OP is a scrub who thinks the VERY slight DPS increase makes a difference with the increased overheat.
We're also likely to get a range nerf soon if the heavy QQ continues.

This thread is a QQ gateway.
Hmg was fine anyway.
I officially disapprove of this thread.

Burst HMG is terrifically powerful at a respectable range with a trivial drawback. It just needs a real drawback. Hopefully it will get balanced soon.

Yeah like exploding killing the carrier if it overheats.
On a more serious note, ignore the poorly (from a game perspective) designed tooltip and make HMGs dispersion increase over time. You know like the blaster turrets and generally any game that has HMGs. A high RPM weapon that gets more accurate overtime was a bad idea.
That way they still remain as high dps crowd killers while not being one man armies. The HMG like heavies, should be a support role.
I used to love playing games like Day of Defeat where the LMG was designed for taking out crowds of enemies but garbage for accuracy, that is how I thought the HMG would be in this game but was disappointed. |

It does. the dispersion ring is insane, and it doesn't shrink significantly.
the smaller the target in that ring, the less bullets per burst will hit. AKA CCP actually managed to correctly simulate a Cone of Fire. |

this thing has more in common with the M-2 .50 cal or the miniguns you see in all the youtube vids.
And you'd be shocked at just how accurate real LMGs are in real life. Game coders wouldn't know realistic ballistics if you impaled them on it by and large. it's why most console shooters annoy the hell out of me. The mental statement of "GODDAMMIT GUNS DON'T WORK THAT WAY" breaks the immersion utterly for me.
I like DUST because real world small-unit tactics are applicable to the game, as well as combined-arms tactics. |

It's actually 6 straight bursts without delay before overheat.
Also...It's much more fun than the standard, but I have always preferred the burst. I don't even care to chime in on stupid nerf/buff commentary anymore though.

1% of the heavy community run the burst at best. It's a situational piece of hardware. Open maps in a Minosaur fit with 2x''s complex kin kats is where it excels. Down and dirty brawling any decent heavy will go to the boundless. It's really about your play style. Patience young grasshopper. |

Boundless is definitely better for sustained entrenched combat, but toe up 1v1 with a six kin and immediately be seated.

In CQC I disagree. Any decent heavy will own with the power of straff. ( side note. Straff has a completely different meaning to the rest of the world. Check it.) I run the sin kin daily it's situational. I use it to pick off idiots who stray from their squad NEVER in a gang bang. |

Strafe.
And you mean, the world meaning of strafe is different than the gaming worlds definition.
