CCP Rattati wrote:Are you serious, prioritizing limited resources is the most important aspects of the Hotfixes. Adding LP items for a tiny FW playerbase over doing something better for the majority. Not really difficult to understand. Did you ever think that the FW playerbase is tiny because maybe, just maybe, there is missing gear?
Let's put it this way, I have already proven that prototype dropsuits are one of the best items in the loyalty store for their value. And especially because taking a suit from level 3 to level 5 is a huge investment for newer players, prototype suits should be by far the most popular items I imagine (and if not, it's because a lot are missing). https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=169519&find=unread So what's the problem here? Well, if we say their are 20 prototype suits in the game (Scout, Assault, Logistics, Commando, Sentinel for each race), then we are missing 8 of those suits (Commando and Sentinel for Gallente, Caldari, and Minmatar and Scout for Caldari and Amarr). That is 40% missing!
So what happens to all those players who prefer those suits? They probably don't want to play FW because it doesn't benefit them much. And even when their buddies get on who use a suit available in FW, they will likely try to convince them not to play FW while they are in a squad together so since FW doesn't benefit one of them.
CCP Rattati, if you are going to blame the tiny FW playerbase, at least make an attempt to fix it in a way that's meaningful to everyone, and giving 3x the LP still doesn't mean squat if you use one of those suits in the 40% of the suits. I mean, it would be like when the laser rifle had an iron sight and CCP says, "There is a tiny playerbase using this weapon so let's not waste resources trying to improve it."
Not trying to rant on you, but the very least you can do is add those 8 sets of suits (only 8! How much time could that be?) in the LP market before declaring anything. I fear that if this 3x LP doesn't increase the FW playerbase then FW will pretty much be dead from all future hotfixes (or at least ones anytime soon).

I personally love FW, but this is one of the main reasons I don't get to play it very often. I can never get buddies to play it with me because, "they don't have my **** in there."

I can definitely agree with this post, I've always wanted to buy min sentinels off the store, but they haven't bothered to give me any to buy. Also, where's my specialty repair tool? All I can get is one that is identical to PRO repair tools.
I might be tempted to play again with the increased LP payouts, but there are only a few things I'd even use.

I honestly don't think low FW participation is just because not everything you want is in the LP store.
I can't see it taking that much time to add them, though.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I can't see it taking that much time to add them, though. I'd say there's 3, or maybe 4, factors. Here they are, from my opinion, with the most important at the top
1. Missing gear. At least have all suits if nothing else, as these are the biggest part of any fitting. There's only 8 suits missing, so come on!
2. Poor LP payout. Getting addressed in Charlie.
3. Lack of game mode diversity.
4. Unbalanced matches, though that is just the nature of a more competitive scene.
You can't fix something lower on the list and expect to see healthier FW participation without fixing everything higher on the list first. So CCP is fixing the poor LP payout, but if you are a Gallente, Caldari, or Minmatar Commando/Sentinel or Amarr or Caldari Scout, what good does the extra LP do for you?
Again I'm not asking for much, just add in the remaining 8 dropsuit classes to the LP stores at first. Shouldn't be too much work. If adding those 8 suit classes and increased LP payouts then bring higher FW participation, work on adding in everything else.

I would even go so far as.to.say that the suits don't need special paint design, for now. They can look like current models just with the reduced isk cost with LP. I would easily do more caldari FW if my scout suit was available. I mostly play amarr for the links, that's it.

I also wish to make a post of similar nature regarding vehicles.
All LP bought vehicles are being restricted to Gallente and Caldari FW's.
If you are a vehicle operator you are forced to grind in Cal and Gal FW for those HAV...... now as I have said before the semi competitive state of FW means you lose HAV significantly more often......
Basically I will now being paying 2x HAV to buy one more HAV which is not better or different than the two I lost.
TL;DR
-Vehicle Users have no place in FW
-Costs are too high for no noticeable benefits
- More than 50% of vehicle content missing as Dropships and LAV cannot be bought
- Purchased Vehicles are not special

