no sense and violates lore). That's pretty good evidence that the existing damage profile is a significant con of the ScR. Best PvE idea ever!