FW is the only game mode left that is worth playing in this game and also represents potential extra income for you in the form of boosters. Making higher level things available to newer players sooner also would likely help in balancing and general new player retention.
The first reason FW has a small player base is being fixed (thank you for that) but the fact still stands that missing items drive a large part of the player base away and the ones that do run it can hardly piece together a full fitting. Committing one hotfix cycle to filling in the inventory is only going to help things down the road.
If you actually believe that growing the LP store and in turn FW as a whole does not help the majority you are thinking in a very small way.
FW was meant to be an ISK sink and now that the idea of an economy is in the trash you do not care about it. Lets take that not caring and make it easier since the designers are busy making things for Legion.
Step 1 Highlight Aurum Items of the same type. Step 2 press ctrl+c Step 3 open LP store inventory and press ctrl+v |

But its not better than T2 gear in many cases. Factional Gear is rarely better than that..... only certain occasions or specific modules actually yield better results, only by 1-2%, which only tend to matter on ships cruiser size or above.....
What makes FW gear special in EVE is that it is content that can only originate from the LP stores, aka the LP ships are slightly better ships with stronger damage and range bonuses..... Imperial Heat Sinks, Federations Navy Hobgoblins, etc, etc are slightly better incarnations than their counter parts.....

That would be nice. Add missing suits and adjust bonuses +1% (so 6% heat build up per level on FW AmAss instead of 5% on normal AmAss for example) |

There are so many things that failed the FW.
For one, the thing about fighting for districts that would quickly be reclaimed in the matter of minutes.
But to me, the biggest thing that hasn't been properly acknowledged is that FW was basically PC elite meets the Pubs.
Caldari and Amarr faced this tragedy. Elite corporations queued up in Gal and Minimatar and wrecked face. They wrecked face HARD. I can only speak from the Cal side because I was heavily involved with trying to align people together and work to better the stormfront.
Everybody wanted to be a chief without realizing somebody had to be the indians. It was a mess. Unorganized Cal players ran into the likes of TeamPlayers and others and when faced with this stiff, brutal competition, they ran. The comm channels were poorly handled and the FCs were lacking. Shout out to Mike Ruan for the doing the best he could in the war effort.
After constantly getting steamrolled, people just threw their hands up and left. You couple that with LP points instead of ISK and it became a non profitable expenditure that hurt wallet and pride.
To me, that lead to the downfall of FW. I couldn't tell you how I read the FW comm in utter shame. Spies galore. People in the comm channel inviting anybody to it. Folks "lfs" for Gallente in a Caldari FW comm-it was all around bad.
Just to be clear, this post isn't a rant, just a honest observation that lead to the downfall of FW.

I'd rather they work on getting everything balanced before they focus on FW.
As a strong supporter of Legion, I still want to see a working FW system here in Dust to be translated to Legion with hardly any flaws.
That said, I feel that we need to get this "small community" together at some point to discuss the steps needed to fix FW. Then we can focus on one point at a time to propose the best options for each fix.
For example, -A spreadsheet of the "bare minimum", "wanted", and "all" items that are missing from the FW market -Our opinion on LP and isk values for items in the market -Ways to encourage players to join FW matches instead of public contracts
Is there anyone on the CPM who would be interested in working with us on this? Would a separate section on the forums help (or should we raid one of the "dead" sections such as one of the random map feedback threads lol)
Can we get a skype group together to meet weekly to come to agreements on certain subjects?
Instead of just talking about it, let's take action.

Hmm I distinctly remember the support of Team Players, AE, Fatal Absolution, etc during the Junip Crusade.... but like you said it was impossible to keep them around and fighting for your factions.
But like we found back in the early days of FW.... high tier/ large and more well manned corps could and would run up against strong competition...... and there was so much competiton.
I smacked talked the Min Militia until the got organised and whupped out asses with the help of STB and Restless Spirits...not to mention Prima Gallicus and Cybedyne.
NAO smack talked the Amarr Militia. We organised round the clock FW matches, then made contact/ were made in contact by Cubs, AE, and a bunch of other Amarr FWers in a single channel.
We flipped the warzone in 2 day and held it for another 6 weeks.
We arrogantly smack talked NAO again and they joined WINMATAR and took back the warzone.
ETC..... the desire to compete has left the WZ and is being replaced by a farmers paradise.

Copy that.
I saw better organization on the Amarr side. Back then, people picked Gal just to troll Cal players because they knew they would give up easily.
And that pains me to even say that. I have to remember to unclench my teeth.
